I think Peeta losing his leg is better left out because the wrap up & chaos of the win came off better on screen. The flow was better. He already was slower & louder etc than Katniss.

I definitely recommend the books if you haven’t! Details like this really add more, since peeta being an amputee really changes things and adds context to why he struggles with running away from the fog and things in catching fire

In the books of the hunger games, peeta in an amputee. He loses a leg after the first games so through the rest of the series he has to wear a prosthetic since he only has one leg.
