Love hearing from different people and farmers from around, not to mention those are some great tractors! We farm in northwestern Alberta, currently we’ve got a mahindra 8560 loader tractor, Lamborghini 1300 premium, 4800 Massey (tuned up to 265 HP), we have a 265 Massey however it needs some work, and an old co op E3 tractor that I’ve shown in other videos :)

Appreciate the comment, my dad’s combine which is the one that has issues is a 1995 with around 4500 hours on it roughly. It’s got a lot of life left in it and they make new parts for this combine front to back which is awesome. Every 10 or so years one of our combines typically needs to go in for a more major fix/preventative maintenance. Mine for example a few years ago got the cleaning mechanisms all replaced new and all the wear parts, aside from the rotor. Even though it was a big bill it’s Pennie’s compared to a new or even new to us machine that could/will eventually have issues. 😊 Hope this helps to show our side of it. Cheers 👍

@@3RDGENFARMS I grew up on a hay farm. I can imagine what a new combined cost I've heard it's around 800k but not sure. I run an Auto Repair shop here in Texas. So I understand not wanting to purchase another car. I'm glad you can still get parts that half the battle. Glad you have a great shop that takes care of its customers

Is that with WAAS or RTK? In our tractor and sprayer with WAAS we’re within 1” and yet with our combine I find we’re closer to stayin within 3” and sometimes up to 6. We have our T2 box mounted sideways underneath the side console just by our feet. It’s close enough for us however I wonder if moving the T2 a bit further back and having it sitting flat might help? Or we could spend the money and get the subscription for RTK however it kind of sucks considering how much the units are to start with. I can’t think of the actual settings off the top of my head but hopefully this helps.

I’m not super familiar with tonnes per hectare unfortunately but from what I calculated I think it comes out to being around 3 tonnes per hectare 👍

@@3RDGENFARMS Here in England We get about 4 tonnes to the hectare here on average but it is winter planted so longer growing season. Good luck with rest of your harvest.

Thanks, great to hear from someone in a different part of the world! Other farmers around get a higher yield but for us on our small farm these are good yields. I always love seeing posts about the yields over in England and other parts of Europe, always blows my mind! (Typically they are pretty high compared to our yields)

I agree, in order to get 1 combine that does the same/more than both our combines would be a pretty big step up and cost a lot more money for the combine, header, repairs, fuel & they’re just not as simple. For us we just don’t need all those bells and whistles that can mess up. 🤷‍♂️

You bet! Very lucky and fortunate to have this kind of weather during harvest.

We’ve thought about it, it’s a possibility however we like the simplicity (less moving parts) of the rigid headers. Also to maximize the capabilities of a flex head it’s best to roll the ground after planting however we don’t have a roller and for our size of farm it’s hard to justify a roller. 👍

There are no laws regarding fluorescent in equipment. The reason I am is because these are the same coveralls I use for work (where I need high vis) and I typically like wearing coveralls on the farm as it keeps the grease and chaff off of my clothes a bit better. Thanks for the question 👍

Our peas didn’t like the excessive moisture in June and early July. Then the heat took a good amount of yield off of the Canola while it was flowering. And finally the wheat I think did decently with the rain and the hot weather didn’t affect it too much. I think our peas will be below average this year but the rest of the crops weren’t hoping for average.

@@3RDGENFARMS how far out are you from Swathing?? I know Alberta is all over the place in regards to crop stages

We’re going to hopefully start tomorrow! Canola appears to be ready to go. Once we’re done there we may be starting to combine our peas depending on the weather.
