Wow, I can actualy say I have wanted to try and paddle up this park since the day it was mapped. Silly point but I was in the helicopter the day it was layed out. At the time I think the higher ups had this area on their radar as a park option. A local logging company was pulling out of the adjacent area. But there was this one last stand of high value Fir running up the to the hight of land bordering the now park. The government at the time was just starting a push on new parks so the logging might pose an issue for the new park, but there was no park yet, better establish one fast. One helicopter out of Campbell River, Park rep front left seat with a map, my job today was the interface guy for the government, Forest Service, need to see what Parks rep sees so sitting rear left, and two company reps in the rear center and right seats. So this happens fast, when the chopper reachs the opposite shore from the river mouth we stop and just look at the whole area and identify the point on the opposite shore that is not logged and has a defined ridgeline, put an X on the map and start flying the ridge up, the Parks rep and myself confiring on the new pencil boundary. The whole park was layed out in about 1/2 hour, including the resolution to the logging question. AS we hit the ridge of contention we take the time to look at the intended harvesting of a very steep rock canyon running to the ridge, stunning trees, and listen to the company cry not to leave this behind and of course the Parks guy has no concerns, time for my job, which is point out what the company is trying to do. You require a 1 1/2 tree length snag falling outside a block to work within the block. So I knew the Park rep will say no falling snags in the park, I and the company know try to move the boudary away from the boundary on such steep terrain means they loose half the trees and any viability of havesting, they bit their tounges and sat quietly as we finished the boundary exercise. So it is great to see what I thought would be a good paddle/hike.
Thanks for all of that. That's quite interesting to get some of the history how it became a park. I hope myself that I get back up there again one day. There's just so much to do and so little time to do it all.
@@stucrabe9512 No, thank you, Durring the flight I had the trip in my head, the tricky spots. So to see you actualy moving along as I envisioned was something come full circle from my view. I was just asking a guy if the Artlish dump was still open last summer???lol
Tell us the story of Mt Doom!
Have been there several times in years past, Heli fishing , It is a special place
What a stunning place to camp - fantastic scenery
a little effort sure get you into beautiful places, good on you.
Hi Keith, thanks for watching!
Nice work Stu!!!!! Looks like it was a fun trip!!
Wonderful and exceptionally well crafted VIDEO Stu. Certainly brought back a flood of memories that cascaded off my computer monitor as I accompanied you on the Outer Peninsula. You are the master tactician of the video world. Not at all sure how you will top this video, but please keep trying. All the very best, Mike
Epic Vid Stu! You really captured the essence of a special place. Always amazing running into great people in beautiful and unique areas. Max and I ended up completing the full circumnavigation in 31 days. The Brooks Peninsula was definitely a highlight, nowhere else like it. We spent a while chatting about how to come back and get that ring you left at Doom Mountain
That is awesome. I am glad that you found me on TH-cam. I did warn you that I am slow at getting the editing done. It was also great meeting you guys on your trip. Glad to hear that you made it home safely.
This is so cool and very beautiful. You guys look like you're having a blast. Also, if modern civilization ends, I'm betting you guys survive...just avoid the dark, scary caves...jeez, have you never seen a horror movie lol
Nice Video Stu!
That's nothin, see Washaway beach in Washington State.
I don’t think my comment would be “Fun”.
Maybe we will try one day and find out!!
Nice video, gonna have to make a trip to watch a flight sometime for sure!
This is so awesome and wholesome it put a smile on my face to watch this!
Looks like it was an awesome trip Stu!!!! Great job on the video! I can’t believe it was out for 2 weeks before I saw it 😂
Thanks for watching Ace
Loved your enthusiasm, you and your wife are like kids in a sweet shop when you first saw Starship/Superheavy on the pad. I Can’t blame you I would be exactly the same myself. I hope to see it in person and experience a live launch real soon but it’s a long trip from the Uk. Thank you for covering this launch.
If this interests you, you should really try to make it happen. I spoke to many people that were from the Uk, Japan, Neverlands and other places. You have no excuse. GO!! It is really amazing. Have fun
Great vlog and well done collecting all the footage.
Nice vlog! I found myself in it down at the launch site lol. I was over on beach for the launch. Probably going to wait for ift5 to go back
Yes, I'm also hoping to go to another launch but I'm going to wait till he has it landing back on the launch pad. I think that everybody should see this thing fly at least once.
Awesome video well done guys🫶🤙🚀
really freaking happy that you got to experience this!!!
Thanks buddy!!!
i flew all the way from europe to see ift3 was a great experience, wondering if i should go for ift 4 or ift5(not sure if i can actually manage to make that)
im actually in the video haha 10:07 on the hills
@@thethirdeve5089 that's so cool. I'm thinking that I will go to another lunch after he has figured out how to catch it on the launch pad.
you should wait till theyre good at landing that would be some good guarantee for awsomeness.
@@yujinhikita5611 I will go for ift5 unless they manage to not launch in July, I’d actually like to see a fireball when they try and land the booster
Enjoyed the vlog! I want to go see a Starship launch someday too
Thanks for watching, I hope that you make it one day!

My wife and I are going to do this! 🎉🎉🎉 I like the gamble on the launch license!

Which month did you go? 9:25 - What is your tour guide company's name? Is that cross-over inside the park? I mean the great migration
Thanks for watching. We were there at the end of the migration at the beginning of September. The tour company was, and beyond.

Thanks bud!!
What an extraordinary adventure!
nice job. always wanted to go do this trip. you definitely did it right. great video.
Hiked up mountain St Patrick's about 10 years ago. Was curious about Lowrey Bay. A hiker broke his leg out there and apparently crawled out to parking lot not many people around in off season thanks for video
Thanks for the comment. I've always enjoyed the challenge of Lowrie Bay. It's definitely one of my top five on the coast. I also remember the guy with the broken leg. I'm sure his story beats the rest of them.
Wow!
😂
Amazing! So cool!
Never been in this area we will need to go looks beautiful for sure!
Thanks for the comment!
your camera work is awesome, good suff
Beautiful scenery
can do fishing there??
I don't see too many boats out there. You could carry a fishing rod out there and fish off the rocks
The drone footage looks amazing!!
Thanks, Jen
Shite too many people going there, that’ll spoil it for sure.Paradise lost soon once they pave that road.Damn.
Good video. What time of year was that?
Hello, Thanks for watching the vid. It was a good time with the family. We were out at Cape Scott the end of June/22
@stucrabe9512 Thankyou, for uploading it. Very useful. I'm going to take my daughter up there for a few days towards the end of month. As for the weird bloke with the tent, just unbelievable. If I'd been there, he'd have been gone, mate, at least 200 ft away, whether he liked it or not. That was too much. I felt annoyed just watching.
I went to your beach. Very nice
Wow , AWSOME footage of our beautiful island ! Thank you for sharing !
Thanks I put a lot of work into these videos.
Over the years I have hiked to San Joseph Bay 75 times starting in the later part of the 60’s and I only got in 4 trips to Cape Scott, I have many fond memories of those hikes.
Why did they let it happen? Rock, rock and more rock! I'm upset they messed with natural sediment transport long ago and didn't care. I've seen a copy of the old land plat and hundreds of people have lost their land to the ocean.
Sat my ass down and WOW! Very well done Stu. Looking forward to more. Cheers.
