No worries - I completely understand how daunting the process can feel! For my endorsement, I submitted all documents, including recommendation letters and other evidence, as simple PDF files. No special digital signatures, like DocuSign, or scanned handwritten signatures were required. I hope this clarifies!

The rules for this visa are quite straightforward: you’re free to do almost anything, with two main exceptions - you can’t work as a professional sportsman, and you’re not eligible for certain social benefits, like a state pension. Beyond that, you’re free to live the lifestyle you want, whether that’s being employed, freelancing, starting a business, studying, or something else entirely

Media recognition is a mandatory requirement for the visa application, so unfortunately, not providing evidence of publication will likely result in your application being rejected. It’s really crucial to gather and submit all the necessary documents they're asking

Great question! While a 3-year visa might seem tight at first glance, you can actually apply for ILR up to 28 days before your visa expires. Once you’ve submitted your ILR application, you’re allowed to stay in the UK while it’s processed, even if your visa expires during that time. For me, the choice came down to minimising costs, as a longer visa would have meant higher fees. It’s a personal decision, but the 3-year route worked well for my circumstances. Hope that helps!

Great question! In our case, my partner and child applied *after* I received my visa (which made sense at the time). However, we later realised they could have applied simultaneously with me, which would have saved us several months of waiting

@@jamesadofo249 No, you and your partner can apply for the visa at the same time once you receive your endorsement (Stage 1), and then you can both travel to the UK together. There’s no need to wait for a year - you can settle in the UK together right after your visas are approved :-)

Ideally, a recommendation letter should outline how the person knows you, any direct work you’ve done together, and highlight your achievements and future plans, even if they’re somewhat general. While it’s better to have worked directly together, I guess a retired professor in the same field can still provide valuable insight into your abilities, as long as they can speak to your contributions and potential in chemistry, provided that this professor is a well-known and credible figure in the industry

Fintech is certainly an eligible sector for the Global Talent visa, but I’m not entirely sure if the financial controller role specifically qualifies, as it’s outside my area of expertise. Hi Grant, first of all, congrats on the endorsement! I’m really glad my guide was helpful. While I haven’t faced this situation personally, here are a couple of suggestions based on what seems sensible: 1. Try to find another lab that might be able to provide the TB results faster - 10 weeks does sound excessive! 2. Reach out to the Home Office, explain the delay, and see if they might extend the lifespan of your endorsement until the test is ready. Alternatively, they might allow you to submit the Stage 2 application without the TB test for now, with the understanding that you’ll provide it later. Fingers crossed for you!
