Sailing Bagheera - the Blue Nomads
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 22 ก.ค. 2019
We are 2 young at heart empty nesters that decided we would travel around Australia in a Catamaran rather than a caravan and become Blue Nomads of the sea rather than Grey Nomads!
Join us on our journey as we learn what is involved in buying a Catamaran, preparing to sail, renting our home, selling all our furniture and working out a budget.
Murray and Sheryl.

Bagheera - Jaguar 36
After 5 wonderful years of adventures sailing the East Coast of Australia, it is sadly time to sell our beloved "Bagheera" and return to land-life, where family and Grandchildren are calling us. Bagheera is well set up for self-sufficient liveaboard cruising and ready for new owners to enjoy this sailing season.
Bagheera (the name of the Black Panther in the Jungle Book story) is a 3 cabin Owners Version and was originally built for the CEO of Charter Cats (Manufacturers of Jaguar 36) personal use. It was made of Nida Core laminate instead of Balsa wood, which makes her stronger, lighter and to a much higher standard than the regular 36' Jaguar Cats. Some 300 of this model were made to CE standards. The previous owners sailed her from Cape Town to Australia, via Panama and French Polynesia.
Since owning her in 2019, many upgrades have been completed including: 2019 new rigging and motor overhaul, 2021 Main Sail & Genoa, 2022 Bowsprit & Code Zero, 2023 Trampolines and Sail Bag plus Ech2O Tec Water Maker Pressure Pump, Lithium Batteries & Regulator.
Currently moored in the Boyne River, South of Gladstone, Qld. Inspections can be made at either Boyne River or possibly Gladstone Marina with prior notice. Transport can be arranged from Gladstone Airport if required.

We love our Jaguar 36, Top Cat, here in Greece. 36ft might seem small by today's standards but she makes up in width what she lacks in length.
We love ours too and will be sad to see her go, But time to move back to land and another adventure. Definitely plenty of room as you say 😀
You have been on many adventures on Bagherra, I'm sure the new owners will also have hours of fun
@@susanokane5209 we sure hope so!
What does she need? And whats your price?
Is there a video of the engine bay ? More info. I'm am American living in the Philippines dreaming of doing some lengthy sailing. Would this boat be good for soloing?
Wow.............😮
Pretty impressive
The water is like a looking glass ❤😊
The water is always so beautiful when it's so calm.
Did you land him??
No, Murray lost the fish and his brand new lure. The line broke. He caught a Spotted Mackeral today- much better eating!
Wow. Todo es más bonito haí abajo
Yes, it is so beautiful!
Hi Ive got a sailboat with the same type of y valve that I need to replace. I am in canada and that style is not available do you know the brand name of the valve.
Hi. I can send you some photos of the one used from a Whitworths Catalogue. It didn't have a brand just named Diverted Y-valve. If you use Facebook send us a message via Sailing Bagheera as I can't attach photos here. Otherwise a better option is the Jabsco Y-valve.
Spent the winter trawling for prawns between lady Eliot and Musgrave on the Gold Coaster. 12 hrs trawling between the two. So we spent every other day in the lagoon. An idyllic winter for a pomy fisherman on walkabout.
Wow that would have been an incredible experience. Such a beautiful spot.
I so was going to buy this lol y'all beat me 2 it
That was 4 years ago now! We love it!
Another great video
great video
Great to see you guys again. We enjoy your travels.
Thanks for that, I will post some more short videos soon to catch up where we are now in the Whitsundays 😃
Are you guys still living the dream or parked up somewhere. Haven’t seen you for a while. Hope you’re both well.
We have been on a roadtrip, back on the boat now though so hope to sail North soon. Trying to figure out who you are Uncle Fester😁
@@sailingbagheera-thebluenomads The name says it all I’m a fat bald bloke who likes watching your travels.
@@unclefester hopefully we have some new adventures soon then. Murray just needs to get motivated as he spends many hours editing. Thanks for the feedback 😀
I`m looking forward to see your next wideo
Hi. Great video. How was snorkelling at Fitzroy reef? Any favourite spots? Thanks
We snorkled the bommies near the moorings and not bad, apparently left of the entry channel, looking out was great. We tried right side and it was average.
