Implausible premise. The American lad, Christian, was introduced to the British host family as a foreign exchange student by his mother and the wife of the family, and they provided him free food, housing and private school education. In the home of his host family, he became acquainted with the Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch and its perversions in real life. Christian selectively quotes the Bible to preach to his host about good morals. All morals and ethics are arbitrary. His host selectively quotes the Bible back to Christian. Ridiculous.

One of only two movies Clint made for MGM. The other;Kelly’s Heroes. Poorly treated by the studio, so went back to Warner Brothers and took his production company, Malpaso, with him. Only works for other studios now as an equity paid actor. No wonder Metro went broke.
