Great episode! You really could make an entire podcast on this topic alone. There’s soooo many. You guys didn’t bring up “Shameless” probably because it was such an obvious choice - but I could only get through one season of that show. Credit to the acting because it was so believable that they were so awful. 😂 William H Macy is one of the greats and he plays an alcoholic and makes you hate him in this. Superb but also…tough watch.
thanks for listening! this is Joe and I actually knew people like the Dad in Shameless. I couldn't watch it.
Josh Hartnett played the part of the dad and the maniacal killer roles superbly! But… the movie is extremely slow paced for the first hour, with no character development except for Harnett’s. It’s completely predictable, and just cringey all around. And if you’re not aware of who played the role of Lady Raven, it was M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter. I was looking at the credits when I noticed it. The movie is labeled as a horror film, but it is leaning more towards being a thriller than horror. Zero jump scares, it goes back and forth between the two main characters repeatedly to the point where it gets annoying because you want to see the action or a scare, but it never gets to that point. The trailer was ten times better than the movie itself. There’s a part of the movie that I can’t say enough about that I thought was so ridiculously cheesy, because I don’t want to give away the spoilers to those people who haven’t watched it yet. But it’s 🤣🙄 Let me just say that I watched MaXXXine the day after and I enjoyed that movie much more. Especially one particular scene at the ending.
Great episode! I would also add the car in "Deathproof" to the vehicles mentioned. I love that Ghostship's opening sequence was discussed as well, because that was a moment you didn't expect. Masterfully done!
Great add!
I'll bring more bourbon... I'll also get my skills down for manhattan cocktails to be a proper bartender!
you were amazing and always a good friend!
@boneheadweekly6334 You are too kind.
I loved the movie when i watched it. Much love from Argentina
thank you so much!
When Evil Lurks is one of the best horror films of the last decade.
Ooooh. I’ve heard about this one and too disturbing for me - but it was received well in the horror community.
Great movie right there
Moss is the best..IT Crowd was brilliant.
YES!
Ah yes. Ben’s poem from Stephen king’s “IT”. I was hoping that would get recognition. Great episode!
Spanks!
I heard the " Beans" poem a little different .." Beans, beans , good for your heart, the more you eat the more you fart...the more you fart, the better you feel, so eat your beans at every meal"...I heard this in the late '60s in first grade. Way older than the Gunslinger novels. I worked at Asbury College in the '80s, and The Real Ghostbusters and Robotech( cartoons, comics and books) were really popular among the students.
we thought so!
Nitrate based film is more or less transparent gunpowder. Something was added to it that reduced flammability, but that evaporated out. It rotted with age. The Kentucky Theater showed the 1922 " Nosferatu", and went all out with it! Decorated the theater, a professional organist to provide the soundtrack , people in costume...it was great. The Brain That Wouldn't Die! Jan in the pan! Mystery Science Theater 3000 kept that movie alive. Years ago, I saw a silent movie that was sort of like a 1920s version of " Jurassic Park"....the Lost World"? I saw part of a silent science fiction movie...a crew went to Mars in a ship that looked like a biplane submarine. Mars was supposed to be a utopia? It's been a while. Spaceballs is a comfort movie....
Probably the Lost World! thanks for the info!
I wish I had bet money on this episode because I KNEW Joe would choose Vincent Price. I thought of him as well. 👌🏽
No mention of the zf-1 . . . Fail . . .
but Dude... there are SO MANY!
@@boneheadweekly6334 It's light. Handle's adjustable for easy carrying, good for righties and lefties. Breaks down into four parts, undetectable by x-ray, ideal for quick, discreet interventions. A word on firepower. Titanium recharger, three thousand round clip with bursts of three to three hundred, and with the Replay button - another Zorg invention - it's even easier. One shot...And Replay sends every following shot to the same location! And to finish the job, all Zorg oldies but goldies: rocket launcher, arrow launcher, with exploding or poisonous gas heads, our famous net launcher, the always efficient flamethrower...My favorite. And for the grand finale, the all-new Ice Cube system!
It wasn't too unusual back in the day to plug up overpressure valves in steamships to get more pressure out of the boilers, and therefore more power. ..downside is they occasionally went boom... probably when one went boom, it probably sent flying chunks into adjacent boilers... The Hopkinsville Goblins would make a good movie....Kentucky doesn't really have any cryptids...gotta make something of the ones we have.
fascinating!!! thank you so much for sharing. We'll read about that!
This was a creative one, guys. I especially enjoyed the Elm Street bit! 😂
thank you!
Nice sound effects, Joe! 😂
chomp chomp
Joe singing was not on my BINGO card for today, but here we are. 😂
it was magical.
A cult legend talking to other legends!
too kind!
I’m digging into the second half of this today and enjoying the culture talk. Along with what James said (about watching music videos as a teen) - I can relate to this! I remember bogarting the tv remote at my grandparent’s house and waiting for my favorite music videos to come on either vh1 or MTV. 😅 You might wait several hours just to see Joe Elliot in his ripped up jeans, belting out “Do you take sugar? One lump of two?” 🎶 😅
@@screamfan we appreciate and worry about you. :)
Really enjoyed this podcast and listening to my dear friend Mary Ann ❤
Thanks!
I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to Mary Ann Farley. Her experiences, knowledge, and interest in paranormal activities are exceptional. I had never thought about the movies she mentioned involving spirits! A great podcast.
Thank you! She was a great guest!
Great review! I’m curious to see if they’ll continue on with the lore at some point in the future or if they’ll leave it as is.
Tooooooooodddddddddd!!!!!!
He's magical!
