I remember she did the photo shoot in the Source with Bo$$(RIP), Dee, LeShaun, and Nikki D. Back in 93…the accompanying article mentions this track and how dope she was…living on the West Coast at the time I wasn’t able to hear this joint until several years after the fact. She was definitely one of a kind. Boricua bad girl with the unorthodox flow. Loved hearing her rip mics in Spanish. Saludos mi Reina descansa en paz.
Samples "Give Me Your Love" by Barbara Mason (1972), "It's a New Day" by Skull Snaps (1973) (Drums), interpolations of "Jungle Boogie" by Kool & the Gang (1973) and "Wishing Upon a Star" by Rose Royce (1977). Erick Sermon also used this 'It's a New Day' drum sample beat on "Can't Hear Nothing But the Music", "Head Banger (Remix Radio Edit)" (feat K-Solo and Redman), "Hittin' Switches", "Imma Getz Mine", "The Ill S---" (feat Kam and Ice Cube), "Stay Real (Remix)", Das EFX for "Mic Checka", "East Coast", "Straight Out the Sewer", "Gimmie Dat Microphone", "Host Wit Da Most (Rappaz Remix)", "Baknaffek (E-A-Ski/CMT Remix)", and for Redman's "Watch Yo Nuggets" on his album "Whut? Thee Album".
Some crazy shit... Im from DC and I had a Jamaican chick i used to cop tree from that had a nephew from NY that was slanging mix tapes. I would always burn a few with him and he would gimme tapes... he gave me a tape with that had this joint (like a radio syndication tho), a bunch of other good shit and best of all Biggies mix tape joint on the other side!!! I still got the tape too lol
Damn, I remember hearing it on Stretch and Bobbito and never again and something just reminded me about it and here it was. Whao. This was pretty dope.
I remember i bought a Redman mixtape and this track was on there. I was anticipating Hurricane G's LP. Overall her album was a disappointment, but i LOVED her style as an emcee. She was HARDCORE and RUGGED. She reminded me of a female version of Redman. Just RAW. My top 5 female emcee.
Hennessy Charles I think she ain’t had the right promotion nor good people around her. Erick Sermon did say Diddy gave her a deal in the late 90’s. But wtf Erick Sermon didn’t try to get her a deal with a good label like Def Jam? Why didn’t he gave her a deal last year? This guy was gonna hell Craig Mack with a deal before he died, but he can’t help Hurricane G smh. The last recent album she did was with Thirstin Howl and Spanish Hip Hop album around 2012 or 2013.
