Guitarist Nels Cline on His Musical Lineage
Creativity can take many forms-fusion, fission, abstraction, refraction, confrontation-but it always starts with something. Music, for example, even when it seems to transcend genre and time period, is rooted in (or responding to) the experience of its composers and performers.
In this interview excerpt, guitarist Nels Cline explains why he found the idea of a musical lineage “troubling” in his early musical life and which traditions eventually informed his “between the cracks” aesthetic.

Rest on Bisi Silva. You made your mark .
His work is an intentional experience! Love the visionary vibe he shares.
I just really love his energy and his work.
We couldn't agree more!
This is the most important statement for any musician today. Such and important message! Thank you David.
Thanks for watching! Glad to hear you appreciate David's insights.
Question! How is this opportunity open to people that are not popular, not an Ivy League or expensive art student at a private school/ university, or someone famous in his connected field? Its plenty of us that have been seeking this Museums are not open to it at all. I can think of lots of artist that can tell you major institutions to small private and public galleries & institutions NOT open to dance as an exhibit. Did the choreographer obtain a grant after the Curator found him....are they network acquaintances? How did he find the opportunity?
How much wealth does her family steal from the poor and innocent people of Afghanistan? Can she sleep soundly at night?
Interesting.
Interesting. Sonia Sanchez is a verb.

Fantastic interview, as an aspiring poet, I have come to my dear sister and elder late in life, but I'm glad spirit led me to her when it did. Ase'

Thank you. I needed this interview.
So glad it was meaningful for you.
I agree.
Hi
Hi
National treasure
Extremely interesting. I have been in awe of Allegra Kent since I first saw her on stage. I wish there were videos of everything she did. Her dancing in Symphony in C is transcendental. Her dancing in Ivesiana was groundbreaking.
We couldn't agree more.
I hope her sets for the new production of Sweeny Todd resemble London as it was during the time it's set, and not a contemporary rethink, ' to suit contemporary audiences'. That phrase always stops me buying a seat.

One of my life's greatest blessings has been being a surrogate Auntie to Emily for most of hers. I can't count the times I've been bowled over by her extraordinary talent. Her name will be known for her contributions to music long after I'm gone.
What an amazing woman
a godess speaks :-)
Happy Birthday Nat 'King' Cole. 💝
This video is a treasure. Thanks so much! Ms. Kent is as elegant and as thoughtful as ecer! ❤️🔥
