Teaching Research
Once a research professor, always a research professor. Bridging the gap between the empirical and the anecdotal, between statistical significance and clinical significance, helping the professionals of tomorrow graduate from traditional to evidence-based will be my legacy. No greater joy than being a small step in my students’ grand success 🎓

Succinct. Confident expression. Super easy to follow. Perfect introduction of technical terms.
Great video! Thank you for the information it was very helpful in my Advanced Micro Practice class.
You gave a very misleading answer to the first question. He wasn't asking about diversity of opinion in your classroom, but in higher ed generally. In his video "Prof. Jonathan Haidt: What is Going on with Diversity Training (DEI)?", at 0:42, says "in higher ed, there are now essentially no conservatives in the social sciences, other than in economics". Surely you know this?
6.25.23 Thank you so much for this one, sir. A big help for my review this coming SWLE 😇More videos, More Power and God Bless, sir!.
thank you!
Lebron James's participants believe in flopping with no contact. Great video as usual. Super clear and concise.
Your presentation is nice but the letter of your presentation is very small..
You have literally made everything seem so easy. Am going to start my PhD thesis already. Thanks
You got this, Dr. Joy Gwar! 🎓

My pleasure! :)
Going back studying for my license this video is very helpful professor Nafees.
Thank you and good luck! You got this! :)
Thank you so much from Iraq💜
You're welcome 😊
thanks for sharing your expertise!More vedio!
spending to much time on different ideas? isn't that exactly what our universities are for? Jesus, this guy doesn't even know how terrible that sounded.
anyone who believes in this bs or diversity isn't even american, why should someone not get a job bc the other person is a minority, furthemore why don't they have diversity in sports so every nba team needs 4 latinos and Jewish players and a max of 4 african americans
You make a good point, if we embrace diversity in one direction, but not in all directions, are we then not being EXclusive in the name if INclusion?
@@DrNafeesAlam diversity excludes people instead of hiring the best fit which means the company doesn't do as well maybe nfl teams should have 10 women on them and 10 trans min
@@BroncosSUCK1980 That's an interesting point: are people saying the word "inclusive" but behaving "exclusively"? Perhaps we have diluted the definition of diversity to be not-so-diverse.
@@DrNafeesAlam thats how diversity is like Asians getting excluded from the best universities bc they are asians
Great Job responding to the questions your were given. Not one soft ball thrown your way. Proud of you professor Alam. Proud to have sat in your class and have my brain sparked to think, rather than regurgitate.
Thank you so much, the pleasure is all mine!
Great presentation Professor Alam. Glad you are standing your ground and progressing how ALL students are challenged in academia.
Thank you! :)
CRT is recycled antisemitic propaganda.
If history is bound to repeat itself, would it not be all the more reason to learn about history so we know what to watch out for?
@@DrNafeesAlam We already know about the holocaust. We are not talking about history class. We are talking about a nationwide movement blaming their troubles on an entire race.
@@michaelpcoffee You make a great point, history has taught us that using race as a factor to separate leads to some of the worst outcomes humanity has experienced.
Was curious if you saw “the recording” Anna referenced and if you had any thoughts on it? I think you did a great job fielding these questions. Bummed to see that some on the task force tried to use it as a platform to “getchya!”
Thank you so much for your kinds words! Indeed I have seen the recording and thus I've decided to move forward with further publicizing my teaching philosophy (th-cam.com/video/CxTJhbUs9ok/w-d-xo.html ) which is designed not for agreement, rather understanding of different, conflicting viewpoints. In discussing these viewpoints, I often play Devil's Advocate to give students an idea of what the "counterpoint" to a "point" might look/sound like. Long story short, one of the major flaws to my teaching philosophy is that quotes can be taken out of context if a counterpoint is perceived to be a point. I have a great deal of respect for Anna and I hope we get to work together someday because it's clear that we both want what's best for college/university students and for higher education as a whole. It's not "me against her" or "us against them," we can all learn and grow from one another and speaking for myself, I know I can learn and grow by having more conversations with Anna because I love being a professor, I want to be the best professor I can be.
