24:00 the most likely explanation, and the only one that makes, is that Walls, who we now have undeniable proof was working for MI6, passed the information along to Kaunda and told him to warn Nkomo. It is also likely he was told by his handlers to tell them not to evacuate the camps, as that would have made it obvious that the information was being leaked. Wells was under intense scrutiny as the government suspected he was a mole, but could not prove it, and if they did prove it, moral would plummet both in the military and the general population. In short, he passed along the important information to the most important people.

A 1994 Amnesty International publication described the operation as a massacre and stated that the camp at Nyadzonya housed refugees, and that a soldier who participated in the raid later stated: "We were told that Nyadzonia was a camp containing several thousand unarmed refugees who could be recruited to join the guerrillas. It would be easier if we went in and wiped them out while they were unarmed and before they were trained rather than waiting for the possibility of them being trained and sent back armed into Rhodesia". This is disgusting ahistorical clearly trying to appeal to modern nazi's.

@eugenekrabs869 As a Zimbabwean/Rhodesian, there were unfortunately attrocities on both sides. I deeply regret the actions of some of our soldiers. However, what the terrorists did was even worse. They raped, mutilated, tortured and murdered their own countrymen. Their own African people. Even family and friends to force them to join Zanla. Many good people were forced to become terrorists or watch their whole family being slaughtered. Not to mention the shooting down of two Air Rhodesia Viscounts full of women, children and civilians. The bayonetting of the surviors. There was good and bad on both sides. Rhodesia was good in that we had a good government that actually served the people, a flourishing economy and a world where no one went hungry and everyone had a job.

@@Lion_Heart_Zimbabwe This was a warcrime so heinous that the still racially segregated south africa had to withdraw support. The crimes of individual soldiers on the Zimbabwe side are a sign of poor discipline, were they perfect? No, but they were better than the most 'moral' Rhodesian soldier, they were a collection of militias, it wasn't a state military heavily trained and regimented, with their being direct orders given to kill civilians, this is like justifying the actions of Nazi germany because partisans were brutal, there is difference between systemic atrocities and sporadic ones. the aggressor sets the tone of the conflict and minority rule by white colonists over a land that was never truly there's, is itself hostile. brutality is met with brutality, restraint is met with restraint. Some of this is just Rhodesian propaganda made by the state to justify its racial hierarchy, to use another example I don't care if Mussolini made the trains run on time, he murdered dissidents and destroyed democracy. You will never have your fabled mythic Rhodesia that never existed outside of propaganda and your own fevered dreams. Africans will rule africa, from now until the end of time, as it should've always been. Ascribing the current economic situation of africa to Africans racial inferiority not only shows a childish not researched perspective of history and the economics of the global south, it is disgusting, and if you had any self awareness you'd be ashamed for being so brazen.

@eugenekrabs869 I respect your views. However, I want to draw your attention to a case in 1976. A mission school of civilian missionaries and their families, including women and children were brutally murdered by the "freedom fighters". Among the bodies, babies and small children were found to have been bayoneted. What kind of a human does that? Every soldier must act with chivalry and kindness towards women, children and civilians. The terrorists used to massacre villages of their own people who supported the Smith government. The women were gang-raped then murdered. Their families forced to watch. Torture was common. Some people had their lips cut off among other atrocities to horrible to mention. Two Air Rhodesia Viscounts, full of women, children and civilians were shot down by terrorists. In the first Viscount tragedy, some of the few survivors were later bayoneted to death by the same gang of terrorists. That violates ever known law in human rights. Now, that doesn't excuse the atrocities our own side sometimes committed. I agree with you. However, how the terrorists treated their own people was much worse.

@eugenekrabs869 I am not a Rhodesia fanatic nor am I a racist like some certain people in the US. I am simply being realistic and speaking from what really happened. As a white Zimbabwean living in this country, I have read first-hand accounts of the war from both sides and what really happened. It is part of my country's history. I love the good African people and I want to see Zimbabwe rebuilt on the laws of Kindness, Compassion, Generosity, Unity, Peace, Friendship and Respect for all races and all living beings.

@benmacdui9328 We are your own British kith and kin. My friend, if you were here in Rhodesian days, you would see that this country with Ian Smith as leader was a million times better than it was under Mugabe. Yes, the racial system was unfair. I regret that. However, no one went hungry. No one starved. Everyone had a job. We were much fairer and better than apartheid South Africa. Ian Smith was the best Prime Minister this country ever had. As you are a Scot, I will happily inform you that Ian Smith was of Scottish descent ( through his father ). Many Rhodesians have Scottish heritage such as my own family. Rhodesians ( both white and black ) built this country from the ground up and made it the breadbasket of all Africa. Rhodesians generously gave a lot to this country, her wildife, her natural heritage and her people. I am proud of who I am and my proud of my country and people.

Pompey's The Great was defeated by Caesar, Tigranese the Great of Armenia was utterly destroyed by Sullas left Tennant, Lucullus. In all honesty, if you pitted the "Greats" against the best generals NOT called the Great, it would probably be 50/50 as far as victor of the battle goes.
