Rear End Awareness Practice
This follows my previously-posted video on teaching your dog how to target their front paws on the touch pad.
There will be at least two additional videos on the progression of this rear-awareness training for board and train Lily ❤️
Make sure to start the session off by rewarding them simply for stepping on and off the touch pad a few times.
Next, really read your dog and look for their attempts, and also watch your lure hand placement carefully.
It’s very easy to become frustrated with our dogs because they keep stepping off. If this is the case; look how far or close you are luring them. And also pay attention to how frequently you’re rewarding them.
If they keep trying but getting nothing, they will likely stop making attempts.
Reduce your expectations and reward them for trying.

Issues With Constantly Avoiding Discomfort
มุมมอง 6314 วันที่ผ่านมา
This is not an issue that only affects each individual, it also affects those around us, human and dog alike. And it grows to the scale of society as a whole. As much as we do not like feeling uncomfortable or being in pain, it is a part of life and it should be examined. We should learn how to walk through it and teach how to walk through it Running away, ignoring, or suppressing it will not w...
Teaching Front Paws on Touch Pad-Intro to Rear End Awareness
มุมมอง 332หลายเดือนก่อน
Keep these sessions short, have a high frequency of rewards for any attempts, and gradually increase expectations. Don’t expect them to be able to put two paws on the elevated platform in their first session. Many can, many need more sessions. That’s OK, they will get it if YOU are consistent and having fun! #dogtrainer #dogtraining #dogtrainingadvice #sandiego #dog #dogmom #tutorial #alignedk9
Teaching Center
มุมมอง 3302 หลายเดือนก่อน
This can be done by having your dog walk around one leg or the other, or by walking directly through, turning around then back into center to face forward. I’ve been finding this way tends to be the least complicated in the long run. As with all behaviors, this takes a bunch of reps and gradual fading of the lure (if you want) before it becomes very clear. . . . . #dogtrainer #dogtrainingadvice...
Flipping Around to from Right to Left and Back Again
มุมมอง 1.5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Just because positions are the same, does not mean the movement from one position into another is the same. I have taught him to flip around in front of me when I give him his heel or right command. So if I want him to flip around behind me, I need to give him new commands for those movements…and of course teach them. . . . . #dogtrainer #sandiego #sandiegodogtrainer #workingdog #focus #reps #d...
Big Issues Building Engagement With Your Dog-How to Fix Them
มุมมอง 4502 หลายเดือนก่อน
In short: your dog doesn’t focus on you or engage with you because you are boring and/or, simply don’t understand them. These issues are very common, but the good news is, there is a LOT you can do to solve them. Simple things like adding movement to your rewards, adding some annoying noises, varying your reinforcers, and understanding what makes your specific dog tick-all these things will hel...
Crawl Backwards Intro

You get to watch me mess a few things up, but overall, Tyson does pretty well! I’d done 1-2 other sessions with him “scootching” backwards, but haven’t worked on it in a while, so I mostly did it from scratch. The one thing I didn’t have to do here was use my other hand to provide tactile communication over his hips to help show he should keep them down. He is smart and I was able to fade that ...
Teaching positions (competition intro basics)
มุมมอง 4562 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is how a lot of people with sport dogs will teach positions. With the exception of: a lot of them will focus on keeping the front paws stationary, and only having the dog move their back end/paws. Front maintain contact. I was not aware of the front paw thing when I taught him. Not super necessary, but I would have taught him different if I did it again. Yes, I could re-teach, but at the m...

I hear what your say. This isn’t just about our animals Being whole, healthy -emotional and physically. If we the owner, and trainer, and partner they depend on for their life. If we’re not emotional stable and grounded, and have clear boundaries how could we expect our actions to teach anything. . We must fix ourself, then we can help fix others. I would love to hear your video on stress and how it affects the dogs and us their owners. I really enjoy these videos. I know with my emotional Dobermans, they don’t take stress well keep up the good work

hello...can u give me a feedback...I rescued a dog Belgian M abandoned in a field..no chip and was xt thin...took her home however she was xtr scare, anxious and was not able to even drink water for a second. Body language showed me that she was abused, pain on the back, tail between legs...took me 6 months to assure her that she is safe...now is more relax, still some instances she is very afraid and thinks she is going to be hit. She now responds to me when i call her, some behavior are much better with training however there is one that i can not seem to help her ...She was starving when i found her so now when i am going to serve food for my other 5 dogs she goes crazy...i tried to send her to the other room with my other dogs that are waiting for the food but she is so anxious and crazy that she can not stay still, goes around in circles, hits anything around her and things end up on the floor (she think she is in big trouble and get xtr scare)...in her crazy behavior she steal food from the other dogs and it is chaotic just to keep the routine of food herarchy...she is the last one to eat so i try the push back with my knee and that works for 4 seconds and then she try to get to the food right away, place her at the last position and do not allow her to move for few more seconds, she is so desperate for the food that is painful to watch her waiting...she keep eye contact with me the whole time until i give to command to release and eat...then she eats all super fast and goes around trying to take the food from the other dogs... how can i calm her down so she can stay calm while i am serving /preparing the food for all the dogs, how do i calm her down so she can enjoy her food and the anxiety goes away. I understand that the dog was starved for a long time and that is why she is so incline to eat fast..by the way now she is not afraid to eat with me around her. This poor animal was abused big time so what can i do to help her out. As a Belgian M she is very intelligent, loving, and happy (now) but only have that issue that run crazy the whole process of food enjoyment. Thank you.

Honestly, I like your training videos. The methods you use are interesting. You talk about interesting topics. I would suggest leaving the philosophy of life to other channels. I understand the message but will it change anything? This country has imported a philosophy of utopian freedom and lack of responsibility for ourselves in recent decades. This is the result of excessive consumerism that has been promoted since practically the beginning of the United States.

Thanks for teaching us how to train a dog. I have two beautiful Dobermans and I follow along to teach them how to do some of this kind of work. My female loves to work and learns by watching my male do it first, then she comes in like “I already know what to do mom”😂! My male just gets it, and he wants to please me. It’s me getting the message out clearly and consistently that’s hard.

To my understanding this is usually practiced in competitive dog training like the French ring. I don't think it's practical to walk your dog like this in everyday living, but it is a great obedience training routine that comes in handy for those tight situations out in public.
