As a lifetime fan-------from the Fall of 1962--------I found / find, both " 15 Big Ones " & ' Love You" to be depressingly unlistenable. " Love You " has a couple of decent entries ; " I'll Bet He's Nice " & " The Night Was So Young " , but that's it. " Big Ones " has maybe 3 songs------maybe : " Palisades Park " ----" It's Ok " -----& maybe, " Had To Phone Ya " ------maybe. But that's it. On a happier note, ' MIU " is a still delightful listening experience. It was panned by " critics " ---------what DO any of them know ??????------but their criticism is, IMO, totally misguided, as the group was at a personal low in '78. The music however, is excellent. Even BW sings with a pleasant, moderate baritone, on " Match Point Of Our Love " . As for " LA Light " , again, it is IMO, wildly uneven, though I for one, LOVE, ' Here Comes The Night ", done disco, by Bruce & Curt Boettcher. [ yes, I know I misspell his last name ! ]. THE one positive note is Bruce returning to the group, for good. They really missed his exceptional talent in the years he was gone. -------As for 1980's " Keepin The Summer Alive " that, either Mike, or CBS exec's, insisted on that title. The main reason "Surfin' USA" was compared to "Sweet Little Sixteen" was because both songs listed city/town names. There is some resemblance musically, but there are differences. I always liked al jardines rougher vocal style. I was always fascinated by and into the album beach boys party! That's where al sings the times they are the changin. That song got me into bob dylan.
