Sad that I never experienced this game sooner, I played through it a couple weeks ago for the first time
It’s definitely harder to get into when you are playing against people who’ve had practice for years. I suggest running an smg until you feel comfortable moving at speed, def takes some effort, but so worth it. (I suggest learning movement tek from the speed running community, particularly two runners named bryonato and zweek have made some really good videos about the movement tek I highly suggest checking out)

To be clear the craziest thing and what I want to know the most is how you do that grapple trick where you get a lot of momentum
My grapple is bound to my front mouse side button (m5) and my crouch is bound to both v and m4 so that I can crouch kick easier (fairly standard speed runner setup which you can learn more about here: th-cam.com/video/C_cXYyA4LaU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TTusHGbX8X67QuU_) as for how to get sped off grapple it just takes a bit of practice getting used to keeping tension in the grapple but mokeysniper made a great video about it here: th-cam.com/video/hB0Wa2fCVAk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6Izlui9EGJauIgxc

Thank you, the music style is called Eurobeat, it became really popular a while back when an anime called Initial D caught on and people made memes out of some of the most iconic tracks that still occasionally find their way into meme culture today

Love the music choice. You have about 500 kills on Cold War but you definitely know how to wield it. Really good grapples, some people don't utilize it to the fullest potential.

Wholesome compilation, even if I think grapple is a little busted and disincentivizes the movement that makes titanfall fun in the first place. I just wish it had more counterplay/one charge -- at least for CTF.
Thanks for the comment! I get this a lot and if you don’t mind, respectfully I disagree, as someone who used to use stim, when I switched to grapple I had to learn more tek to use it more effectively. Really, I feel like grapple is just a better choice for getting up to speed, mainly because you get two of them meaning you are waiting almost half as long to use your ability and can stay at speed more often. But even then I don’t think having two really disincentives learning movement as it still takes long enough to recharge that you at least need to learn to slidehop or surf in order to keep a portion of your speed, and it really can’t be truly abused without already knowing or learning how to doing fairly high skill movement tek such as nsk’s and crouch kicks and just abusing the movement system in general already. That said I do think you could make a compelling argument that stim is better because it provides the same “limiting yourself” type advantage that using the mastiff, kraber, etc. weapons instead of the objectively better smg, but also I’m not sure if it has as much of the dopamine release that is associated with killing someone with something shit, so idk, either way thanks for watching and the comment ❤
@@cooppatness The way I see it is, the maps were more or less designed a certain way because existing in Titanfall is always a risk -- any time you're visible, you can be shot. Hence, traversing the map via wallruns, slidehops, on whatever route you take, is inherently a risk that's balanced (or at least in flux/counterplay) with things like aim, gamesense, teams, etc. Every route you take is in some way telegraphed and/or vulnerable when you wallrun/stim. You're exposing yourself. The main problem I have with grapple is that you can launch over most of the map with zero (or very very close to zero) interaction or risk, on top of by doing so ALSO ignoring the wallrunning that the premise of movement/map control the game is designed around. Like, if you die and respawn, with wallrunning or stim it takes a long enough time that it generally plays well with things like the game's TTK, ease of aim/gun spread without ADS, etc. If you kill someone and nobody on their team is using grapple, you can ensure that you can get x amount of time/kills before they return. With grapple, however, that time is almost instant. You die, respawn, and in about 5 seconds you're back to where your opponent who killed you was. If they're not using grapple, they're inherently at more risk because they can only travel so much of the map before you're back at their general location/zone of influence. On top of that, grapple has height advantage, almost no sound cues, short cooldown, micro grapple, it can break hit detection -- and even without the latter, the sheer speed one can go even with basic grapple knowledge is hard to deal with, and why it's banned in competitive CTF. Think about Relic, for example. As a normal player, you need to travel through the tunnels and/or mid to get from your spawn back to where the enemies are, therefore giving them a chance to see you coming. However, you can fly over the huge ship that covers the middle area with grapple and come flying in with maybe 1 or 2 seconds of visual warning max IF the person happens to be staring up at the shit. Because again, almost no audio cue with grapple past the initial grapple point, and even then, I have several thousand hours in this game and not only have trouble pinpointing where grapple POINTS are, but you also have to react to the swing because there's a large number of possible angles somebody can come in from. I don't want to sound like you're not allowed to have fun, though! Grapple is there. The game isn't going to get patched. There's nothing more I can do. I just like to make it clear to people that just because it has stuff you need to learn, doesn't mean it isn't really good, and it doesn't mean stim/wallrunning don't ALSO require a ton/even more knowledge, and also doesn't lessen grapple's massive advantages. I do this partially because I'm fairly passionate about the game, partially because I like game design/balance philosophy, and partly because (while I know this isn't necessarily you) I do get irritated at the community's perception of it. Like, the community will all agree CAR/R9/Alternator are stupid good, but they won't admit Kraber/Grapple also are simply because there's an illusion of "extra work" and therefore it doesn't matter if it's broken or not for some reason. btw, I'm glad to be discussing this in a way that isn't REEE STIM PLAYERS ARE SO BROKEN GRAPPLE IS SO BAD AND HOW COULD YOU EVER THINK IT'S GOOD YOU DUMB PEEPEE POOPOOHEAD which I get a lot tbh So I appreciate that :> If you have more opinions to share I'm open to them because I'm not exactly comp level and don't put in the work to be, so there could be a ton I don't consider/am wrong on.

@@EingefrorenesEisen agreed, I appreciate having a civil discussion rather than a lot of the grapple is so easy learn to play the game comments I get a lot of the time (because clearly, I’ve also put in over 1,00 hours into learning movement tech). I appreciate the response, and I agree with a lot of it (though I’d say that’s what makes grapple good) but I’d also say that when it comes to the verticality aspect I think a lot of other players don’t realise that without grapple you can still go over the map (maybe not on something like relic) but on glitch I have had stim and even cloak or phase pilots wallrun up to the top of the map, yes you have to work harder to do so, but I effectively see it as trading the ease of access for the ability to use a different tactical. Also I’d say that even when you are working extra hard to exploit the movement system, wether using grapple or stim, I have had g20’s and higher running a-wall and spitfire who can easily pick up on my routes really quickly, and basically just sit there and wait for me to run into them at 60mph, and more or less just deny me the ability to play that way My position really ends up being that I think of all the things to get mad at, someone who has invested a lot of time in the learning game shouldn’t end up being the target, and that there are ultimately a lot more unbalanced things that can be exploited without the time sink required in order to get good at the game
