I loved his character, he was abused/rejected by his insanely religious father that didn't know how to deal with life. As an adult he tried to be the best Christian, but it didn't prevent evil from being all around him. He was a man torn by old religion and reality. His reality his survival meant he could not rely on the old puritans interpretation of faith. I like that, as we all try to be faithful but find that in reality you can't fight the greater evil in this world. So you stop fighting you become a robotic worker or you chose compromise. As all your teaching of honesty make you a victim in this world. So you do what it takes to gain a better life.... little white lies, an exaggeration, you ignore the compromises to honesty and just assume all well all work out.

He's so underrated in this role. If you've ever been around these people, he's surprisingly believable. Definitely not the strongest season, but he was great.
