I'd like to see that blower swapped over to the 396 once it's rebuilt. The reason is because I once read a column in HRM about a 325 hp 396 that they'd put a 6-71 on and nothing else. They went on and on about how it was a night and day difference. The biggest improvement you could make. So in my opinion, keep the blower, ditch the 350 when you can.

I love it man, i just did a 70 impala with a detroit 671 i rebuilt myself and i also love it. Something cool and oldschool. Just had a 350 marine vortec motor for a case of beer and some extra parts from the locals and the dream was made reality.

Free spinning is no problem....when it's in a car under load..and you get that itch to punch it ...then boom goes the pistons and rings.....on a stock NA...engine

Been there done that ...putting a blower on a engine not built for boost...trust me when you lean on it your breaking the pistons and rings....

just changing the cam solid roller conversion should make a big difference

Anybody that said you were stupid in the comments are either mad cuz they ain't doing it or their super professional engine builders and got enough money to build the perfect engine but for you and me and 95% of everybody else this is cool

You need to double key the crank (forged steel crank not cast crank) and put a hub on it. It’ll spit that damper right off the engine.

What runs the Alternator and waterpump, Power Steering?

That's going to work great ! I have two street cars with 6-71 blowers on them on stock Ford small block engines and no problems . We run between 5 to 7 pounds of boost pressure . That's the actual factor as when ya get up over 10 PSI things change bigtime on gasoline engines .

No blower surge until the end. I hate blower surge. It can be tuned away, but too many guys thinks it all cool. I think it sounds like schitt.

Should fire up and run fine. Will definitely pep it up. Should do a before and after hp on a dyno.

1967 wasn't technically a DZ as it was a 2-bolt main. '68 and '69 were two of the only three years for the actual DZ302. In 1973, in South Africa, GM sold 100 cars called the Firenza CanAm (for homologation purposes) which had a proper 4-bolt main DZ302 and a M21. The only other car I know of to receive a DZ302 from the factory.

I am waiting for all the " that can't work " people ! Lol. But it does show two things 1 how little fuel/air a V8 can idle on .2 the amount of rotor gap a roots has to flow that air without rotating at idle . But I do love how it turns when revs pull a vacuum on the underside of the roots. I'd be betting someone there that day said " let's see if it runs with the belt off !!?? " Lol
