Aconcagua-Helicopter from Basecamp down through Horcones Valley in Andes Mountains 🏔#explore #video
After my climb, I found out you can choose to fly from basecamp through the Horcones Valley, Over Camp Confluencia, to the entrance of the Park. If you trek back out, it’s at least a 12-14 hour trek, if you fly, it’s 10 minutes, and kinda pricey, but I was able to find an injured climber who didn’t wish to hike out, so was able to share the cost. It was amazing views at sunset in the Andes mountains. 🤗🏔♥️#explore #mountains #adventure #video #aconcagua #viralvideo #art #amazing #subscribe #love #awesome #beautiful #follow #instagram #live #life #like #nature #photography #reels #travel #video #youtubeshorts #youtube #youtuber

I made my first attempt of Aconcagua a few years ago when I was 55. Now, at 58, I tested myself again, and got further, felt better, and braved the wilds of the Andes mountains, to yet again, challenge myself and see what I was made of, or see where my breaking point is. I had started my climb of Aconcagua on December 2- and ended on the evening of the 13th. Soo my breaking point this go around...

Hi!! Hope you’ve recovered! Question: how did you post? With iPhone? Did you use Starlink? Did you have a satellite phone? Thanks in advance❤
Why didn't you wait for the lower wind/warmer weather season? I heard it starts at the end of December.
@@erichter66 look back in my videos from a year ago. I went in January last time, and it was totally a white out situation on the mountain, 2 ft of snow, you couldn’t see trail, wind worse. So decided to go in December this time. Well next time, I will go after January 10🤣🏔
You are tough! 50 lbs pack on showshoes and 60 lb sled behind you!? I took the credvase rescue class in Talkeetna. It was no joke. Did you make it to the Summit?
@@erichter66 nope 16000 ft. Next time, will get team of 2nd attempt climbers.
How long did it take you from Mulas to Camp Canada?
@@erichter66 about 5 hours maybe 6. I was 🥶 cold and it was windy
We are heading there in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.
@@erichter66 I hope you have a great weather window🏔🏔🏔🏔🏔
You did a great job congratulations
@@donbrown6204 thanks Don!!!!!🤗♥️
That is AWESOME
Ya...that seems like it would've been a long walk...
@@kathleenmay5934 yep, 2 weeks in -32 F with 60 mph winds, 20000 ft. I fly back on the 18 th. Whose doing Christmas dinner🤗♥️
Each time you go, you go farther… Congrats on a new record.
@@george5206 thanks George 🤗🏔♥️
It is impressive how much cargo they got on that helicopter. I had no idea!
@@williamwadejr5302 everything is delivered by mule or chopper up there🤗
@ when you first got to the base camp I was thinking that if you had a helicopter you could make a lot hauling stuff in. In the Rockies it was all horses and mules (where I was) horses carried us and the mules carried the loads.
How pricey is pricey?
@@JohnBinay if you go through an expedition company it’s around 1800, if you walk down to the helicopter tent and haggle, it’s 1500, but they are on their time, then if you find an injured person or someone who wants to share the ride, they allow up to 3 persons per flight, but the issue is your gear and weight, so I shared the flight with an injured guy so 750 each. Not bad, since it cuts out almost 2 days out🤗🏔
Breathtaking view!
@@george5206 totally 🤗🏔♥️
Nice video
@@paulevans2474 thanks Paul!🏔🤗
Awesome! Did you make it to the summit?
@@jamesanderson4696 not this time. Got to Camp Colera! Furthest I’ve gotten in best time! -32F temps, 60 mph winds 20000 ft really wear you out!😳
Have fun watching your adventure in Aconcagua, have fun for the rest of the trip
@@alonsobmartinez3730 thanks, I’m looking forward to a shower, and real toilet, and not to be freezing listening to the high winds try to blow my tent away 🥶🏔♥️
@TravelAdventures-w-IslandGirl must be difficult as hell, well, a well reserve shower 🤣🤣, hace fin, enjoy the vienes cutie pie in your Way down, keep posting
@ thanks soo much! I think I’m gonna lose my toe nails. I’m descending correctly, but even though you go heel first, in the scree down the slope, there’s big rocks burried in the scree. We are following a different porters route down😳🏔

