Ik was hier, samen met mijn vader naar de cross gaan kijken ,was toen 13. Herinner me nog heel goed die wolkbreuk tijdens de pauze. Vandaag de dag zou men zeggen,komt door de klimaatopwarming , toen was dat gewoon normaal.

Nostalgie, ging van Wellen met de fiets naar het stadsbroek. Ook de stem van deze omroeper herken ik zo goed.

I remember Jobe stopped at the sandpit psyching himself for the first attempt at the jump in practice. Then in the race, when he jumped past Malherbe, I remember seeing the underneath of his boot... great times. Does anyone know what type of leukaemia he died from?--I have leukaemia myself..

I was lucky enough to be right there, he had done it in practice, and Eric gobours tried and crashed heavily, broke his knee or something! I was meant to be in the support race but had brocken my wrist the weekend before .. Great memories.. he is a legend

dit was de tijd dat motorcros zeer populair was te zien aan de 10duizende kijkers zelf meebeleeft maar helaas de motorsport is gewurgd door de belgische regerijngen broodroof voor vele bedrijven en zelfstandige groot en kleinere en het afnemen van keuze uit sporte belefenis zou het terug komen op citadel al kruipend zou ik terug gaan !!!

Georges Jobe was one of the toughest hardest most skilled riders of his generation , In an era where there were 8 or 9 world champions on the 500cc grid. The battles he had with Thorpe, Malherbe, Geboers , Carlqvist, Nicholl were stuff of legend. Georges was the only man to do the double jump in the race. The first man over it though was the American Phil Larson in Fridays practice session.

I always though it was the sand pit he jumped and could never see how he made it work. Now I know why.

There was a Kawasaki advert on the back page of Trials and Motocross news for years with a picture of Malherbe in the pit with Jobe flying in the sky above him. The caption was. "Who Can Catch a Kawasaki".... I wonder how many bikes that advert sold. Brilliant.

I was at that jump when he did that. At the time it was amazing! We couldn’t believe he’d done it. How times change.

I remember him smiling to my Mom and me at Valkensvaard when i saw him walking by and i told mom who he is....
