Some of the Best "Bang for Buck" Flow Trails Around | Thornhill
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Thornhill absolutely rocks.
There is truly something for every skill level at Thornhill, the trails are mainly all mild but the speed comes so effortlessly. Ease off the brakes and you'll be flying down these trails in no time, but all the berms are supportive enough where you can just lean in and rocket out.
Best part is Thornhill is basically rideable all year around, and there is only about 100m of climbing per lap.

An Iconic North Shore Trail | CBC, Mt. Seymour

If you are planning on riding any of the trails on Seymour you might as well start up near the top, and there's no better way to do that than to start from CBC. There is truly something for everyone on this trail, it flows surprisingly well considering most of the trail is rock armoured, and the optional double black woodwork and rock slabs make for great progression for any riders looking to c...

The answer is absolutely yes! Although the newly sanctioned Cambodia has been rebuilt for a much broader audience it still has maintains many of the big slabs and janky chutes that it has been known for all these years. This was our first run through the trail since it has been opened to the public and it is my first time back on the bike in over a month, so needless to say I was being a bit ca...

Nice.. and this trail is only getting better
Yeah! I love Burke, such a great trail network!
Log used to be the entrance 😢 (at least the last few years. Original way to get to Cambodia was via and entirely diff trail called Lola and was decommissioned by metro). Original Cambodia had no berms and used to be more janky that required more work to get flow. Skinnies were much longer etc. Original drops (11:06) are long gone. Original flavor of the trail is gone, but at least they left the rock rolls.
Yeah I’ve been watching a few videos of the original rendition of Cambodia over the past few weeks/months and it definitely isn’t the same. Everything seems way more janky on the old trail, but maybe with a season or two of break in a lot of those smooth flowing features with end up getting janky again. Would’ve liked to see it in person before the rebuild, but probably would’ve been beyond my skill level or at the very least beyond my confidence level haha
@@CoastTimesMTB I think I rode it first maybe 20 years ago. The rebuild (in addition to building berms, also filled in a lot of sections with rocks and first so it “flows easier”. Skinny over the swamp used to be double/triple the length. The drop I referred to was actually 2 boner logs you could drop off. There was no ladder roll. But….. not many people rode it then and it was hard to get flow. Now a lot of people are able to experience the trail that otherwise would not have. Different strokes.
They only left the rock rolls because they couldn't pave them flat. This trail is nothing to what it used to be. A lot of the people going down it today wouldn't have a chance on the old trail.
@@TheNoseman1 totally agree!
Name of the song/artist? Awesome video!
Thanks so much! I honestly can’t remember, it was originally a song from epidemic sound I believe. I’ll try to look it up and get back to you if I find anything!
“Not Blue” by Kylie Dailey
@@CoastTimesMTB Thanks! Was just riding these trails today. So much fun.
Nice, glad to hear! It’s been a while since I’ve ridden them, I’ll have to get back out and check them out again!
RIP to the absolute behemoth drops that used to reside in Janets Jungle years ago
Ah yeah, they’ve changed a lot of the trails around Robert’s creek. DNZ is quite different too.
Who's that on euc ? Friends, or you just run into them?
Just random people that were on the trail haha
@CoastTimesMTB fun trails. No wonder the euc guys were there.
Yeah they are super fast and flowy! Fun for all haha
This is the loamer trail next to CBC right? looks like it
This is the loamer above CBC, but quite similar looking trail.
@@CoastTimesMTB ohhhh yeah that one, the one that starts at that big building and drops you off at the gravel path above cbc right? I did that a couple days ago too
Yep that’s the one!
Thats really cool 👍. And that night sky is just magnificent
Thanks! Yeah, I took advantage of a little weekend trip and decided to get some footage. Turned out pretty cool!
Thanks for leaving some of the walking sections in. I just finished riding Cambodia for the first time and walked a lot of the same places. The first time blind on my own made it tough to get flow