@@DrNafeesAlam I really appreciate your thoughtful response. I honestly feel a little sad to see that you are more concerned about being taken out of context and are changing your teaching because of that. I don’t see that as a flaw in your teaching. I see that as a flaw in bad actors, such as The Idaho Freedom Foundation. They have a history of using intimidation tactics like this to push their agendas (such as doxing a police officer which led to protest at his home - an officer who was just doing his job). I found it particularly distasteful that they advocated for your termination with strategically edited clips without any critical thinking or engagement with your content. It was pretty obvious based on the context of your lesson (even with their editing) you were not advocating for anything radical. Merely explaining ideas. They spoon fed their audience that there should be anger toward you with those clips. That is censorship and intimidation. You, and especially any college level professors, should not be afraid of being clipped out of context… how could we ever teach any difficult subjects and utilize point-counterpoint or Socratic methods if we do not call out that this cancel culture behavior as bad. I am concerned more teachers will submit to fear. The left and the right both use this form of cancel culture. We should call it out. I’d encourage you to not apologize or consider your teaching methods flawed when its bad actors we’re trying to appease. Again, appreciate you and wish there were more of you out there. Cheers.
you created a very helpful video. hope to watch more videos about hbse and other subject in social work♥️
Thank you!
Very helpful to me, thank you so much as I'm taking my pre board examination in Social work and HBSE is one of the major coverage.
You got this, good luck! :)
Thank you! This was very helpful
Very helpful and clear - new student!
I love this video so much . I'm looking forward that there's a lot of learning materials created by you. God bless!
Thank you! :)
I don't know if you're a professor and this is part of your class? But if it is, you are a great teacher! Very clear, engaging, and the content although complex, is accessible. I definitely want to learn more about this, and I would sign up for your class if you got one.
Thank you so much for your kind words, they truly mean the world to me! I am a professor of social work and my videos are designed to supplement my courses in addition to appealing to a greater global audience. I'd love to have you in one of my classes if you're interested.
The way you explained that is easy and understandable 👍
Thank you! :)
Thank you for making this.Hoping for more videos created by you😆
Thank you, I certainly will be creating more content soon!
Thank you for such a concise and real definition. Super!
Thank you so much, my goal is always to be precise and concise.
I think specific examples need to be named when possible when people say universities are indoctrinating, otherwise the argument cycles back and forth in vagueness perpetually
100% agree, specificity is key in decreasing perpetual vagueness.
Thank you so much! Your videos are exceptional.
Thank you!
Are you not doing something similar to what you accuse "higher education" of? Vague statements about indoctrination and group think without any concrete evidence or case studies show me nothing. Both my graduate and undergraduate programs were in the sciences as well as my research experience so maybe I have not seen this, anecdotal data but my experience. Perhaps you meant to focus on the introductory humanities and those sorts of schools. In that case, I do not envy those professors, they are told to pass X percentage of students and then handed students that are are not equipped whatever for higher education, there is no time for discussion, in this case, only cramming knowledge. So I see this as less some nefarious plot of indoctrination and more so the product of poor K12 outcomes. I think one of the issues we are facing right now, both in education and everyday life is applying vague generalizations to everything, when in reality most things are highly specific, nuanced topics. If something like this is the case, should we instead look to fix K12 and ill-equipped students who only listen and do not take a critical eye to everything they are learning?
I do see your point: by being a part of the system, am I in fact a part of the issue I aim to address? I don't really have an answer for you right now, I'd like to think that I am working to improve the system from the inside... but am I really doing the best that I can? I'll have to think about that. As for K-12, you might know more about that group than I do, I've never taught or worked on curriculum in that range so I can't comment. Finally, my ambiguity around the specifics of indoctrination: I was intentional on this for the reason I highlighted toward the close of the video. It's just not a ’safe space’ for those who think a little differently than what is stereotypically expected.
This video is very helpful. It helped me to understand manifest and latent content.
Thank you so much!
I love your perspective! I am so happy to have you as a professor!
Looking forward to your class, thank you for this video.
