Ian & Halle Travel
United Kingdom
Hey! We're Ian & Halle. A Scottish and American couple who are based in London but love a good adventure abroad. You will always find us at the airport super early (contingency, people!), hunting for magnets (Ian collects these), or planning our next trip right after we get home from one (the best way to shake those post-holiday blues). We hope that these videos bring either inspiration to bust out your passport and hit the road or merely some light-hearted entertainment watching two introverts fumble their way through non-English speaking countries. Either way, thanks for watching!

At 13:50 I can hear on the speakers the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron say "JE DÉCLARE OUVERTS, LES JEUX OLYMPIQUES DE PARIS 2024 (VINGT VINGT-QUATRE), CÉLÉBRANT LA 33E (TRENTE-TROISIEME) OLYMPIADE DE L'ÈRE MODERNE!!!!!" Someone grabbed the microphone and translated the whole words in English to "The Wonderful President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron declares open, the Olympic Games of Paris 2024, Celebrating the XXXIIIrd Olympiad of the Modern Era!!!!!" and got caught by security and the French President himself and IOC President Thomas Bach, for translating those words in English, now everybody is going to remember what President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron said in French thanks to that person who translated it in English. It's just an Olympic Declaration!!!!! Get over it!!!!!
This was to Celebrate the XXXIIIrd Olympiad of the MODERN ERA.
It definitely is, great affordable delicious food there too 😊
Did you try kaya toast?
@ nope must have missed that one.
Thank you so much for this phenomenal vloge,I am going to visite Tanger very soon,I really enjoyed watching,I am excited 🙌🙏
Le "pont neuf" is a very old bridge near Notre Dame, then you have le Pont Mirabeau ( Apollinairre)..etc..
Yeah, we've been to Paris before and it was as you described unfortunately. It definitely had a safer, cleaner vibe over the Olympic games.
oin oin
It doesn't take 30 mins to walk from the station to the pier. About half that at most. 👍
Thank you for this very relaxing and pleasant-to-watch video. For your information, the business district at 15:57 is called La Défense. It's actually beyond Paris city limits, mind you. There is a Wikipedia page about it if you're interested. Paris itself is a relatively compact city, but it's surrounded by dozens and dozens of smaller cities which, together, form "la banlieue" (the suburbs).
Very nice video, FYI, the buildings in the background that "looks like soviet Russia" IS in the 13th district of Paris, and IS knowed as the chinese district, a lot of pple from the "Indochine" (former french colony) live in this district 😉
Very interesting!
Merci !
Being an (ice) hockey fan, the International Hockey League is like the minors from the NHL back in the day.
Do not confuse macaron with Macron ! ☺
I find only one delectable 😉
@@IanHalleTravel 😅
@@IanHalleTravel Most of us French people definitely feel the same!
On s'en fout !😊
This mistake should be less common as of 2027, as Macron will not be able to run for presidency. In France, a president cannot do more than 2 consecutive terms, though they should be eligible for a third for the next elections.
I don't see no crack heads.
I started seeing a lot of Paris videos prior to the Olympics, and I’ve always had a love for Paris….but the Olympics has made me love it even more. The opening ceremony was absolutely magical, I honestly felt like I was watching a James Bond movie, mixed in with the history of France and some Greek culture since the Olympics started in Greece. I was watching solely for Team USA’s Women’s 3x3 basketball team because my favorite athlete was on that team and was the only collegiate athlete on Team USA…..sadly, her team had a rocky start and got the bronze but she lead her specific team in scoring. Luckily though, getting the bronze and sadly getting sick before their first game due to all that rain, hasn’t stopped her from wanting to visit Paris again. I honestly wish they could run it back again, and keep on going.
I hope you asked for permission before tasting Macron xD
😂 I won't make that mistake again!
12:26 That's one thing you don't see on TV, the outside of the broadcaster studios of NBC and BBC.
Yeah, they got prime real estate!
You take the plane to go to paris from London ? Wtf is wrong with you, there is direct train
Correct! However, the Eurostar was sold out and it was twice as expensive as our flight. Also, good job we didn't take the train as due to the arson attack on the opening ceremony day we would have been stuck 😩
Nothing wrong with them, you loser. I have taken both the Eurostar and flown between London and Paris and it's a no brainer, flying is the better experience. And I went on Business Premier on the train which was a total waste of money. What's wrong with you?
I suppose it's instantly recognizable as French. Similar to bagpipes being played over Scottish videos. It doesn't necessarily mean the Scottish people enjoy bagpipes.
@@IanHalleTravel Hello, just a comment as a belgian to say that accordeons, even if they are totally outmoded, were more of a Belgian, dutch and north of France thing. I think that Jazz is more relevant when it comes to Paris. It has always been the town of new things, of flippancy, of cabarets. I think that for an continental european, accordeons are a weird choice to represent Paris.
The helium ballon is actually a meteorological one that you can ride for a small price which is awesome !
Yeah! The views were great 😊
I really liked your video, nice couple with nice voice. Thank you 😁
Thanks for watching!
3:49 It's a clitoris the person who designed it confessed it. J'suis Français.
Nice video ! Hope you enjoyed your stay and the events.
You are a very nice couple , thanks for the video..
olympics for the rich a joke (like always)
Actually, because we bought our tickets over a year in advance, the events were quite reasonable prices 😊🎟️
Now for the Paralympics you can find tickets for 15€. It's cheap. And popular, many school had invited for free.
