Steve's Cabin
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 ก.ย. 2020
This channel is about our property in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. It has a cabin on it that is in really rough shape and it also has an old garage which is also in really rough shape. The good news is that it is a great piece of land with a beautiful pond. I will have a modular home built on the property, but I plan on repairing the existing cabin and garage. My goal is to use the cabin as a guest house for family and friends. There is a lot of work to do. I am no expert and I will probably need some help from my friends I make here!

Farm Gate Installation: Part Four!
มุมมอง 68วันที่ผ่านมา
The fourth and final chapter of this series. This is for the utility easement on my property. The utility (Met Ed) said I needed a gate at the entrance of the property. I called for quotes and people were asking me for THOUSANDS of dollars. For around $525 I did it myself. Farm Gate Installation: Part One!

Over the last month or so I have been working hard at installing a farm gate at the utility easement on my property in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. The ground is very rocky and makes digging the post holes very difficult. I have broken down the video in a few parts. In Part One - I dig the first post hole. I used my backhoe! Why are the deer so skittish? Predators or noise from your trail cam? And one of the deer had a distict marking at its neck. It looked like a rectangle shape of all white. Beautiful! ❤ By the way, nice footage of the deer on your property and thanks for sharing!
The deer do notice the red infrared lights that come on but there is no noise.
@stevescabin5441 Thank you! I only asked because someone had said that some trail came have a clicking sound or something?
They are really curious ?
Fix the road while it's dry.
I have to do some more work to that area. I will probably tackle that once I have my home construction done. But you are right - this would be a good time to fix it.
Wow that's a big difference from when it was flowing to what it is now 😮
Thanks for the update. Same here, very dry.
The deer rubs we had them in up North Michigan near our cabin I remember him when I was a kid.
Nice looking birds !
Looks great. Solid installation - good job 🙂
They look very comfortable. Just out for a stroll !
Bob is the man!
He is neat but it's either him or another bird pooping all over my bench! I have to clean it all the time!
@@stevescabin5441 hay they are just charging you for their work in your videos lol.😁
Nice job on the gate installation! I have the same type of gate at the entrance to my drive. I put a couple of 16 foot sections of 2 board horse fence on both sides of the gate. It dresses the appearance up and discourages 4WD trespassers from driving around the locked gate 🙂.
That's a thought. I actually have some boulders I was going to move down there. I just need the welder to weld the mechanical thumb on my backhoe and then I can pick them up and put them in place.
Big boulders should work just fine 🙂
You killed it 👍
There's an easier way to get that done pop! Ill do a video on it. That may be good for you butbits hurting me to watch! Lol I like the video though papa 😁
You get some nice catches on your trail cams. It looks like the animal population is thriving in your woods.
I love my shirt so much thank you
You're welcome! Keep on watching!
Looked like a job well done! That should really hold up for a very long time.
How can I contact you with my address?

