I appreciate the work you do. I myself was failed by DCF. My name was out on the listing due to being a domestic violence victim, endured postpartum depression and was failed by DCF, hospital and most importantly the justice system. I was only made aware of the registry because I applied for a job years later, I never received a letter from DCF of their decision. I gave up because I felt like there wasn’t anything I could do. I’m black, living in poverty. I don’t have any power to go against them.

I have a question. My wife left state with our 10 month old child, that she lied about and told me he was mine and i signed the birth certificate. Anyway, i didn't know where she was at for 10 years and out of nowhere i get hit with papers saying that i owe child support that is way behind in arrears. Next, i get told that she lost custody of the child and he is now in foster care. I don't have the financial means to support him, i have mental issues and I'm a recovering addict. I want what's best for him and him to have someone who is willing to love him and take care of him like i can't. Can i legally relinquish my parental rights since he's in foster care?

Love your work! I have an active case which just went supported even though the doctors for my child including his endocrinologist (he's a diabetic type 1) said that my sons school completely overreacted by calling DCF and filing a 51a. Just because the complaint came from a nurse at my sons school, they completely ignored what I've been doing and how I take great care of my son and his disease. I also have a daughter. Now, I have been found guilty of NEGLECT! Even though I brought my son to the hospital when he was sick with ketoacidosis last month and then again when dcf demand i bring him to the hospital or they were going to take custody of both my children!! He wasn't sick at all when dcf investigator Lindsey Pouliot gave me an ultimatum. Being your son to the ER right now or im going to the court and taking custody of not only your son but your daughter too. This was after 2 traige nurses told me it was NOT necessary to bring my son to the hospital since his blood sugars were ok, and he wasn't showing any symptoms of ketoacidosis nor any ketones in his urine. They wanted me to home.monitor him. That's their protocol. My 2 children and I ended up in the ER anyway that night for 4.5 hours just to be told my son was fine and healthy and could go home. The ER doctor was more concerned about a dcf investigator playing doctor than he was about my son being sick. 2 days later, at my sons follow-up at his endocrinologist, he had the best A1C he's had in almost 3 years! I'm a single mom, but I take care of my babies the best i can and know how. It's been very hard since February 20th. We lost my mom unexpectedly (the kids' grandmother) who lived with us since before I had my children. She was helping me raise them even though dcf didn't care for her either. So, I've been on my own 100% since my mom passed in February. Both of my children's fathers are deceased, and so is my father. I have no family. I trust no one, really. Every time I trust someone, dcf gets a 51a report, it seems. I would love to hire you as my attorney! I don't know I can afford you through. My children and I are living paycheck to paycheck off of survivors benefits from ssi from my deceased children's fathers. Well my case was opened because they said I was using and I wasn't I have over 7 months of clean tests never tested positive while this has been open, and the secretary at the DCF office call her Friend and tells her about the case and she saw me at the office, (because my girlfriend has mutual friends with the secretary) Does HIPa protect us in MA against this ? Hi Kevin! I currently have DCF in my life. I was accused of negligence, but I am ultimately not a negligent parent. I am commenting to ask if I ahoild look into getting a lawyer. I am not working, but my bf does. He only works part time though, and receives state income. Do you know of a low cost lawyer or attorney who hates DCF if needed? Even though I don't have much, my fight game for my kids is strong. So far, I have had 3 visits... two was for the initial investigation. The guy Hayden told me that he was not concerned for the boys, and that he was gonna contact his supervisor, and we should expect a call within 3 days, which we sis not receive. Question. My girlfriend and I just had a baby recently, and she had an open dcf case from her previous child who I am not the father of. I have been willingly enrolled in an addiction recovery program for 8 years of sobriety. The Social Worker keeps pressuring me to sign a release so she can see if I'm clean, but I'm not foolish enough to allow anyone access to my medical records, let alone dcf. The providers at my program said they cannot give my records without a release, and can provide signed compliance letters to prove I attend the program and am compliant with all of their regulations. I am going to provide one such letter at my next opportunity, but if the social worker deems it to be insufficient, can they legally require me to sign a release?

If they are calling you to visit, no questions, get a really good recorder, and protect yourself, no need to let them know until you’ve absolutely had enough, then retain a good lawyer and give them some medicine for all the other families they’ve screwed over…. I wish I would have seen this sooner…. Everything happened so fast I didn’t realize certain things could be negligent. Ex. My middle child is 5, extremely picky eater she eats plain pasta almost every day for lunch, I make and put in thermos still warm but request that it be heated as needed. They made a statement that I don’t include ice pack and they feared her becoming Ill 🤯 the pasta is put in a thermos to keep heat, chips/snacks don’t go in the refrigerator, so I can’t even believe the state put these things in writing and that’s not even the worst - they claimed I lied saying my son with cerebral palsy was not able to walk independently…. But they saw him walk!!! It literally makes me sick they would make such a statement and to Dcf! I got entire record, it is so sad how they hold people’s past against them. My oldest daughter is 9, since the day she was born all I have done is anything possible to be a better mom, constantly getting additional education on parenting and advocacy, but none of that matters in less than 5 years there have been like 40 something reports filed!!! In all of those less than 5 were investigated and up until recently all were unsupported and believe me they did extensive investigations, to the point I had to contact the ombudsman because they took a lot longer than allowed to investigate and believe me they talked to everyone possible to support the report. I really wish I knew what to expect….. definitely keeping your info. Thank you!!
