Origin of Centaurs
The centaurs of Greek mythology have a fairly messed-up origin story. Far from being the gentle, nature-loving, elf-like creatures of pop culture, they're quite violent.

Any comments on the theory the centaurs were based on the Scythian horse nomads? It would explain a lot about how they acted in the Greek myths.
