Did we OVERLOAD this 2022 All Weather Model Mahindra Roxor????
We needed some bags of concrete but didn’t feel like taking the truck. So we took the Roxor and hauled 960 lbs in it. The Rear Payload Capacity is only 349 lbs.
We measured the ground to fender distance both loaded and unloaded.

This was our solution for not having running water. We used to use rain barrels until we had a couple years of droughts and no rain means no water for our garden. Although this does take time and effort to prepare to get the tote full, in the end having this easy watering system for our gardens has been a game changer. We charge our battery with a battery tender on trickle charge, but for the m...
Fastest way to Clean a Flow Frame
มุมมอง 3744 หลายเดือนก่อน
After a couple of years of using flow frames they need to be cleaned to get the cappings off, since you don’t remove the cappings the same way you would with a traditional hive. This method has worked great for me and I am able to use the cooled beeswax and clean it by using my solar melter. #beekeeping #flowhive #beeswax #homesteading #solar

I don't have money for something like that, so I wanna try to make one using stones, a hammer and chisel.
I totally understand. I got it as a Christmas gift so I was lucky that way.
Anything about mahindra and Royal Enfield u got my subscrition.🎉
We will try to continue to do videos on the roxor
Just leave enough honey for them and you won't have to give them sugar water. Sugar water is as healthy for bees as it is humans. Zero nutrition.
I didn't take any honey from this hive as it was a first year hive. Some of the hives this year need the sugar syrup to build more stores for winter. In the region I'm in I also have to feed them sugar bricks during the winter. I always leave 2 full boxes of honey. This is the method that most of the successful bee keepers in my area do.

I wonder if giving them a vinegar and water bath afterwards would help as well? Mine sat for a couple of weeks away from my bee yard, so the bees could clean them off. I’m noticing a little bit of mold or duskiness visible on the edge of some of them. The boiling water may take care of that, but I wonder if vinegar and water would be necessary too?
That's a good idea. I might try that with the ones I clean this fall. I pulled the flow frames but haven't had time to harvest yet.
Great video with flow frame tips
Thank you!
Recipe please! My dad and husband have bad psoriasis/excema.
Unfortunately I do not share my recipes. I currently sell my soap and I formulate all my own recipes for my business and that takes a lot of time, sampling, testing etc to perfect them. But you should be able to look online for recipes you can use or change for your needs.
What if u dont have a pond to tranfer water from? Then what?
Unfortunately you would need to come up with something else......OR you could put in a sand point and you could use a pitcher pump to pump your water. But that is a lot more work! Trust me we tried that.
That sounds really good. I wish you would have shown it when it was done. Im looking for recipes for my works chili cook-off. I might make this.
That would have been a great idea to show you the finished product. Every person we have made this for loved it. I have also shared the recipe with people and when they made it they loved it. Anyone who likes Pizza loves this recipe. Give it a try for your Cook-off. I would love to know the results!

For anyone watching this I bought a sous vide and a big container which has been quite effective at heating the water to 90 degrees max. Also using the shower at its hottest with high pressure works too to get harder wax off. I have inherited a 10 year old flow hive and it’s been quite tricky getting it to a clean state.
I personally would NOT use my shower, especially for anyone with a septic. I would worry about the wax clogging the pipes. I use the big kettle so that I can save the wax and repurpose it.
@@tinashideaway i get that. This was just for removing small parts of wax stuck on say the outer plastic window that needed some pressure not for flowing out chunks of wax
what temperature was the water?
I didn't measure the temp of the water. I just keep heating the water, and test it by putting a flow frame in. Once I see the wax melting I know it's hot enough.
@@tinashideawayno worries thanks for the reply!
Beeswax has a melting point of 144 to 147 degrees so I'm guessing the temperature would need to be close to that.
I will have to try your recipe because it sounds so good. Sometimes one of the stores in my town will put pork butts on sale for 99 cents per pound. That is when I make breakfast sausage so I will also use the ground butts to try your italian style. Thanks.
Exactly what we watch for. Those awesome sales..... definitely the time to buy!

Do you trap bees 🐝 that are local or do you exclusively purchase Nucs? My wife and I are worried about them dying during winter because they are not adjusted to the climate .
I have purchased mine from the local bee store. We just built swarm traps last year so I'm hoping this year we can get some swarms. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Thank you for the information!