Hahah yeah I figure I might as well be as transparent as possible! I’m in no way a “professional” so I’m not too ashamed of walking if needed. I went back a few days after this was filmed and had way more confidence knowing what to expect and managed to ride anything I walked before as well as ride a few more of the optional slabs. It really is fun to see how much progression can be made even with a slight confidence boost from riding the trail once through. As the saying goes: “Pre-ride, re-ride, free ride” 🤙🏻
Really cool vid, keep it this way
Thanks, will do!
Yiur riding is rlly smooth, are you gonna post more ?
Thanks! Yeah that is the plan, I’ve had some really busy weekends lately though and haven’t been mountain biking in almost a month…but hopefully back at it soon!
Thats a pretty nice ride, srry for being late 😅
Hahaha glad to see you back! We haven’t been posting much lately unfortunately. The summer has been quite busy, but hopefully more to come on the bikes soon!
Looks like a fun trail! The "death" sectionhas a nice ling run-out... 😉 🤘 Which trail is it? I dont think I recognize it, although I have seen a good majority of Seymour trails... 🤔
Beautiful. I rode these trails dozens and dozens of times for more than 10 yrs starting in 1999. Brings back great memories.
Wow! Does it seem like it’s changed much? I used to ride these trails probably around 2008-2011 but I was too young to really remember the nuances of the trails. Now in the last few years I’ve gotten back into riding and I love these trails!
@@CoastTimesMTB It hasn't changed that much really! Some more ladders and definitely some more stone work but very much the same. Your vid is awesome...but it breaks my heart. I truly loved riding Seymour, (Fromme and Cyprus too but not as much) however those yrs on the trail destroyed my neck and to a lesser extent my knees so I can never go back. And I was running a Stinky Dee Lux with a Marzocchi Monster Triple up front! BTW, boogieman, CBC and many of the other trails look much the same too. And I can't believe Cambodia isn't a secret trail anymore! Internet age, I guess...
@bravo2zeroCAN that’s cool to hear that it’s still got its soul in it! There are some trails on the shore that are more beginner friendly and would honestly be a great way for someone with some injuries to potentially get back into the sport! Cambodia has become a sanctioned trail very very recently (within the last month or so) not sure if it’s to do with the age of the internet or not, I believe nearly a decade ago they also attempted to sanction the trail but there was a serious injury and the trail was quickly closed to the public. I appreciate all your info, glad you’ve been enjoying the videos!
@@CoastTimesMTB Thanks. Keep filming! And yeah, those trails haven't lost their soul from what I'm seeing. It's a beautiful thing, man. FYI - I looked for Cambodia for years! LOL! Then in 2006 or 2007 a dude told us how to get there. I'll always remember, "There's a small trail off to the side, look for an old corduroy logging road in the bush, follow it until you see the old saw nailed to a tree off to the side, hike-a-bike to the saw and look for the old rusty kettle sitting on top of a stump in the distance...that's the start of Cambodia". It was an EPIC ride. And, btw, that one doesn't look quite the same from the vids I've been watching.
Hahaha that’s such a cool story! Unfortunately, that part doesn’t seem to be the case these days. Yeah, Cambodia has changed quite a bit from what I’ve seen. Pretty much all the big rock features still exist although 90% of them are optional now and they’ve kind of built a trail around all the rock slabs. Still a ton of fun though!
Right before I ride that section I'm thinking that it is harder than it actually is. I get to the bottom and realize it is actually fairly easy.
Hahaha yeah I 100% know what you mean. I was a little skeptical of riding it the first time but it actually does flow really well.
How did you upload this in December the bike park was closed
It was just backlogged footage from the summer just prior.
@@CoastTimesMTB ohhhh
Hahaha yep, we were just a little late to the party 😅

Cabin Fever on Mt Seymour
Would love a go at this trail❤😊
It is a super fun one!
Dang. Who built that trail?
I believe the trail was rebuilt by a company called the Dream Wizards.
@@CoastTimesMTB thank you for the reply.

