"Training From A Dog's Point Of View"
Hi Friends, my Name is Dominic.
In many instructional videos, only ONE training method is presented. This method is then applied to all dogs.
But from my point of view this is the wrong way because there is no method that works for all dogs. Every dog and every handler is different. I'm gonna show you how i apply my different styles of training on different dogs.

💪🏻🫶🏻👍🏻
So after many many repetitions dog will just wait for a command to pick up a ball?
Yes, exactly!
Would you use this method to teach a dog to tolerate veterinary procedures or home husbandry they're afraid of? For example, once you have built, good duration, would you apply the "pressure" in the form of a vaccine or nail clip?
Yes, that would be an option to prepare the Vet check-up and vaccinations.
Clicker laden super erklärt
Danke! 🙏🏻
Obrigado
You’re welcome!
Danke an euch beide für das ausführliche Video . Thanks alot for the professionell introduction to the nepopo box
You’re welcome!
Can you record a video about protection work in aggression and pray? The differences?
Do you u use different markers for release + reward when it comes to food and tug/bite?
No, my marker could be any reward. I only have a different marker for biting the decoy / helper.
This content u guys provide is pure gold!!!
Thank you!
Thanks to micheal bishop channel Im also here:D Lets say you have a dog that is really hyped (whining in the car crate) when arriving to the new spot of either training or walking. Would you start it the same way u did with your dobbie or try other way to make him more focused on me instead of the environment and what is about to come.
That would be an option yes!
Fantastic!! 🎉🎉
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thank you for sharing how much time your dogs actually spend in training mode (15mins/day). This is very useful. I'm new to Working Trials. Been training pet dogs for 10 years and now going into mantrailing. Your channel has the best explanations! Much better than larger channels
Thank your for your feedback, really appreciate it!
Thank you so much! I believe this will help a lot with our Czech Vlciak, to make the corners much tighter. How far apart are the two poles? It looks like 1m but can't see clearly
Yes, it’s about 1-1,5meters!
You guys look amazing! Congratulations. Keep winning.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Well done, no easy feat 👏🏻
Indeed, thanks! 🙏🏻
Voll schön!🥰👌🏻
Danke!!!
How many scent dogs can detect
Hundred and hundreds! The dogs nose is nearly limitless!
Always a pleasure to watch you work - great training! Congrats!
Thank you so much!
Good job
Thanks!
Very nice bro❤
big boy ivar
It is a good exersise especially send away and lay down without using a e collar, thank u
yep, i agree!
I've been watching more than a few training videos of other channels and... I really like your style and how you show clearly I do understand much can be hard to explain but you do it very well I thought I would leave you a comment Thanks for the helpful video
Thank you, i really do appreciate your feedback!
I felt this! I'm only training my pet dog, bits of obedience, scentwork, and mantrailing. But it is so hard to not get mad with my dog even though I love him to pieces! It's my failing not his, but I felt better to know even pros feel like this!
I really like your videos, how you show real life training not just the best bits, and it's nice to see clicker training in this sport. I don't think I've seen that before. My dog swings out when walking in heel, he starts off looking up at me good focus and in good position, but after just a few steps he swings rear end out and will walk backwards in anticipation of reward! Any tips how I can improve that? Thanks 🙂
Have you tried walking with sticks / a barrier that once your dogs touches it gets back into position? Or its maybe because you rewward from your right side alot (if your dog is walking on your left side)
your dog is already trained to finish very close to you, so if we are doing this (i am) the dog will not finish naturally that close. so i repeat it daily over and over, same exact motions etc and the dog still will not finish as your dog does directly in front and looking up head basically on your stomach.
What helped my dog was either throwing something (ball food) through your legs to get him closer or place a ball / food behind your back and open / reward with it when hes coming closer
This is not a prey drive video. "Prey" is another animal not a ball
Where’s your prey drive video at? Don’t have one?
@@ThePoser010 You never end a sentence with "at."
@@greglegakis4177 no worries didn’t think you had one
How would you call that kind of drive in a dog?
