The Big Sting (1 of 3) - Eve Online Capital PVE (lvl 5 mission)
The Big Sting (1 of 3)
This is one of the lengthiest missions that I run. It has an initial wait time of 8-10 minutes (from the first warp that triggers the mission until the mission spawn appears). It also requires the most ships to be destroyed. At least 3 frigates, 2+4 cruisers and 6 battleships. The mission spawn has frigates that scram and there are also 2 jamming cruisers.
The spawns will switch and shoot your fighters so MWD management is important to keep them alive (basically do not use MWD unless you need to recall your fighters).
Is one of the few missions where using an MTU will increase your ISK but requires and extra warp in/out (to get the MTU and drop it back in the carrier)
This is the only mission that requires a guaranteed decline since the next offered missions can’t be run in a carrier.
Average run time: 6′30″
Mission Reward: 10.5m ISK
Loyalty Points: 107.4k
(approx 400 ISK/LP)
Loot: 28m ISK
Steps:
- Warp in with any ship (not cloaked), warp out.
- Wait 8-10 minutes, warp your carrier in.
- Align out and drop MTU - bookmark the MTU.
- Target Special Forces cruises and send your fighters towards (no MWD) one of the 2 that look like a Falcon/Blackbird.
- KIll them both then kill the other 3-4 Special Forces cruisers (you can skip the last 1-2 if they are far away) - It is important to kill the cruisers because they are the first to switch towards fighters. If you leave 1-2 and kill a couple of battleships before them, they won’t have enough DPS to kill the fighters.
- Start killing the Special Forces BS starting from the closer one. Kill any Special Forces cruiser that you did not kill.
- Meanwhile when the frigates web/scram you, smartbomb them.
- Pay attention to the other ships on the grid - they will attack your fighters, pull them with MWD, wait for full agro on the carrier and drop the fighters again, continuing to kill as mentioned above.
- Warp away when you have killed all Special Forces. As an extra bonus, you can kill everything on the mission, they all drop tags (regular loot for blitzing the mission is like 27 millions, if you kill all ships in the mission can go up to 90 millions).
- Turn in the mission, go loot the MTU.
Disclaimer:
This is not a comprehensive guide on level 5 missioning. This is how I run them. I do them for Gallente, for the other factions missions and tactics can slightly differ.
Tips and tricks:
- Check system for known enemies. You can run most of the missions with red local. Some caution and cherry picking is needed tho!
- Use ‘v’ key as much as possible to check for combat probes.
- I usually warp in at 0, if in a slower capital, fleet yourself and warp at 10 to avoid bumping on the beacon. For some missions warping at distance is a better option (ie. The Fortress).
- Align back immediately after you land.
- Deal with tacklers ASAP - do not run the missions with tacklers if red in local.
- Do not MWD your fighters unless required. Available MWD is paramount to keep them alive in certain situations.
- If red drops on the grid, warp first, recall fighters after. Running missions in low sec usually means no bubbles and warp should be instantly. Fighters will follow (if not scrambled). Is better to lose 9 fighters than your ship. Decide later if the mission is worth running or just decline it.
- Try it on Eve Singularity (Sisi).
- Do not forget to accept the mission before undocking.

Nice video man. If only I learned how to fight... I wouldn't have stopped playing EvE :( Well, people like you make me still look for info and stories. BTW, nice song to put in the video, Lindsey rules ;)
1:10 good thing they turned off your mwd for you.
Possibly the reason I might get back into EVE.... Itching for some small group-play in Spaaaaaaace! Kek. Subbed.
one word overview you need to clean yours up have one for ships one for drones and one for warp outs you will do much better. Yours is too much of a cluster to hard to see and lock appropriate targets.
Hi Dan! XD
Haha :) yes.. I had an annotation about that but I forgot to apply it (meaning it was there but wasn't shown)... Now its there at around 4:20
Mehenn Eve My annotations are disabled by default.
Where do you usually find pvp with frigates? I want to start pvping
I usually start from Ostingele through Old Man Star and other Gal-Caldari FW areas... Plenty of targets and blobs...