Oh yeah, garden fresh herbs.
They are the best. Much better flavor than the stuff you buy in the store.
I like your quilt boxes, I am in SW Washington state and deal with a lot of moisture and that's before the rain.🤣Have a great week.👍
Yikes that is a totally different environment. How do your bees do with it?
@@tinashideaway Well not the best but not the worst either, this is my 2nd Winter. 1st Winter I lost all 8 the First week of February mostly due to wet and cold. This year I build a roof over their bee benches to shelter them from the rain and learnt about upper venting, that fixed most all of that issue. They are doing better this year but this last summer I had a lot of queen issues. Some of that appears to have carried over into Winter. I lost 2 to requeen attempts in Nov, and another 4 or 6 to just being to small. I should have combined more in the Fall I think. But I have been able to recover all the drawn comb and most of the left over food stuffs. I should be set up well for this season and with each year I learn more of the bloom and bee cycle. Atm it looks like I have 3 strong and another 2 that are okish. 2 or 3 that my not make it the rest of the way tell bee season. But that is the way of things, sometimes. As long as some make it to bee season it's a lot better then the 1st Winter.😁Hoping year 3 is the Charm.
@@dcsblessedbees WOW you have had struggles. I have found I learn so much each year! And each year teaches me something new! Best of luck to you!
Tina that bee suit is entirely to clean, it's time for you to start getting it dirty.😁Even that 1st once didn't look bad just smaller, maybe that pollen patty will give them the bump they need to get rolling this Spring. Thanks for sharing your time with us, Blessed Days...
You’re absolutely right! I bought it towards the end of the year since my bees got more aggressive and I was getting stung too much! I also have a bee jacket with veil and I let my husband wear that while he was doing the camera work. That is more dirty. Love the comment. Thanks for the laugh!

A great value is the kitchenAid 8qt mixer!! Its NSF APPROVED for commercial use and has a DC motor unlike any of the other kitchenAid mixers. So u can grind the meat & Mix the meat also!!! 8qts is about 10# and its got the power with that DC motor!! I use a #22 plate. It works real well.
We do have a KitchenAid mixer. I love it but found it got too warm when grinding large amounts of meat. We bought LEM grinder and it works great for large amounts and I also use it for vegetables when canning
Mine is better! You must have just started a couple years .grind your own meat you’ll save a lot more money get the meat on sale and save more make sure you have a freezer. Research all your spices your close but over doing it wrong spices.
What is your suggestion on what I should change? I'm always open to improving recipes! We do buy our meat on sale and grind our own. That was our main reason for wanting to come up with a recipe for the Italian seasoning. We have an upright freezer and 2 chest freezers we use.
Your hive set up is equivalent to house that has thick walls but the roof has holes in it or your upper window is open and lets all warm air out. I bring this up because I think you lost hives last year and these populations look very small as well. Instead being comfortable, your bees work themselves to death to keep the cluster warm. Im really interested if they'll make it.
Can you provide details on the set up you have? Yes I lost my bees last year, but that was due to mites. I didn’t do my fall treatments like I should have. I have used this exact set up with 100% success during winters much colder than this, I was even able to split the hives in spring because they were doing so well. I’m not convinced it’s my set up that is the problem this year……but I could be wrong too. I honestly feel like the overly warm temperatures we have been having all winter so far is the problem. The bees are flying way more than they should be and they are doing this almost every day. The temps have been in the mid 40’s more days than not. My set up is the following: above the 2 boxes, I have the sugar board, then the pillow board packed full of cedar shavings, then an inner cover, and the top cover.
I have the same set up as you except I use double reflective insulation under top cover to seal off everything so no air gets out on top and no feeding board.(you can do this in many ways). I don't wrap hives but I do tape where boxes meet so no heat gets out. This guy explains it th-cam.com/video/1JZKyZWSTGk/w-d-xo.html@@tinashideaway
Those pollen patties can't be good for them.. probably why your seeing them eat more they will have brood warmer temps and feeding sub . Hard on the gut if they can't fly .. love your channel I'll bee watching
Good morning. Those are winter patties which I don't believe is the same as pollen patties. But I will make sure to double check with the place I buy them from. They are very experienced bee keepers and they recommend these along with the sugar bricks for the winter.
I think you should do more research on ventilation vs insulation on top. Those really small clusters will need every ounce of heat to survive. Since warm air rises, all the heat cluster makes, escapes through the top. You also have a lot of open space above cluster where the sugar brick is so even more heat escapes.
Thanks for the feedback, but I have done my research. The set up I have is what is recommended by other bee keepers in my area based on the weather we have. The ventilation is an absolute must with the weather we have. The open space you mention was not there at the beginning of winter. The sugar bricks were full so there was not too much open space until the bees started using the sugar as an extra emergency food supply. Only 1 hive has an extremely small cluster at this time….the other hives have lots of bees below the sugar brick. The 1 hive started as a very large/full hive. Unfortunately with the very warm weather we are having this year the bees are extra active and flying around almost daily and therefore dying much sooner than they should be.
Yep every year is different, still new myself and have come to the same conclusion. Thanks for sharing your time, Blessed Days...
Agreed. But at the same time it makes this hobby interesting. Nothing is ever the same year to year!
Subbed. This is COOL. I live in Colorado and hope to get into keeping bees soon.
Bee keeping is cool. It's also lots of work but worth it! If I can suggest anything it would be to do lots of research. Books and watch lots of TH-cam videos. There is so much good info out there that you can learn from! Good luck when you do get your bees!
@tinashideaway Thank you! I have been doing all of this already, but still it's fantastic advice. I am hoping to run them off of the Peach Trees in Palisade, Colorado.
Im not a fan of the bubble wrap texture 😅

