I was given one of these. It's a piece of crap. Sonically it's the lowest consumer grade there is. The USB is noisy. The tonearm feels cheap. The counterweight is functional. But the most annoying part is that it plays fast and there's no calibration or adjustment. It plays exactly .40 cents fast (In musical terms this is just under half a cent fast or sharp; Like on a piano it would be the difference between C and the middle of C#). That doesn't sound drastic. But I assure you it is enough to start sounding a bit like a munchkin from Oz.

I just got something very much like this - the Zennox D6618/TT818 - although mine wasn't gratis, rather £40 from a British Heart Foundation household and electricals shop. I've just caught a video over at the 'Fred in the Shed' channel saying how crap Crosley, Steepletone and Zennox appliances are, but mine seemed to do everything it was supposed to do quite well and was immediately pressed into service for the latest video at my channel, as I write this on 26th April 2024. For one of the channels I use a 9"/23cm-diameter Celestion speaker I've had since childhood that I have recently dated to about the very beginning of the 1950s. It was quite a working-out to see how that very strange tape deck functioned! I don't think I've ever played a cassette in that way in my life! Probably it indicates a bit of a difference in musical tastes that my first trying-out of the CD player was with The Fascinations' 'Girls Are Out To Get You' and Donnie Burdock's 'Open The Door To Your Heart' off 'Northern Soul Memories'.

Often, the headphone jack, and lead to the headphones act as an aerial - so it might explain why you found it difficult to tune into an FM station. Line in? If it had a stereo line in, that would make it extremely versatile to be able to record from various sources - I think you mean a line out for example for headphones for the signal out?
