Sheila Maloney (keyboards, vocals)
Mick Paul (bass guitar, vocals)
Jack Summerfield (drums)
SHOW NOTES:
What a fun time for King Crimson fans; such a treat to see David Cross, former violinist of the band. The David Cross Band is a powerful unit celebrating King Crimson's music of the 1970s with heavy emphasis on the 50-year celebration of the Larks' Tongues in Aspic album. That album got a full playthrough and the band did a great job, only taking major creative liberties on the song Exiles, fleshing it out far beyond its original arrangement. With a few Crimson extras and two band original tracks, this 2-hour set was fully packed with crisp, strong progressive rock. John Mitchell and Mick Paul do a great job sharing lead vocal duties for a King Crimson era that had John Wetton as its lead vocalist. I find John's bass playing and singing to be hard to emulate, and this band did it well; I'd argue better than Tony Levin and Jakko Jakszyk did in King Crimson from 2014-2021 (Love that band, but there was some 'oomph' missing from Wetton's parts during those years). King Crimson's music is more or less my favorite of all time, and this show in celebration of their 70s output was so much fun to hear, and played at such a high level. Hearing the music (finally!) with violin in the mix felt so authentic. They don't typically tour the USA, so this was a can't-miss show for me. I think the difference with King Crimson tribute bands compared to others, is that there's a commitment to high-level playing and serving the music with integrity. Playing the KC music of the 70s is so much more than just putting on a costume and playing some covers, and this band did it in a meaningful way. Go see the David Cross Band!
SOUND AND TAPING COMMENTS FROM NKLOTTERY:
Technical notes: Seated in the balcony overlooking the band stage left, I had a nice sounding speaker firing right at my table at this venue, so I placed the recorder on the table nestled in a shirt, pointed at the speaker, with the microphones in the X-Y (narrow image) position. It was helpful that venue staff did not care about recording, so there are few disturbances in this capture. I was seated with another couple and some of their conversations might be a bit audible here and there. Regrettably I forgot to hit record until partway through the first song, so Tok is incomplete. It was a pretty ideal venue for taping, and nice to not have to take such a stealthy approach for a change.

i was there! it was such an awesome show and you could literally feel the whole room shaking. glad i brought earplugs
"Industry" in this version is OUTSTANDING!!!
I really agree. Adrian jokes about how all the stuff people want to hear is in set 2, but the set 1 Industry and Dig Me were highlights of the show. These guys are great at making weird music!
Why are these bands so scared to come to Detroit???
I can only assume they are playing the hanging man because of larry mullins being in the band for the tour, but this version is amazinggg
"Lossless audio available" Thank you!
thank you for the upload i wished i could have been there
Great job recording. This is the best sounding recording I’ve heard so far involving BEAT. Going to see them in LA soon.
@@davarph thank you! Enjoy that LA show
I saw the show in Clearwater Florida, it was fantastic. I would recommend do not miss it if you can possibly help it.
Any more footage of this?
It was professionally recorded, one song was released on Geordie Greep's official TH-cam channel th-cam.com/video/gNGlbB4Gbyo/w-d-xo.html
Was going to go to this show but couldn’t afford it. Luckily they’re coming back around and the tickets were cheaper so I’m going to that!!
@@zenzenzen4741 going to the Lynn show? It sure is tempting...
@@nkLottery yeah
Such a great show. Thanks for capturing it - memory isn’t what it used to be……
THanks for this!! Was in the audience wondering if someone recorded :)
Many thanks!
Absolutely love TSA Man on Rehab Reunion. Version here sounds very Celtic, quite mournful & less obviously tongue-in-cheek. V moving and beautiful.
Hope Crimson fans and music lovers listen to this show for years to come. Impossible to describe how creative and exciting this music felt-it seemed legendary and historical.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your uploads! Absolute Zero is so beautiful here, now I really need to read Zero K book.
Been listening to these lads craft this album at the windmill brixton for a year or so now, fan fucking tastic to see it click for everyone

lmk if your video got flagged for the intro, because ours did, thank you anyway💜
Likewise, thank you for your recording. Looks like the video is blocked in Russia and Belarus only due to the intro but that has no effect on the channel
Thank you! Do you know if the lossless audio is available? I for one would appreciate it lots x

It was such a good show, great crowd!
yessss thanks! I was wondering what that latin jazz cover in the middle was. What a band!
🔥🔥
Thank you for this! Love the addition of a jam to open the show, hopefully it becomes a staple for future gigs
Thanks for uploading. You're holy
I was there! Thank you so much for posting this!
It's such a shame how many great acts make this venue their Boston tour stop. One of the worst PAs and venue layouts maybe ever. Wild that it has lasted so long.
hmm, good to know...
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
i was there!
35:11 Plastic Palace People by Scott Walker <3
My favorite part is definitely after Michael sings "now deliquescing in the wind" and the drummer starts out slow but then just goes crazy while the whole band is building up into chaos
Awesome!
0:35 Space is the place
That show was awesome. It was my fourth time seeing them and it might have been the best one yet.
It was incredible. After the 2016/17 tours i didn't think it could any more transcendental but they somehow managed to reach even higher heights.
These new songs are so sad. Like he's saying goodbye
He's saying goodbye to many but he's not going anywhere. You'll find out.
The beggar was for sure a loving farewell, it's heartbreaking at moments
@@fffffffffff8402 New album is gonna drop soon though, so, not really a farewell
Good Stuff!...saw them at the same place 33 years ago...White Light/Love of Life tour.
Just saw Glass Beams on 6/5 at this venue , nice place but if you go make sure your tickets are ready to go if you pre - purchased them and get there early and find a spot on the upper level overlooking the crowd and stage .
audio's super desynced for the latter part of the video
Definitely believe you - I've encountered that on some devices but most of the time it's in sync throughout when I play back the latter 1/3 of the video. May be worth trying a different device? It's just such a giant video
@@nkLottery On different device same deal. By the end of the last song the audio is ~ 5 secs behind the video.
1:01:57 such a cool way to organize sound... Gira conducting-method!
The groove they lock into at 1:39:00 was INSANE live. The camera mic obviously does not do justice to to how loud it was, but after the beat down most of that track gives, that section feels like an epiphany. Also Michael slapping himself and laughing was one of the most terrifying moments of my life 😂❤
Porn in my ear I saw them in Amsterdam finally I got this with Rosetta stoned and I was stoned man
TOOL
This show was astonishing. Thanks
"We have 4 songs for you tonight... that'll be 134 minutes."

@@woah3157 The beggar already out... but i hope this rendition makes it into a live album
@@twl148 Michael said it’s gonna be a whole new song on the next album with the lyrics changed
@@woah3157dude that’s fucking awesome. I was at this show and that ending section (which I recall is missing/very different on the beggar album) was electrifying
