I honestly think that Al Pacinos performance in Part II is the greatest acting of modern movies. He seems so incredibly absorbed and remote and creates a "psychological atmosphere" with very subtle gestures as for example the way he moves his eyes or the manner in which he is just sitting on a chair or lights a cigarette. Apart from that his sadness and contempt for what he became/had to become is deeply touching.

These times may be imagined by movie fans but to live it... you never know when your time is your time, how you live or die, success or failure, conquer or be conquered, dog eat dog, responsibility, honor, respect, life, death, the laughter, joy, good times, bad times, struggle, strength, wisdom, power. After all is gone your left with nothing but the nightmares forever and the untold, the truth dies with you.
