As you could tell, I was absolutely clueless to the rail system 😅 or if I even needed it.

@@DirtyPandas it’s ok! After like a second playtrough you would realise that on a rail is actually not that long if you take the correct paths (which if you know then it gets extremely easy). At this point I pretty much always know where to go lol,but I can get where your coming from. I had to get my dad to help me realise you needed to shoot the arrows to change the direction on my first playtrough

I'm playing the original. I was surprised after playing it for the first time the other day it got an update.

I wouldn't say hate but I definitely bounce between "ooh I see why this was a great game back in the day" to "why the hell are these inputs so bad!" 😅 I'm really going to give it my best go and take in this the best I can.

I've never played Black mesa 😅. I've been told to switch to that over the original game.

@@DirtyPandas play the original first, bm changes alot of fundamental parts of levels.

@@DirtyPandas No. That is a poor choice. It makes more sense to experience the original and after you finish the Half Life 2 era you should try Black Mesa. Plus you get a better appreciation for Black Mesa if you played the original games first. Also it would be pretty awkward to change at this point since you just got through probably the worst chapter in On a Rail. Black Mesa is basically a fan remake of Half Life 1 that was endorsed by Valve and it uses an upgraded engine of what was used for the second game. It brings plenty of quality of life changes, visuals, level design changes, better continuity and world building, etc. 100% worth playing

I will definitely finish this one and move onto Half life 2. I know I'm just spoiled with modern games and this wasn't something I played back in the day so it holds zero nostalgia. However I'm dedicated to finishing the series and find the love the community has for this game.

@@DirtyPandas Oh you'll be impressed by the jump from this game to Half Life 2. Half Life 2 was way ahead of it's time. Side note you should play the expansions for Half Life 1. They are Opposing Force and Blue Shift. They give you a different perspective of the events that transpire in the Black Mesa incident. Some would consider Opposing Force to be a better game than base Half Life. I won't tell you if you should play them before or after 2 but it might be easier to do those first since the transition isn't jarring.

I figured out I didn't need the tram after a while and thought I screwed myself over at one point. I almost walked all the way back for it.

I can see why people loved it back in the day and I'm definitely late to the party. I do plan on playing to completion. Just ignore all my crying, I do appreciate the game. I'm just spoiled with modern games 😂

@@DirtyPandas it’s perfectly fine. Half-Life is like the Beatles of FPS games. Some people still love them, some don’t think they aged well, but neither can deny the fact that they revolutionized the genre.

I assure you I don't deny that... even if I said something negative about the game in my video 😅