@@trainingfromadogspointofviewI have to agree with the comment, my bull terrier wanting to chase rabbits, cats and chickens is very different to me restraining him in obedience training from fetching his water toy at the beach for example …
how do u get the dog to play with you
Well, thats not an easy question to answer. Try engaging with something that the dog likes and in the beginning, never give the dog the feeling of loosing it and try to make it fun for the dog while you interact with him.
@@trainingfromadogspointofview how long does it take for the dog to want to play with u
Never thought moving backward it would help with positions in movement. Thanks!
Yep, it does! You're welcome!
I tried doing this with toys, my dog lost interest because the toy stopped moving. Worked better with treats. We still have prey issues with her and small mammals, but we've been slowly getting better as theres an exotics shop near me. We do lots of training around the bunnies, chinchillas, rats, ferrets, etc. She finally listened to her eye contact command around certain critters (after the first request w/o corrections)
Update, did a short session but this time tried pulling back on the leash with "free" command and her attention span lasted longer
I would love to see a video of that!
Thanks for the video.
you're welcome!
Thanks so much, I am trying to learn tracking with very little help from my club. Thank goodness my dog is naturally good at tracking. Trust the dog.
That’s great to hear, keep up the good work!
What sort of age do you think this is trainable up to? I have a three year old GSD rescue that had no training when she was young. Do you think it is possible for her to learn this level,of control? She is basically like a puppy in an adults body.
I think it’s possible at ever age to get startet into drive control. Start very low and work your way up the distractions!
Dude where can you get the NePoPo hoodie? That's sweet!!
Unfortunately it’s no longer available for sale 😬
Please the second part
It’s on my list of to do‘s!
Nice job ....but how can l make puppy more interested in ball
Try building drive while playing with the ball by yourself, hold the dog back from getting the ball. Make it a game for your dog!
Thank you Kirbell. I read half of volume one of the handbook in one sitting.
Good lesson. I have a 16 month old GSD who has extremely high prey drive. He is obsessed with the ball. I will try this, especially with leash and ball on a rope. I have been using eye contact in my training and he is very good with it EXCEPT when I have a ball. He only has eyes for the ball. Also, he refuses to give up the ball, even for treats. I have a feeling I have a lot of training ahead of me. Unfortunately, I have a broken leg and ankle right now, making it difficult.
Hey! Glad you came to my video. Try it with small steps, everyday a tiny little bit more and you‘ll have success! How you feel better soon!
So glad I came upon your channel. Thanks so much for your videos. Question: where can one purchase the treat and toy pouches you are using in this particular vid. Please and Thank you
Hi! Thank you for watching. Where are you located? I do have some in my shop but I’m based in Germany.
Good video. Thanks
👍🏻👊🏻🔥
what an amazing sky 😊
Indeed!
I appreciate your content! Why is it so important to let the dog rebite instead of calling him off, sending him again, and rewarding him only after achieving a full grip on the first trial without rebiting?
why does the helper puts his hand on the dogs hand? to incourage him to stay on the bite?
It’s a way to teach the dog to push by using the opposite reflex. You push the dog slightly away and he pushes against the hand.
@@trainingfromadogspointofview ah okay. thanks for the reply
Lol having the puppy eat off the sand... idk about all that
What do you mean by eating off the sand?
Was there a part 2 of this video? Where you teach the dog what a slow sit is and how you teach the dog to sit faster? ie. How you teach the dog to differentiate between an fast speed sit and a slow sit that isn't rewarded. Your videos are great. Please keep putting them up.
Thank you for your comment. We have the Part. 2 on our to-do list and it will be published soon. Stay tuned!
You are one of the better trainers on TH-cam. Very informative and relatable, I can teach what I watch here!
Thank you for your kind words, means a lot to me 🫱🏻🫲🏼

I must just say that you have an amazingly good looking Doberman - we do not get this type in South Africa. We have incredibly deep chested Dobermans, they look almost deformed. Yours looks like a Doberman should, very nice.
Thank you 🙏🏻
