I have a question abt unconditional love. My husband of 13 yrs is destroying our lives. Last time he disappeared on a drug binge for 5 days I told him I'd leave next time he did it. Well, last week after being gone for a few days, I find out ( from searching around and calling the cops ) that he was in jail. On a drug charge. When he was released the following day, he was still high, and the first thing out of his mouth, after being gone for almost a week again and just being released from jail, was "GIVE ME MY CAR". Our car had been stolen while he was out on this latest binge, and he was accusing me of joining up with the dealer that stole the car and being in on the scam to try to get money out of him ( or something along those lines, he wasn't exactly clear in his line of thinking ) I guess. We live at my mom's house. Until the end of this month anyway, when she's having him evicted bc she can't take his crap anymore. We have nowhere to go. And now no car to even live in. He doesn't have a job. I'm the only person in the world that he has. I love him, sober him anyway, but sober him hasn't been around for many years ( bc even when he's not doing drugs, he's an alcoholic. The sounds of those cans being cracked open all day long drive me crazy ). I made my decision to be with him. So now am I stuck with it? We haven't even been "together intimately" in 11 years bc he is no longer capable of intimacy bc of all the drugs in his system. I feel like a mother to him. He's not my partner. He always says to me, "Why can't you just love me?" I try. I try so hard to just love him. But love won't keep us off the streets. Love won't keep us safe. Trying to love him is causing such a deep depression I don't know what to do any more. I feel numb yet also heavy, and like I'm at the point just before an explosion... Does unconditional love have to mean unconditional acceptance? I feel so guilty walking away....

So you've got yourselves a whole bunch of in-house retireds on your hands. Congratulations.