Nice job on the last one!!!
loverly, really liked the 'why' in local. (its because he has a tiny peepee :)
Enjoyed the video, music made it. Good choice there. o7
You see, that Imperial March opening theme song immediately grants you a thumbs up. :D
Your taste in music is awesome!
...and if you have enough of low sec, let's go to 0.0 space for more fun: EVE Online solo PvP - Part 01
Would like to know the fits used so I can possibly use them in the future.
Larry Hale you can check my killboard and look up for my deaths or drop an game email
What is your ingame toon so I can drop a mailer to him/her?
Indeed, there is no charname visible ^^
crckdns Larry Hale it is Mehenn
would you mind sharing the music used in this video?
Added to video description. Forgot them initially :D
you pulse your reppers way to much, otherwise nice fights!
Nice video! Slingshot 101 was interesting. :) I need to learn it.
I would rather hear the actual game sounds and music. that or maybe some voiceover.
You say you don't have links but I noticed your scram range was too big at 2:56 you go outside 10km of the firetail and still scraming without overheating.
Yea. Maybe a client glitch... It happened to me before. For example warping while others said they pointing me. I think it something with the lag and the fact that the server didn't synced the response of the 2 clients or so... I have nothing against links or fleets. Its part of the game. But I didn't used them in those fights.
i prefer using cruisers to suide gank miners. you look at a 10 mil isk vs whatever miner u gank. dps is alot higher and the cost is still nothing.
Should have used catalyst
fail gank indeed... then again, you resorted to mining so... both fail? :\
Lol
Do you post your loadouts anywhere?
Very nice man. I always find it funny watching rvb forming up to fight anyone but themselves.
If my memory serves well: 3 light missile launchers, mwd, t2 disruptor, meta TD, small asb (ship bonus helps), 2 nano, dc t2, warriors t2, 2 rigors and a calefaction as rigs.
Can you go into details of this fit, also is it still viable??
I am not using links. Why in fleet? Maybe a leftover. Check the stats on the modules, the dps, the speed and you will see I have no links...
why do u have a fleet up if ur solo
Solo frigate pvp is awesome - thanks for sharing, and keep em coming!
4x light missile launchers - mwd tracking disruptor medium asb warp disruptor t2 - 2 x nanofiber internal structure t2 - small polycarbon engine housing small warhead calefaction catalyst small capacitor control circuit (yes, the extra power to keep point/mwd/td running in long fights, turn the td down if you run off capacitor) missiles: - faction mjolnir/nova - FOF mjolnir - t2 mjolnir/nova
Tell me your kestrel fit pls?
Frigate fights are awesome man you're trippin
+1, I roll solo through FW space. Fuck OGB
+1 for soloing man in FW space with NO FUCKING LINKS....alt toons that boost have officially changed this game for the worst all because CCP wants more cheeder. I as well ride alone with the occassional assists.
yay for new ships
frigate fights are boring! and is it just me.. or did u warp to 0 on that gate? :P yes yes.. u flew a vexor.. hope it didnt burn a hole in ur pocket ..lol :(
;) fixed
Description is wrong now though. :-P
Good to see you switch up ship types a bit. Keep up the good work.
Thank you :)
Ah no :) Its a quick proof for the ones accusing me of foul play :) So I quickly uploaded it at a lowest resolution. Next episode will have it render at HQ :) Sorry for that.
screencapped with a toaster?
Good stuff.
Elliot Berger - Lights Ft. Veela - I will add it in video desc from now on :)
And the song playing is?
Moleman - Rush
I know, I know. I was 100% he was ready... But maybe if I would just do some more dps before going in, overloaded the guns and reps and try to stay in range a bit more... Never know... I got him a bit of structure. Maybe I could have got it.
the incursus would catch you either way. he wouldn't stick around if you kitted him at 30 and when you came closer for the point he OHed his MWD to catch you so you basically couldn't really outrun him with a surprise like that.
wow you didnt show a bit of the conder man bravo i mean bravo
I use many fits... Minor changes on them. You can check the killboards and see my loses. And about DC, depending on the ship, I rather use nanos so I can escape the initial tackle. It is a trade of I decided to do. Mostly it pays off.
