Site Clearing January 2002 bush fires Bilpin

A bush fire has been burning for a week in the Hawkesbury district and is approaching Bilpin. One dark night a good friend turned up with a D9 and authorized the driver to push the tree line out 60 meters all round. As it was a section 44 at the time it did us a great favour.

Bellbird Hill, Hawkesbury District. To go shopping from Bilpin we call it going "Down The Hill" from 1,800 feet elevation to about 30 at North Richmond.

This was my neighbours place back then. Still makes for a stressful watch all these years later.
Yes it burnt down years later with a plain old house fire so I’m told.
Awesome!
I've never seen an E9 in an MH before... Of course you don't see too many of them out there at all
Mack , if you want to sell trucks bring the V8 back unrestricted!! Fu** th government!!
My hat is off to this Driver!! The best!!
Красавец, еще и на клиньях!
Mooi geluid van een dikke v8
It's a shame they don't make trucks like these anymore
Hi John I just found this post of yours . I watched it all . Good job.
Thankyou, it was something I always wanted to do, the "Australian way".
Interesting footage. Thanks for sharing. How do you think you will fare this bushfire season?
Where are you writing from? We'll still get bushfires and it's nothing to do with global warming crap, it's to do with not being "allowed" to do hazard reduction burns in cooler months like we used to. Now there are piles of forms to fill in if you want to do a burn and most times you get knocked back by the big brother RFS sitting in their ivory towers in Sydney. They like to control everything.
Uitstekende video mooi gefilmd zo vanuit de bulldozer lekker naar dat geklapper luisteren van deze dikke v 8
Great video mate. Would it be ok if I use some of it in a video I'm making about ember attack?
No problem, go for your life. The full version is here th-cam.com/video/Iox8dWyRZdQ/w-d-xo.html Also another video on my timeline of the more recent fires in 2019 in this area (Bilpin) We are facing a big problem with all this stuff because there is not enough hazard reduction being done for the simple reason of too much red tape and too many forms to fill in just to be "given permission" to burn a bit of scrub. Too much "health & safety" rubbish these days as well. In this clip you will see a friend of mine who is in the rfs nearly lost his house which had smoke just starting to come out of the roof because the NSW fire brigade refused to go in to the house without breathing equipment. My mate Sam grabbed a hose and went in himself and extinguished a small fire in his exposed rafters that was just beginning to take hold. You will see the guys in breathing equipment turn up as he comes out of the house. th-cam.com/video/35xqkevD7mA/w-d-xo.html
I like it i like it alot the sound that its making all most make ya sticker pick out 😆 great video
That street is unbelievably pretty. Thanks for sharing. That road was meant for that truck, they look so good together. 😂 Such tight squeezes it's terrifying. She sounds like a locomotive in first gear, or were you taking turns in second or third gear? Awesome stuff.
Shitty Little Goat Track . A couple of " Pucker " spots for sure . Beautiful Old Ultra-Liner . I personally always liked the R-688ST Value-Liners .
Looking at the drop offs I'd say they could have drove the coast to the road for pickup but it could be my fear of heights talking..
What coast? this is on Mt Tootie, NSW Australia. Google it!!
One of the greatest american built disels
Absolutely awesome 🙌🏿
If scania had jakes
Sounds identical to International DVT 800
Hi is that john keeble from billericay
Hi Roger, sure is, I did send you a message when you sent me a friend request. My email is bilpin07@gmail.com if you want to drop me a line on that. This video by the way, the lady beating the carpets is my sister in law Pat, she lives in Plymouth but used to visit us in Australia every year. The other girl was my wife in happier days, she died from Alzheimer's in July 2021. I live in Bilpin, NSW which is 80klm north west of Sydney.
Love V8 Sound💪💫
That Mack Cabover V8 Is An Epic Fucking Beast😎
The guy filming up on the ROPs has a good point to jump if they went over the side ! Wow
I would love to drive this big girl through adeliade BLACK SMOKE!!!
enjoyed-you shared outstanding ,John.:)
Vale Richard Evans a man of many talents that he should be remembered for above all else…..Gary and Victoria lovejoy
I want a altraliner with a e9 to restore and use! It has to be lefthand drive!
That’s sad
Yes a sad song indeed, that fire was caused by the army doing live fire practice on a bad fire day up near Lithgow. It was stopped at Bilpin by the RFS including Tony Abbott who was Prime Minister at the time and he turned up driving his fire truck with his crew and worked all night doing a back burn with all the other crews.
@@johnkeeble3068 where are you located
@@aussiefarmerboy245 Bilpin NSW, what's your interest in the 59 club? I am member number 3544, joined at Hackney Wick 1963.
@@johnkeeble3068 what is the 59 club
@@aussiefarmerboy245 My mistake, I clicked on your channel and saw the 59 club listed but it was mine I was looking at, not yours. The 59 club is the biggest motorcycle club in the world based in London where I come from originally. It was started by a vicar in the east end of London in 1959. I joined in 1963.

What SWEET music i have a friends V8 mack in my videos check it out
🙈 Promo-SM.
why didn't you leave earlier?
They stayed to protect the buildings, if they had left everything would have been destroyed, it's what we do! The noise you can hear like a motor going are the water sprinklers on the roof, they were instrumental in saving the place. At about one minute 44 you can see droplets of water on the glass, that is because the strong wind generated by the fire was blowing the water back on to the buildings, so keeping it damp and preventing it from catching fire, the building is weatherboard. The young lady you can hear in the video had a few days previous to this had a similar experience at her fathers place further up the road when the fire hit there. This place was her mothers.
I don't know what is better sounding. Mack V8 or Scania V8. I'm just ⚖️ it up which is the best soundtrack
Mack V-8 is deeper and stronger due to the larger pipes Scania likes them skinny and hi pitched for some God awful reason I can’t imagine
Great shots - thanks for sharing
Sounds great and great video but doesn't anyone know how to hold a camera anymore
Just listen to that growl!
560 hp!
I drove one with the Williams air throttle with the pressure turned up putting 690 horses at the wheels
That brings back some memories. I've spent a bit of time in a V8 Ultraliner pulling a 100 tonne float. They were made for it.
looks like Australian bushland in say Gippsland victoria?
Track down from Mt Tootie at Bilpin, NSW