I’ve been following you and impressed with your journey!! You made your own summit. I love your spirit!! I’m heading there on Jan 5th to try … ❤
@@LeslieSchwartz-d7h good luck with weather, I made it to Camp Colera. It’s the wind and cold you have to get through. Good luck, stay positive, have a personal goal in mind😎♥️🏔
@ thank you!! Any other advice?? I’m trying to go in with a positive attitude 🙏🏻. I’d love anything you think will help… clothes ( as in “I’m SOO GLAD I had…)
@@LeslieSchwartz-d7h I wore smart wool under garments the whole time, I kept about 3 layers of merino wool or puffy layers, and just swapped out outer layer, depending on cold. Baby wipes are essential. Your personal snacks you are use to. After 12 days, of eating their food, which I wasn’t use to eating sweets, I’m glad I brought beef jerky and my protein bars, and pedialite to add to the melted snow water. I lost 8 lbs of weight on me! I didn’t use my crampons, but bring them, I went in January 2 yrs ago and had tons of snow. Ask me anything, I want you to succeed!🤗🏔♥️
@ hi!! Thank you for this great info. I’ve rented a bunch of stuff but also of smart wool/ Marino wool items. Yes- plan to bring snack. I’m a picky eater . Who did you use for helicopter rescue insurance? Did you have bad Alritude sickness? Use Diamox?? What happened 2 yrs ago that u didn’t summit? I’m going with Grajales which I hear is a good outfitter. Going with Grajales expeditions.
@ when you talk to Grajales, ask for Ilan and mention Laura Ellis and my TH-cam. Try to only do Diamox in emergency situations. I bring it but don’t use it. I went slow and made sure I was at each camp for two days. The weather and high winds get 70 % of climbers, that’s why 30% succeed. This was my second attempt. I will be back next December more than likely, I surpassed what I did 2 yrs ago.
Proud of you Laura! You gave it all you had. Time to come down.
Thanks Bill! It’s awesome though!😊
@ you make solid decisions. You know how much gas you have left in the tank. So I’m glad you will fight another day!
I like the inside rock tip.
Oh yeah! I would have thought all my gear and me, would hold it down! And it was tied off to boulders!😂
I’m sorry it did not work out. It may be warmer in January.
Thanks, the wind is insane! lol, I will be happy to get a shower! And no wind!!!!!!
You will get it next time
Thanks Paul!😊
30 years ago you would be standing on at least 2 meters of snow. I find it incredible that you have the energy to be climbing there. I can hardly get up from my bed 😅
@@apopope72 remains to be seen! I’ve never been soo tired or sick of the cold and wind!!!!
Oh yeah you are going all the way. Clear, coherent and full of joy! I’ve never been that high on a mountain or been in those temps but I have been high up in the Rockies and everything I didn’t want to freeze went in the sleeping bag with me. It was cramped but my buddy really appreciated that my baby wipes weren’t frozen like a brick when he really needed them😁. Got back from that trip and got a bigger sleeping bag. It is crazy how you can share this trek real time but it is crazy good!
@@williamwadejr5302 I’m soo tired! The winds are actually gusting to 40 and it’s very cold. I’m exhausted
@ I know it’s been very tough on you but you are so close and the weather (from what I can tell) is really good. This is your dream, to climb the Seven Summits of the World and you have already done some of them. This mountain is a must for your Everest trek. I’m telling you nothing you don’t already know. I can’t tell you anything in technical advice but I can encourage you to keep going!!! Next wake up your start the final climb! Dig as deep as you can, ALL your family and friends are pulling for you BUT this is your moment and when you stand on that summit you will have done it all on your own. Your body will have taken you there. I hope you bask in the sun at that moment and soak it all in and when that moment is done go back down and rest. I told you a while back that only you and God know what you can do. He’s gotten you this far and He’ll be with you up there.
Thank you for the tour… You are knocking it out of the park!
@@george5206 I’m soo exhausted
@ it’s the kind of exhaustion. You can only feel after putting everything into something that is so unique and so special… Not to mention so rewarding!
You are doing GREAT!!!!
Two more wake ups!!! That’s all you need to summit that mountain and spend the rest of your days telling the tale! I don’t know how many will be on the summit with but I know that there four that won’t because you have stuck it out and they didn’t! So hang in there and enjoy that view!
@@williamwadejr5302 thank you soo much! That is the type of push I need! Thanks for totally understanding 🤗🏔
oh damn. hope that wind goes away. Did you bring all your own gear or did you rent?
@@jamesanderson4696 I brought all my own gear, that way I’m use to how it works, and I know what kind of shape it’s in. Like the boots etc. I go to Camp Colera tomorrow, then wake up at 3 am for the summit push. I need to drink more water😳🏔
@@TravelAdventures-w-IslandGirl you been putting down a gallon a day? any issues with altitude? how do you still have internet?
@@jamesanderson4696 it’s crazy! All the big mountains have starlink now, but only when the sun is out! I’ve been bad at drinking anything, I try to add electrolytes to my water, since the snowmelt water has nothing in it. I drink a Nalgene a day, because it’s what I can do now. Also, I brought power type protein bars from home, the local food on mountain, has not been good to many here. Tomorrow is the day to Camp Colera!!!!!
Grajales’ Canada and Nido were really far away from the other companies. Good on you for hiring a personal guide. I never saw anybody else at Nido. Briefly somebody visited Canada Grajales.
@@LinusWilson omg! Yes! Far! I really thought about it, and to give myself the best opportunity at the summit as this is my second attempt, I decided to hire a guide and Porter, money well spent!!!!🏔
@ did u take a shuttle to the penitentes or did u take a taxi/Uber?
@ I paid Grajales for a private driver. It’s different when you’re a solo chick.
Keep going!!!

@@jamesanderson4696 🤣I’m freezing at basecamp! The winds are 40-50 gusts today, and we all looked up to Camp one, and there’s a tent stuck in a crevasse that blew away last night!
Did u climb it?
@@LinusWilson yep! About a month ago, I had a weeks notice to get over there. Had been waiting on this mountain to open. The climb took 10 hours, finished in dark, it’s a chaotic climb
Went unguided last December and turned around at Nido with cold feet. Hope to go back. Focussed on the 50-state high points this year and next.
The winds up there to summit are crazy currently, so I think I’m at basecamp for 3 days, before I start up.
A clear and beautiful day for your trek😎
