The Riff was *EQUAL* like all others once. Until a point that it *"BAUHAUS"* 'd itself, and then suddenly, it was *DAMNED* for a long time, but not for too much longer when the *GARDEN OF DELIGHT* helped it change for the better, but unfortunately, it got turned into a *KILLING JOKE* after awhile, people didn't like it. So therefore it was *NIRVANA* in the end...

The Damned version sounds the most original to me, the two before that are a total coincidence/fluke

Let's be honest. A lot of guitarists arrived at that riff because it's SUPER EASY. It's only the first two frets on the first two strings. Nirvana's version also sounds much smoother and less stutter stop than the others. They aren't the same. There's only so many notes/chords, and it's stupid to pretend someone hasn't played them before. Case in point - Noel Gallagher getting shit for "stealing" My Sweet Lord by George Harrison - the funny bit being that Harrison was ALSO sued for "stealing" those chords way back in the 70s. It's all been done before. The performance is the important part.

It's not like if it was a very uncommon serie of notes for guitar... anyone jaming on a guitar can easily come with that kind of riff cause it's a common and easy position and open chord

Eighties is a blatant rip-off of Garden of Delight by 22 Faces. Like it’s objectively the same riff, just tuned down. Nirvana’s is a mix of Eighties and Life Goes On by the Damned. Regardless, they are all great songs

I performed the Killing Joke version at a local venue for a benefit show for my old drama group. I came off stage and my old drama teacher was crying tears and said she was proud of how far ive come with my confidence in performing 😊

Every band gave to that riff a new sound, perspective, idea... whatever. For me, all of them made that riff richer.

Its so funny to me that the killing joke made a big deal that come as you are ripped them off when its the same riff the damned used one year earlier and not only that but the life goes on riff sounds even more similar to come as you are than eighties