💕 The family of bears and the scenery- Absolutely beautiful ❤👍👍
That's the dude that got my trash cans last weekend...
Definitely need to open the vent cap for a faster flow.
The cap is vented. I will see if just taking the cap off completely makes a difference - actually going to use it later this week.
@@stevescabin5441 Keep me posted. I am looking into buying one. Thanks..
How to you start & stop the water flow?
You pull down on the nozzle to start and push back to stop. It works really well!
Beautiful bird. You should point a camera parallel to the shoreline and see if Bob is fishing😮.
I have a clip of him fishing somewhere on here - right by the bridge. I think he missed!
Forst chippers are faster
I looked that machine up. You are right! But I have to use what I can get - and to be honest - I personally wouldn't be able to keep up with a faster machine! I actually have to do some more cleanup work and may have to get this machine again.
@@stevescabin5441 the best thing of the wood chipper vermeer bc700 xl is the autofeed with nostress
do you know what the lower door for is with the dip stick? I cant find out what goes in that is it transmission engine oil ? I know the top one is for the hydraulic oil but the lower dorr? cant find any info on that
Interesting job. I look forward to seeing finished gate.
Getting there! Handling lots of 50 pound bags of cement is killing my back! I will be putting on the finishing touches this coming week.
All i have to say again is very very cool.
Nice trail cam catch !
I haven't seen these cubs since then.
Looks like this will do your jobs. Way to show that patience and thinking things through will usually find the answers 😃
Thanks Sweeper. 30-40 years ago - many tools would be thrown and lots of foul language used!
Great Content love to see it coming
I was buying some plants from a local farm and a heron had a nest down at their pond. They told me a fox had been trying to get at the nest and just that morning the heron had killed the fox. Sooooo.. I wouldn’t pick a fight with with one 😬
I don't see Bob much - but when I do - I give him plenty of space! I saw him this past week just strutting around the lawn by the cabin!
If you engage the parking brake, you can get off the seat.
Yes! I discovered the locking tab a couple of months ago and have been using it now.
Wow to see that big blue heron he must have been about 4 ft tall.😮
That's what I am guessing! Not a small bird at all.
I ❤ ❤❤ deer! They're cute, especially the fawns!! I think the fawn in your video was also a doe? I was going to ask the name of the bird in this video but you wrote what it was so thanks. I've seen it before but couldn't remember the name. Thanks for sharing your videos with everyone! God Bless you and your loved ones and the cute animals in all your videos...
Cool video! Funny thing both of Lauren's labs dug big holes like that in her back yard. Now it's turfed over. Are they digging for voles? Maybe they hear them underground?
I am not sure. There are plenty of critters on the property but I haven't seen any on that island.
this is a felling axe not a splitting axe .
You are right! I got a splitting axe a while ago and made another video: th-cam.com/video/KTLtnr_vLG8/w-d-xo.html
You need to anchor the rear of the truck to something substantial. Like a tree.
You're right - now I have a backhoe which makes moving these boulders a lot easier!
Moles
You may be right. I will keep my eyes open.
Once again very cool stuff 👍 they are good hole diggers.
Nice 👍

Interesting video. Thanks !
The buck with the lump is snake bit. Buck lays down and snake curls up to a warm spot. Buck squishes him a little when he gets up and walla. Seen it on a KS doe a few years ago. It busted and she lived. Left a hole in her after it healed.
Beautiful bucks! But where are all the does? 🌝
There are tons of does around the property. I don't see the bucks that often but lately there is a group of these fellas hanging out. Since I had so many trail cam videos of bucks - I figured I would make a video.
@@stevescabin5441 I know they don't all show up at the same time. Thanks for your reply! 👌🌝
You were slowing your siphon velocity by leaving that large loop in your delivery hose. Is there a tank vent in the plastic tank? But it sure beats the alternative.
There's a vent in the fill cap.
Is there a breather/ vent that was supposed to be opened?
The fill cap has the vent in it. it was the handle just has to be pumped to get some air out of it I think. It flowed fairly decent once I pumped the handle a few times.
Use a large shaker siphon they are so much better. First no stupid safety latch crap and #2 you can see if water is going in. I give it 5 out of 10 i did work :0 In 2030 for safety reasons fuel cans will take four people to operate and 6 hands for the 7 safety latches and 1 osha approved firefighter supervisor on sight for "safety". I refuel heavy equipment everyday with clear plastic 55gallon drums and a cheap fillrite12 volt pump the original hose sucks but they do work.
I have used shaker siphons to fuel up my boat. I agree - I like them. This works OK. If the handle aggravates me any more - I will just eliminate it.
i should've bought a small backhoe when I bought this house. A B series Kubota would've been perfect. My 2 neighbors could've used one too, so we should've gone in 3 ways with it, then sold it when we were done.
relatively speaking - it wasn't a ton of money when you look at what you are getting. I plan on using it for a bunch of projects and then if I don't need it anymore - I will sell it for pretty darn close to what I paid for it.
@@stevescabin5441 In retrospect, that's exactly what we should've done. One of the issues was we were working on our houses in 2021, and it was tough to even get a dealer to call me back! I was ready to drop $30k on a Kubota too. BTW, this is Glenn C.
Looks like it will be easy to use i like that.
Oh, that's a fawn.
