Pete Kuzma - Treehouse Sessions no. 7
I think most posts you see/ hear in this format have the tendency to tidy up the building of a track like this. Lots of cuts and splices. There is definitely some utility in that as the attention span of the viewer is not on the incline. Me included. But there's a ton that goes into making and building a foundation from which to play off of. Getting the right take, sound discovery, trial and error, etc. Having already found some sounds I was more or less happy with, I wanted to, again, share the process of laying parts down, looping things, gearing up for the next part. As it is with most improvisation, it is a snapshot in time- especially when the piece is through composed. Whatever take I would have done after this one would have been much different. As always, thank you for listening/ watching.

Not an uncommon progression but as I was writing for another project this melody came to mind. Sometimes ideas hit you in the middle of other sessions and you have to brain dump them before you can move on. It's kind of a quick cleansing. Anyway, I really love tweaking piano samples to highlight the character and ambience of the instrument. Bringing in some of the imperfections is more interest...

I had this little rough idea that I was playing around with and decided to capture the fleshing out in real time. Part of the fun of producing virtually anything is the process of creating your own palette of sounds and textures- which I did beforehand. Otherwise I'm sure you'd last 15 whole seconds before boredom set in. But here's the whole process of recording through the parts and looping c...

Quick song build for prosperity. With Ableton you can trigger different tracks to be armed so you can through compose your track w out stopping as it's looping, etc. These are fun because they don't necessarily need to go anywhere. This is a really fun approach to me. There is this kind of vivace patterned, recurring rhythmic motif which is sort of cool on its own. But the challenge is to infuse a melody while adhering to the integrity of the subdivisions and really leaning into some of those syncopations. Fun for the whole family :) Listen & Stream to more music by Pete Kuzma SPOTIFY: open.spotify.com/artist/1soVmt3it3JP...

Dear sweet listener, I can only assume your enjoyment would be further enhanced by throwing in some ear buds or wearing headphones. To rob yourself of any bass presence or low end would be… less than ideal. Nevertheless, the intent of this video isn’t a portrayal of perfection. Instead, the goal is to provide a little glimpse into the creating process. Normally some of these parts would be labo...

There are a handful of ways to approach composing music. Sometimes, for me, it's fun to impose some rules- I think it was Aristotle that said "Through discipline comes freedom". I can say more on this later. But because I love this particular piano sound so much- the felt is so prevalent and provides such a particular attack- it motivated me to create some sort of ostinato in the right hand whi...

BUS RIDE TO GULU "Bus Ride to Gulu," a musical creation crafted by Pete Kuzma, is a sonic journey that beckons the soul to embark on a profound adventure. Within this composition, the piano's soft approach, gliding gracefully in the unconventional 7/4 time signature, unfolds a rich tapestry of hope and inspiration. With every note, it conveys the effortless epiphanies and catharsis that occur w...

Thank you Pete for this lovely tune❤❤❤ Wish I had it with me when I took my actual bus ride to Gulu from Nairobi ( two buses actually back to back - wouldn't recommend it though 😅) Following your music now on Spotify. Wishing you all the best, Willmag.

The must meditative and healing music I’ve been listening to for the last decade. I discover Pete Kuzma on a LIVE concert record of Jill Scott specially on « Golden » solo he did. Since that time……. Pete Kuzma became an obsession. Merci Pete de partager ta musique aussi sublime (thank you Pete Kuzma for sharing your splendide music). (From #MontrealCity #Canada) 🇭🇹🇨🇦

Tt feels very fresh with feeling of spring, light, wind and flying petals from blossom trees. At the same time there are some kind of blue shadows but generally it sounds very bright and hopeful. :)

Ah this is so nice- the harp joining the piano sounds like the continuous driving, the piano mayhaps the irregular streetlights, the shaking of the bus due to the road, such a beautiful approach!
