The Doom has a story, it's just not shown in the game 😅 It was in some text file in the installation directory of the original game, but i'm sure it can be found somewhere on the internet. The Doom only shows you the continuation of the story when you finish some chapter. It's how games were done back then. You often had to open a paper manual from the box you brought from a shop to learn the story.