Great footage!
One of our favourites loved the drone footage
Murray's new toy!
Sailing, lov eit~ professional footage, 👏
Thanks
Say hello to deb for me
Ok will do.
The rip under the bridge there gets gnarly aye!!
It was a horrible experience. I Sheryl) still get anxious going under bridges or overhead lines 😱
I often anchor at pretty beach oppisite ettalong....its very protected and no great tide surge ...like at ettalomg...there or hardys bayy
Gawd!!crocs ..sharks ..stingers...iragandjis... i couldnt think of anything worse
The rest made up for it!
Good to see such old people getting out and living still
Maybe we should be moving to a nursing home soon 🤣
Hi, "Bagheera'' crew. Are you OK? We lost you. What happened?
Great information, thank you
Good luck with it!
Thanks for sharing, we are heading the same way next year , can we ask what you do for weather reception, internet etc, cheers
We now have a Telstra based celfi-go booster as Optus doesn't cover as soon as you leave land. For weather you can get reports on UHF regularly. Otherwise other boaties are always helpful. If you are going past Lizard Island you may need to consider a Sat phone. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing
Awesome video guys - from Sailing SV Lukim Yu
Thanks 😀
So glad to see you both back. Great video 👌
Still on the roadtrip but catching up on videos 🤣
@@sailingbagheera-thebluenomads yes figured it was last year's footage. Hope you're enjoying the roadtrip but not too much so you can keep on editing. 😁👌👍
A big dose of nostalgia for us watching this episode 😍
I bet you are missing the boating life ⛵
Great under water shots , well done cheers
Thanks, we enjoy the snorkeling (not so much the video editing, hahaha)
Hey team. We're heading north this year with prime objective to snorkel the inner and outer reefs. Whats your top 6 places that offer good anchorages and snorkelling? Thanks
Miln Reef, Flynn Reef, Irene Reef, Agincourt Reef, Lena Reef, and St Crispins all good snorkeling and safe anchorages. Just pick your winds.
@@murrayshaw7783 that's fabulous. Thank you.
The boat is looking brilliant 👏
Thanks for that!
Always look forward to the next video, did you meet the crew from archer ?
Thanks. Yes we met them at Hope and Lizard Island. It was some of their children being towed by the motor boat. Lovely family.
Moving your channel to the top
Glad you are enjoying them. Thanks
What a brilliant spot of painting.
Thanks Ian. I found a better Wattyl product for the other bathroom.😃
We recently bought a 2006 Jaguar 36 and are living in it on an island in the Aegean :-) So we have a natural interest in your videos. Keep them coming. We have not yet got to the stage of editing our sailing videos yet, never mind publishing them.
Wonderful to hear from you- there are only a couple of Jaguars here in Australia. We would love to see your videos when you get to that stage, maybe one day when borders are all open, we could swap boats in Countries.
Thanks, I like the detail you provide when anchored etc , eg bunnings location etc. It’s all helpful and good to know👍
Thanks Tristan- glad it is helpful to you!
Good job all round
Thanks Shaun. We used Flowcoat on this job, but found a better Wattyl 2 pack product that we used next time. Much better to use
Beautiful scenes around the reef
The reefs out from Cairns are just the best!
Hey. Easy anchoring at Milln reef or was there public moorings? Thanks
There is only 1 public mooring, but anchoring is fine. Best with good light to watch for bommies though.
A quick sail up the coast
Keep the videos coming people and enjoy
Thanks Shaun- we are definitely enjoying the life!
Looks like you two have been doing it tough! Thanks for the latest episode.
Still living the dream!
Please, upload more video. We have lost you,.
Congrats on the 2yrs - big effort guys 👍
Thanks so much! May get to see everyone next year....if Covid restrictions ever lift.
Good to see the golf ⛳️ skills back
Just like riding a bike...haha
Can't believe that 2 years have gone by! It was 2 years that I had my birthday on board at America Bay. You both look happy ,well done, sail on, Bryan.
Thanks Bryan, we couldn't have done it without your help. We really appreciate the guidance you gave us.
Nice scenes especially Cairns in a downpour
The rain was torrential. In fact most of the way on the train, we could see water pooled besides the tracks. Good for the farmers!