Glenn loves you all equally. Chad just happens to reply to messages in more than three words. ;)
Members of the Bonehead cover band could be Will Sasso, Charlie Korsmo and Curtis Armstrong
Harumph!
Grimlock . . .
HARUMPH!!!! Soloman Grundy want pants too! (obscure reference)
No Chad this week? Boooooo.
not boo. YAY!!!! :)
I always thought Darth Vader''s helmet and clothing was an environment suit of some kind...like the white Imperial Storm troopers' armor. Same for Predator...not really a mask, but part of the suit or at least helmet. I knew about Guy Fawkes prior to " V for Vendetta" by accident, almost. I worked at Asbury College with a British exchange student in the '80s, and he brought it up... The Lando Calrissian books by L.Neil Smith? I read one of them...
Agreed!
How much do I love that James brought up Rorschach! I loved Watchmen and was shocked at the run time because it didn’t feel like it was that long. 👌🏽
That's because you were drunk!
@@boneheadweekly6334 Booooooo. I was a sober viewer. I know good cinema! 🍿 😎
Comments are back on - woo! So I haven’t seen this one but maybe it’s one I’ll have to watch with Granny. 🧐
Great episode Boneheads! What are the odds… Chloe and I spoke about Twin Movies on this week’s episode of ‘Up Late’.
Whoa! Also didn’t know ghoulies and gremlins came out the same year. Interesting. 🧐 Good catch, Chad.
Huh. I didn’t realize deep impact was more accurate than Armageddon but cool trivia to know.
Joe - I love that you guys try to get the behind the scenes creators on this show. While there's always interest in celebs, they do get alllll the public interviews and the directors, producers and writers really don't get all the recognition they should. This is the meat and potatoes of film, so thank you for having the most interesting people on this show.
You're words mean so much, but your cash would be better! Thank you for listening! :)
Talk talk talk at ya!
Other than Star Trek, I haven't seen any graduation films....lotta teen films in the '70s and '80s, but not any centered around graduation specifically. High school suckage levels vary a lot, for many different reasons. I went to Kentucky and Florida high schools, and Florida pegged the suckage meter. The only bright spots at the Florida high school was a physics and science fiction class. The rest was just an overflowing septic tank...
" Cowboy Feng's Space Bar and Grill" by Steven Brust..... more interesting to work at than visit.
Thanks
Spaceballs Gus Galactic Diner
Catsup saves bad eggs. lol
I’ve heard that Ray Wise hadn’t seen Melting Emil before that scene and had no idea what was coming. His priceless reaction certainly seems to bear that out.
thank you!
Half way through and it hasn’t been mentioned so I’ll just say - the dude in the truck in Brightburn. Oooof. That guy’s jaw was just hanging there. I’d say it was pretty gruesome. Another one - Cameron in Halloween Kills and the DJ in Halloween Ends. A more obscure one - the guy in the elevator in the movie “Drive”. I don’t know if any of you 3 saw that movie with Ryan Gosling?
seriously, we could do a whole series on this topic!
The poor bastard who falls from the hot air balloon and lands feet first in Roger Mitchell’s ‘Enduring Love’ (2004) has to be one of the most horrific deaths in cinema 😬
dude, you're correct. we could do three parts on this!
I was 17 when " Alien" was out at the theater, and about five foot three...I had to sit almost on top the seat back to see past a woman with a Marge Simpson hairdo who sat in front of me...she screamed like a banshee at the chest burster scene, which got more than a few laughs from the audience.... Another woman was worried if Ripley was going to go back for the cat. Audience participation can be funny...
Is it amazing how we as adults can relive our youth through the eyes of our children when they discover all the franchises we loved growing up our selves.
You're exactly right! thank you for listening!
The last two Ghostbusters ( Afterlife and Frozen Empire) are just fun...cars should have a gunners seat like the Ecto-1. Ghostbusters: Answer the Call wasn't bad...I would have done it slightly different. I would have had it where they were opening a franchise in another city ( like Chicago), and use actual Chicago ghost legends. I wouldn't have had the " male Janine" as rock stupid, but as a small town/rural guy in the big city for the first time...just out of place. There was a lice outbreak when I was in elementary school....the school sent home a milk carton of rank smelling shampoo to use...I never had them, though. A guy I went to high school with was one of these " too much information" types, and wound up getting crabs.... earning the nickname " King Crab".. Poohniverse? An evil Tinkerbell? Years ago, when office parties involved booze, a woman came dressed as Tinkerbell, got ralphing drunk, and was put on the bus with her address on a sign around her neck...by people only slightly less drunk than her. I called her Tinkerbell from Hell ....
Chad is lying... totally. :)
40:37 *phew* for a moment there I thought I was going to have to choke out a couple boneheads . . . 😎👍🏻
We want to celebrate the women that have given us so much entertainment, and I'm also a terrible person!
& for the record . . . Neve Campbell is HIGHLY overrated! Anyone that has, “My character can’t be killed” in their contract just ruins any point to watching those damn films
Sorority Bimbos In The Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama.....I saw that movie in the Fayette Mall Cinema...
Yes! The Babysitter was so fun! I'm glad you mentioned Samara Weaving because I feel like she's really made her mark in the horror genre.
Joe -- you said you stopped watching American Horror Story. How many seasons did you watch?
Ok -- last comment. Surprisingly I don't see Neve as a Scream Queen but rather -- a FINAL girl. Does that make sense? So you're good. 😀
@@screamfan Yes!
@@screamfan great question. I'll have to go back and see! thank you. hopefully the opening jokes weren't too much. We respect women so much and wanted to make sure we did more to celebrate that!
Godzilla
great one!
