Service Dogs have so many uses to people with disabilities .they can lead the blind , alert the deaf, retrieve , keep you grounded , alert to blood sugar changes , allergies and so much more. The dogs we use are rescued dogs mostly off of death row because of the over population. They are health tested and fully vetted after being evaluated to be a service dog. About 3 out of 40 dogs do not make it to be service dogs. They are then adopted out to someone wanting an emotional support dog or just another dog to join their family. By this time they have had all the service dog training but just didn’t make the cut. 22 Veterans a day take their own lives ,the dogs we choose are on borrowed time thru no fault of their own. So it really is saving a life on both ends of the leash. There is nothing better then to see a K9 team doing life again and thriving just not surviving.
