Using a frame of eggs to make a new Queen right colony! Pt2
We look at the next steps and the result of the Queen cells produced! Saving a colony with a frame of eggs thus letting the bees take control and make a new queen for their colony. In this video we continue on from the last video both showing the next steps we take and the end result after the long wait! This process using a frame of eggs can be done again if in the right time and season. Weather permitting you can go into the hive earlier than the 8-9 days to check for cells as I specified as the weather was a bit iffy for a few days here. But nice capped Queen cells are lovely to see when needed.
I show that I went back through the hive after the new Queen cells were capped, just to double check the frames and cells as the last Queen went unexpectedly and was quite suspicious, as seen in Pt1 video (see below)

Bees making a mess of waxed plastic foundation? How I fix it without adding more!

This video shows what I do to encourage the bees to draw plastic wax coated foundation frames. When the bees start to build bad burr and wild comb on them when in the hive. Plastic foundation can sometimes be a nightmare, most of the time it just needs more wax but when you pay out for premium coated frames It's a little annoying when the bees don't take to them very well. "That's beekeeping!" ...

When a hive is being a little suspicious and the Queen stops laying panic sets in! Read the frames and it should tell a story but bees will be bees and nothing is too certain. With the Queen not laying and the weather being "well British" bees can be under some strain and the Queen can in some cases stop laying. But the hive/frame signs changed after a few days as you will see in this video. Fr...

Sometimes the bees need a little push “we all get like it sometimes” :) here is a method to encourage the bees to use the frames around them and for the Queen to lay more and fill the brood box. Weather permitting and making sure there is food stores and with warmer temperatures so you don’t chill the brood when you change around the brood frames. I usually wait for more bees to be present in t...

First quick hive inspection of the season! What to look for in a healthy beehive that has overwintered. At last the weather has started to warm up so we can have a look in the hives, long have we waited for this day! Hah. Spring honey flow and supering the hive giving room to the colonies is important, so there is enough space for the bees to continue building. By monitoring the hives giving more space will also deter swarming at this early stage in spring. But make sure the bees have food stores in the brood box by hefting/lifting the hive for a good idea of weight "if you can't do inspections depending on weat...