Not to be that asshole, but PLEASE move off the trail when stopping, especially during repairs. Some dude is gonna come blazing and everybody is gonna have a bad day
Appreciate the advice, but minus the first 10 seconds of this clip we were well off the side of the trail specifically for that reason.
@@CoastTimesMTB oh i'm so sorry, just looked like you were still on the trail. Sorry for coming to a conclusion like that, after rewatching i can clearly see youve moved. Sorry, and happy trails!
No worries at all!
Thanks for the mountain bike ride, now I can cross that off my bucket list. 😂
Hahaha glad to hear 🤣🤣🤣
Nice
Thanks!
Geez even with the go pro you can tell how steep in janky it is
Yep! There a quite a few steep and janky chutes on this trail
Ooh... fresh dirt - nice!
Yeah it’s running well!
Wait what happened?
Bicycle ankle got broken
My derailleur hit a rock, and I have chain dampers that the chain runs through to help quiet the bike and keep the chain slap down. When the derailleur hit the rock it caused the chain dampers to spin into the spokes and it locked up the rear tire.
@@CoastTimesMTB wait, derailleur is the same in english and in french ?
Yep, that is correct!
Sick, wish I had a trail like that nearby
Thanks, yeah we are pretty spoiled here
@@CoastTimesMTB Do you live/have access to a lot of trails near Mt. Seymour?
Yeah I live about 30mins away from Seymour, but pretty much any direction I drive there are great trails hahah
@@CoastTimesMTB That sounds awesome.
Yeah if you have trail forks, take a look around Mt Seymour in North Vancouver, there are probably close to 12-15 trail networks within an hour or so drive
It only looks like that on camera.
I’d beg to differ, usually the GoPro makes things look much flatter on camera than in reality
That looks very easy
Funny, that’s what I said about your mom😅
Yep…looks can be deceiving, I watched two people just prior hit their front sprocket and nearly go over the bars down that chute
It always looks easier on a GoPro.
That was not dynamite btw
Well that’s good to confirm! I didn’t think it was on Cambodia, but wasn’t 100% sure. I appreciate the info!
@@CoastTimesMTB No problem good vid
If you walked some sections it must have been gnarly!
Hahaha yeah there were a couple sections that just required some more confidence than I had at the moment unfortunately. I think for the next time around I know what I have to do, so assuming I overcome the mental aspect it should be fine. Definitely some challenging lines though! Unfortunately the ratings are a bit all over the place IMO. This is a significantly more difficult trail than say Corkscrew, or pangor, or other similarly rated trails on the Seymour. But it is considered a black diamond trail with double black features, and there are a few sections of trail that I would consider double black and yet are mandatory obstacles. Regardless of how it’s rated though it is a really great trail to practice picking lines through technical features as well as for practicing brake control on the bigger rock faces.
Cabin trail felt more exposed/double black to me and it’s a single black.
@@pixelc9560 oh interesting, I definitely do think cabin trail was a more technically difficult trail, but I personally found the features on cabin trail to be in general a little lower consequence. I’ve since gone back and re ridden Cambodia with much more confidence the second time around and it was much more manageable.
The slabs on Cambodia are definitely higher consequence. The builders did a phenomenal job with the ride arounds to keep Cambodia appropriate for many different skill levels.
I definitely agree!

Great video, planning to ride there soon, in what month you guys went there ? And why month you suggest? I hate cold weather .
This was filmed last May. I personally prefer riding after there’s been a slight rain because the dirt is nice and tacky. Anytime from June to September you will probably have warm weather, but the later into the season the dustier the trails will get
Omg 😱my my 😢
That is a tricky section. Come to think of it, a good chunk of the trail is tricky. 😁
Yeah pipeline is definitely a slow and technical trail, but a very fun one!

Hey brotha, do you live near these trails ? Could just be my algorithm, but it seems you’re in them every day you can
Hey, we live in the lower mainland, but not near Fromme. We post a short everyday, but usually they are just different 30sec-1min sections of the same trail. Unfortunately we only get out 1-2 times per week usually, although hopefully a little more frequently now that the days are getting longer.
