THE TRAGIC LEGACY OF JOHN OF PATMOS, AUTHOR OF REVELATION! The more one reads Revelation, the more one ought to see just how much the writer, John of Patmos, was either completely ignorant of the teachings of Jesus...or how much he could not stand them! The god of the Book of Revelation is NOT the God of Jesus! They are two, completely different beings! The God of Jesus loves all unconditionally, forgives all of all sins and wants only for humans to stop causing so much suffering to one another. The false god of the Book of Revelation loves on a few, and even then, his love is very conditional. This false deity is utterly vindictive and is not only completely callous to the suffering of people, but is plotting to out do the worst of all the suffering every committed by humans! The God of Jesus is a love-filled, humble servant who washes the feet of his children, whereas the god of Revelation is an empty, megalomaniac who has some sick need to be surround himself with beings who praise him 24-7! The goal of the God of Jesus is to win every person with HIS eternal love. The goal of the false god of Revelation is to spend eternity watching billions writhe in utter agony, mostly just because he can! For those whose hearts are full of hate, revenge and envy, the god of Revelation, apparently, seems quite appealing. Blinded by their hatred, they long for revenge and can hardly wait to see everyone they feel has ever wronged them, suffer! But the God of Jesus taught us revenge never did, doesn't now and never will work! He taught the only solution is repentance and forgiveness, and by that he meant, WE each should be the one to repent of OUR sins and forgive all others. Poor John of Patmos! No doubt, he went to his grave with a heart full of hate and, if he ever thought his god would give him the revenge he was hoping for, was tragically disappointed and would have been even more so had he received it after all! The souls in his "heaven" could never know joy, because that only comes from forgiving those who trespass against us!
