A little comparison demo between the EL34 and 6L6 Power Tubes in Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier (Series 2) tube amp. Both are Mesa-branded tubes. I think there's difference in midrange, but otherwise subtle. I prefer EL34 in Recto's for high gain, but 6L6's sound better for clean stuff. What do you think? Hello, great riffs! I am starting to be obsessed with single recto a little bit. Now I use JCM2000 DSL50 (not bad boosted with TS9). Do you think Single recto is better choice for metal stuff than DSL?
@@ft8900 Thanks! They are really different amps. DSL is great for classic rock and old school metal, as it is for Megadeth-style or thrash metal too. Great amp IMO. Rectifier has different kinda thing going on. Modern, US based metal with lots of low end and searing highs. You would maybe like to check out Engl amps too, they tend to have character from both of these.

Great vid! Quite the same sttings on my Modern mode, depends on speakers (EVM12L for me or C90). I LOVE this amp, no need of any boost imo 🙌

I'd love to know your settings for the "metal" segment @ 6:07 . . . sounds awesome. I'm trying to get my Roadster Combo Channel 4 to sound something like that.
Thanks for checking out! Unfortunately I sold my amp long ago. If I remember correctly though, I used very little bass and middle, treble and presence quite high. Gain about 5-6. Boosted with TS, gain 0, tone 5, level 5.

what delay are you using ?
@@PK22-b7v Digital stereo delay from the Axe-Fx. Old Petrucci-setting; 620 ms, 3 repeats.
Before modelers... people spent their days discussing 6L6 vs EL34, cold bias vs hot bias, ECC83 vs whatever.... Now it seems that nothing like matters anymore and they expect that a modeler out of the box sounds exactly like a real amp. Fractal doesnt even has a JMP model...
How do you find the mark iv compares to the roadster?

I have this amp too. Is fenomenal amp. It response very well in every frecuencies. It has a lot of mids. I used it with a little mid. Your tone is amazing.

Nope, it is powerful and tight enough. Engl amps don’t usually like boost pedals anyhow.

Kovaa kamaa! Muistan ysäriltä hetken kun kuulin SyX ekaa kertaa, taisi olla jotain 98 ja tämä kyseinen biisi oli jollain samplerilla. Oisko ollut Helldorado tms... Alkuun kuuntelin, että ei tuo nyt ole oikein mitään ja kaveri sitte sano, että "mulla on koko levy, Twilight In Olympus - kandee kuunnella" - siitä kun Smoke and Mirrors lähti niin teki mieli paloitella kitara ja polttaa vahvistin. Erittäin hyvä veto, lakkia kouraan!

Suena mejor la stomp
I've owned both and sold the mini to go back to the big one. Why? The feel and sound in the room has way more depth and dynamic response and feels like an amp channel and not pedal. Both are great pieces of kit (and can be found used for a killer price). The little guy has an active eq, but the big one has way more control over shaping the tone and you will miss the added features. Great stuff and good playing. Nice marshall too
