Hi Geoff, we just booked Brittania for Caribbean cruise next Feb. Ship looks beautiful. We have only done Arcadia which was a much smaller ship. Concerned about all the people. Do they get lost around the ship like they did on arcadia if you know what I mean, so you don't feel like there 5 thousand people on there?

@@pamelajenkins749 you need to have a walk around the whole boat a couple of times to make sure you don’t miss out on anything. The downside is when you have a day at sea and it’s sunny, the decks are like a seal colony on the beaches of Benidorm or Torremelinos; all blubber and sun cream, and yes some selfish people will ‘reserve’ their Sun loungers though I heard some staff were pretty good at removing people’s belongings/towels. Make sure when you arrive you have a bag of toiletries and a change of clothes in your hand luggage otherwise you could Be going to dinner in the clothes you’ve been travelling in as it takes 3 hours for your luggage to be delivered. Also I was never made aware of the extortionate charges for Wi-Fi £240 for full access. Absolute rip off but apparently that’s quite the norm. So most people wait until they get ashore to a cafe each day. Enjoy!!

Thanks Geoff. Damn we booked this cruise, so there were some days at sea, didn't like the idea of having to do something everyday. I did get that impression from some of the tours I've seen. Nevermind just being a snob. I'm sure we'll find a nice little spot somewhere 😉

On Britannia it was a no tipping policy. However I did tip the guy in charge of cleaning the berths as I thought he was exceptional

I booked the excursions before I sailed which you’ll find most people do if it’s their first cruise holiday which it was for me. The inland excursions of Cocoa and Aruba were unspectacular. The sea based excursions I thought were a bit of a rip off e.g. the underwater sculptures may just as well have been bits of garden furniture statues that someone has plonked in the seabed to make a tourist attraction. I thought the sculptures were going to be life size, they’re not, and in fact no more that 2’ high and now seaweed covering a lot of them! The beach hop in St Vincent again was expensive for what it was. An 1hr + 1/4 to motor, not sail across to a cove which was unattractive and to go snorkelling over a dead Sea bed and no fish life, even though the beach was nice and the lunch good. The St Kitts scenic railway was enjoyed by most but 2hrs of the same scenery though nice was more than enough for me. It’s a 20/30 minute coach trip back to the boat. P & O provide absolutely no information on the islands so do your research before you go out there. You may want to book privately in advance with a local tour operator. You won’t be able to do your research on the ship unless you pay the outrageous charges for Wi-Fi connection £240 for full connection for the holiday. There is a daily rate. Lots of passengers demanded refunds for a poor service. Make sure you fly out with a spare set of clothing and toiletries to hand as there is no warning until getting on the shuttle bus that your bags will not arrival me at your cabin for at least another three hours, you’ll be otherwise going to dinner in the clothes you’ve been travelling in all day. Food on the cruise was only 3 star not 5 star and waiter service was very ad hoc with orders for drinks regularly mixed up, or just simply wrong. Regular cruisers thought that the standards had dropped but were sympathetic to the fact they were still recovering from the impact of COVID and staff shortage. It was still a good holiday but I was appalled at the lack of information from P & O and being solo made it that more challenging. Enjoy!
