DAY IN THE LIFE | FOMO & Having a Wholesome Childhood | First Day Of Kindergarten Homeschool
#homeschoolingmom #homeschooling #dayinthelife
Today I give you a glimpse into what our first day of homeschool looked like in our Charlotte Mason-inspired kindergarten. I started the day not too bright, but a bit too early for me, with some Bible study and prayer time before my children woke up and we spent our day connecting, learning, and playing together. I won't lie, seeing kiddos head back to school did mean I went through some school fomo and questioning myself. But seeing my children stop at every little thing in nature to marvel at it and wonder about it really put things into perspective : what a rich and wholesome childhood they have!

    Homeschooling can really be isolating. 4 years ago I started homeschooling with 3 of my friends and their kids. Then, each year 1 of them would have no choice but to send their kids back to school. Now I’m the only one left homeschooling. It could be really sad but I know I am doing what’s best for my girls and they love it. Like you, I also give gifts on the first day of homeschool and we do a lot of nature studies and love to stay outdoors. Thank you for visiting my channel and I’m happy to follow you along.❤

    Thanks for sharing Nives! Yes, it definitely made me question if I could do this, if it's the right thing I'm doing, if they're missing out etc. But I'm glad I had the experience of sending my kids to school because I remembered how much I missed them, how I didn't know what they were doing while at school, etc. I also know that each start of a school year just naturally has a euphoric atmosphere. It's a new year, a new chapter. There's so much excitement. But that eventually dies down. I kept asking my eldest if she was happy to be home vs school (after we did some work together) and she keeps saying yes. It's genuine. I'm happy I made this decision. I'm sure I will always question myself but I'm reminded how much God has put this on my heart! Here's to a great homeschool year!

    I’m partway through this video and I love what you’re saying. I’ve never been a big career woman and really just want to be home with my babies. My husband is the one who sees other women earning six figures and wishes I would do the same. Sometimes it’s hard to deal with the pressure from him but I just keep doing what I know is best for my kids.

    • @NivesScott
      @NivesScott 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really pray your husband comes to realize how wonderful it is for your kids to have you at home with them. My husband has had that experience with his mom (though she didn’t homeschool them) and he speaks so highly of having his mother at home during his childhood, so it didn’t take much to get him on board. I was more the one who, like your husband, looked at the six figure earners and felt fear of forfeiting such life. Societal pressure is so strong, and we need to re-prioritize the truly meaningful things at the top of our priorities list. Money is necessary but not more necessary than time to love, nurture, care for and educate our children. ❤️

    Thank you for an inspiring video. I lost my father four years ago during covid. My daughter was in kindergarten when school closed early for the year. And I was pregnant with baby #3. We wanted to homeschool but I was an emotional wreck between pregnancy hormones, worry, grief, guilt, feelings of uncertainty … I didn’t feel I had it in me to learn how to homeschool. We went with a cyber school for a few years. Anyway, I didn’t shield my children from my emotions. I think it’s ok for them to see me like that, it’s life. I’m pretty sure I ended up in a depression of sorts, it just took me near two years to figure it out. Holidays and get togethers had little meaning to me anymore. Then one random day I had this intense feeling of happiness and joy, I had never felt so good in my life. I truly believe it was God helping me out of the dark place I was in. I’ve been homeschooling my kids since then. I still have hard days, the anniversary of his passing was recently and I didn’t hide my tears from the kids. They need to know it’s ok to cry if you need to and to miss someone. I just wish my dad could have seen what we are doing, he was a teacher😢

In this way you will win the respect of those who are not believers, and you will not have to depend on anyone for what you need". • @NivesScott
      @NivesScott 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much! I found in my personal experience when this happened (where my child demands help in something they’re capable) is my child’s need for connection and nurturing. So I try my best to not battle it in the moment, I embrace them, love on them and then usually that’s all it takes. A lot of these moments aren’t as complex as we look for them to be. I also praise them to their siblings (but you could do that even just to them or their father) on that particular skill (among other things) later on, when not in the middle of needing to perform that skill “wow Annie, you’ve really worked hard at learning how to dress/undress yourself and you’re so good and capable at it” . Good luck mama!

      Thank you for such a sweet comment! Where abouts are you? So French wise, I’ve been lazy 😅 but I grew up in French and have done all my schooling in French so my plan is to stop being lazy and do full immersion in French a few days a week. On a side note, I’ve learned French that way at 8 when I arrived in Canada and a year later I had zero accent. Now I understand it would be trickier if it was a foreign language to me, in that case I think I’d probably rely on exposing them to a fluent speaker (I’d also be fine with some screen time in French personally) in addition to the lessons I’d do with them. My daughter is 3.5 and we are moving towards some home preschooling. We just completed reading the first 2 books in the little house series. That gave her an introduction to the concept of school and learning. That lead us to some role playing and pretending w dolls. We have a slate that i plan to give her for more props and i hunting for a tin pail for lunch. This may sound silly but i want to make learning just as fun as playing so its not like a job or chore for either of us. Hopefully i can get more structure as we move towards winter. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.❤

      That is so sweet. That’s exactly what I would be doing at that age too. You’re already well ahead of the curve reading little house books to her, and then integrating the play as part of it is so natural to her. You’ve got this mama! ❤

    Really enjoyed this talk as I clean. I have Mother Culture in my shelf and can't wait to get to it. I can totally relate to reading at a slower pace. Blessings mama! Hope you are having a lovely day! 🙏☺️💗💗

    What is the song playing in the background? It’s familiar but I can’t put my finger on it.

    Curious to know how you prepare yourself as a mother for a new year of homeschooling?

    Devastated and betrayed by my best friend. I need to learn to trust others and to make friends. My beautiful 3.5 yr old loves all people of all ages an i have to heal in order to get to this place.

Intendinting to start this winter as she will be 4 in feb and people keep asking if she is going to prek. I have some learing disabilities and im appregensive to go down tbis path but i know in my heart that it is the right thing. She just started sleeping through the night so lets just say im burned out and not ready for what comes next. Thank you so much for sharing❤

    Careful home training free from useless waste, is the foundation of homeschooling. You made the right choice. Mainstream education is only interested in producing employees. No room for creativity and sifting out occurs if a youngster has special needs. Home schooling can resolve the problems of literacy and numeracy.. Private schooling is based on fee paying academic achievements and micromanagement. and public schooling is for those who can't afford private schools. Both are only good at Institutionalisation.

    FYI there are two more beautiful books in the tiny truths series. One is a book of Psalms and proverbs. The other is a devotional book for little ones. All three books are equally beautiful.