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
It does not look like mites. It's more like your bees died because of the weather. Too cold and they died. OR moisture.
I did a mite count on the dead bees.....it was definitely mites. The count was high. We didn't have a very cold winter, and I prepare the hives to prevent moisture problems.
Will this plow work while tracks are on unit? Looks like mounts would be in the way but cant tell 100%
You would need to talk to the dealer you buy the plow from. They should know if it would work.
Nice job!
Thank you!
Another video promoting a knock off flow hive and misrepresenting her bees. You have mutts. Not Italian or carniolan.
I'm not promoting the knock off verses the original flow hive. I've never owned the original flow hive so I can't make a comparison. This is just what I choose to use. I did buy my bees from a VERY reputable bee supplier! I'm sorry you feel like I'm misrepresenting my bees. All this is meant to be is a comparison between the 2 breeds that have an identical set up and location.
Is that a real flow hive are did you just buy the frames, I seen some on Amazon and was wondering if they work.
They are the knockoff version, they are called autoframes. We then cut some boxes so we could get to the keyway and drain hole. I haven't had any problems with them. The first 2 I bought were the whole hive kit, after that I just bought the frames themselves.
Is that a normal yield in your area? I would expect 250-280 lbs from each of my carnica colonies so I would be very disappointed if I got less than 100lbs/colony. I'm also suprised to hear you say your carnica were more aggressive than the Italians. They are usually very calm and easy to handle. In fact, I would re-queen anything that produced yellow workers as I find them very aggressive. Did you buy your queen as part of your package or did you get her from a carnica breeder? I suspect she may actually be a cross (if you see any yellow abdomens, that would confirm it).
This is actually my best yield so far. We are in Northern Wisconsin so our season is much shorter. I didn't get a chance to pull the frames until a week later and there is some weight to them so I think I will get some more honey from those. All my hives this year were new packages in spring and due to a snowstorm in April (18") the bees arrived late this year. I agree with you, they shouldn't be so aggressive....part of that may have been my fault. I keep my bees at our property that we only can go to on the weekends. So I don't always have a choice of when I can work with the bees. One time it was the day/night after rain, the other time it was 99 degrees and hot out. (Not normal for this area) If they continue to be aggressive in spring I plan on requeening.
@tinashideaway I would not be so tolerant. It is precisely because I can't always inspect my colonies when the weather is perfect that I don't tolerate aggression. It would limit when I could get any work done and allow drones from aggressive queens to mate with any virgin queens in the area. This would be a much bigger (and longer term) problem than confronting the problem early. I suspect (from what you said) that the colonies may not be pure carnica (or not mated in isolation from other bees) as carnica are usually very easy to handle.
That is possible. They were very aggressive again today. But to be honest I'm not sure if there is much that I can do this year anymore???
@@tinashideaway A good breeder will usualy take orders a year in advance so it may be too late to requeen this year. You may be lucky but I prefer to identify any colonies that I don't want to take into winter and get them re-queened asap (ideally before July/August as there is little opportunity to correct problems after this). The "old queens" workers can live out their lives supporting the "new queen" (from selected stock) and helping her set up her winter nest. They will be long gone by Spring so any workers you see will be daughters of your new queen and any behavioural problems should be fixed.
subbed. nice.
Thank you