The joke was on the grumpy haters.
@@ringsaphire’free broadcast’ - in the UK, the BBC coverages are trash. I don’t know about NBC though but I’ve heard they’re trash too
soviet russia ?
Russians were previously banned from attending due to a doping scandal, however the Olympic committee recently suspended them due to their invasion of Ukraine. Russians can compete as Individual Neutral Athletes though if they wish to attend. 👍
I think she talks about your comments about the social housing buildings in Choisy le Roi 😊
I watch LOTS of travel videos. I really liked your relaxed, casual but very informative narration in this video.
Thank you! That means a lot as we try and find our little space on TH-cam 😊
Susspected arsen attack it was an atrack i was at rhe beach the day it happened 2 dudes on a boat throw shit up on the deck
Crazy you saw it happen! 😮

Thanks for the recommendation! We'll have to check it out next time we're in the area. 😊
Nice, cute video !
In French, we don’t pronounce the famous pastry that everyone loves as “macron.” “Macron” is the name of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron. We say “macaron.” Don’t forget the “ca.” It’s true that television can’t show everything. I didn’t really follow along because I was working. Yes, that’s right! Contrary to some stereotypes, in France, we do work.
Thank you for the correction! I unfortunately speak 0 French so just assumed this is what I had always heard the pastry to be. 🤔 That's a shame you weren't able to see much of the Olympics. We loved it! Maybe you can make it down to Milan for the winter Olympics instead 😉
Lol maybe it's because I can't stand our president anymore but when she talked about the delectable Macron, I felt nauseous 😁 Nice video anyway
Haha! I'm going to have that visual in my head when I remember the pronunciation now. 😆 No delectable presidents here, only sweet confections!
And, when giving a vid an English-speaking "voix off" , you should better call them macaroons altogether anyway...
Dogs Not allowed On the Pier !!
I wonder why the pier admission people didn't say anything if no dogs are allowed 🤔
@@IanHalleTravel read the signs maybe thought was assistance dog
The Grand Hotel, the hotel where ABBA stayed, is better known as the place where Margaret Thatcher was nearly assassinated by an IRA bomb in 1984.
😲 That's crazy! We didn't know that.
Me and one of my German friends where going to do the Spain to Tangier day trip which I was excited about, however because he used his ausweis for the flight to Malaga we were unable to do it sadly.
Oh no! Hopefully you make it there soon. It's a cool city 🇲🇦
❤ did you get to the North Laines❤
We haven't ventured to the North Laines.. tbh I hadn't even heard of them until your comment. We love The Lanes, so will definitely be adding this to our itinerary next Brighton trip. 😊
Slight correction, it's just "North Laine", not "the North Laines". If you head out of the station and take the first left down the hill, North Laine will be the area to your right. A much nicer area to stroll through towards the seafront than heading straight down the road that leads from the station. The area consists of a number of streets, so pick your route carefully.
❤ thank you ❤
It’s nice to see Brighton through tourists eyes as I live in Hassocks half an hour drive away and go to these places on my days off.Lovely.x
Thanks for watching! We love Brighton 🌞
Nice 👍 one guys, would you do it again Ian?
Yes! Although that's much easier to say now that 5 months have passed!
Nice one guys hope you enjoyed Brighton thanks for coming all the Best Ryan 😊
Thanks! 😊
Nice video guys. Only one gripe thankfully, unfortunately you cant see the White Cliffs of Dover from Brighton as its over 100 miles away, the white cliffs you saw were Peasehaven or BeachyHead just passed BlackRock far east of Brighton. ❤
Thanks for the correction, and for watching 😊
Yeah those cliffs start at brighton marina & run all the way to Rottingdean (just before peacehaven) where there's a gap
The cliffs range from Black Rock to Peacehaven. The gaps are at Saltdean and Rottingdean. You can’t see Beachy Head from Brighton.
Came across your vlog by chance. Glad you liked Brighton. It has some good and bad parts like most places but it looks like you made the most of it. Side note, that was not Dover in the distance, but Beachy Head. Equally as beautiful tho.
Thank you for the correction and thanks for watching 😊
You guys are such a cute couple! Love the matching ponchos ☔Can't wait to see more adventures 🌍
🤗
Amazing! would you say this is safe for a woman alone? i’m planning to visit Seville for a week, thought this would be an amazing day trip if it’s safe
Thanks for watching! Overall I would say it felt safe. Safer than we thought. We were with a guide so that helped, although I wouldn't have felt unsafe roaming the streets ourselves. You may get pestered more from vendors trying to sell you stuff but that's standard for any touristy city I guess.
So much has changed; we left Tangier in ‘65 but our childhood lives and hearts remain.
Hello Thanks for the great vlog. I also visited this amazing city last week for the first time. You mentioned you hired a guide for the day. Can you please provide details of the company you used and how much you paid. Also what was the price of the return ferry crossing as a foot passenger?
We booked through a man called @nabil.sayed.1042 (can be messaged on FB) who set us up with our guide for the day. It cost roughly 100€/per person for the full day tour 😊 As for the ferry, it cost around 71€ for a return ticket per passenger.
Good vlog
Looks like you had a great time 🙂 Thanks for sharing! 🧡
Another great adventure! Can't wait to see where you go next 🧳🗺🌍😎
