Just answer me this.. Does this product runs a seperate query for each dashboard element added to the chart ? Like if i add 6 scorecards which contains different column counts of the same table.. will it query 6 different times ? Or be smart enough to realise all these counts can be taken in 1 query ?

I would imagine you're not a Tableau developer so you don't see the benefits. Tableau is as easy if not easier to use vs Metabase. Learning Tableau is on the scale of Excel where beginners to advanced level users can build and visualize their data. Tableau has the ability to create complex calculation and compute them within the program. There is no limit to what you can learn. I can use different methodologies to come to the same data outcome in Tableau, which is great for data validation. My experience with Metabase has been disappointing. It provides basic level charts, diagrams and datasets easier than Tableau, but not by much. However, it lacks the ability for customization which makes it hard for data densification and other data techniques you don't want your SQL server to compute. Metabase is very simple and can be compared to building Excel dashboards, but on the internet. Now all you need is a PowerPoint mode. I would consider Metabase to be a compliment to Tableau, but can never replace it. With Metabase you pledge your alliance to them, just like all platforms. If I had to give a recommendation I would recommend bundling Dataiku instead of Metabase, Alteryx, and Tableau. Metabase is not even comparable to what Dataiku can do. Yes for the Money Metabase is attractive, but think of it like shopping at a grocery store. Price per ounce allows you to see the value. Replace ounces with features, and Metabase would be $75+ a month/feature for enterprise, and Tableau would be $1.50 a month/feature.

Amazing product (love the query builder!) BUT the lack of a simple way to parameterize questions and dashboards by database really significantly limits the use-case. It advertises embedding, but if your application uses different databases per client, it seems you're out of luck unless you want to try some really clunky serialization thing.

I feel completely lost on what the purpose of the demo was and I don't think I learned anything about any of the products mentioned based on the content of the video or what the actual differences are other than sending emails out of the organization (which is also sketchy, there are a few things you can do about that) and metabase didn't display any capabilities for charts reacting to selections on other charts and there is no comparison on how to achieve the same goals with both tools so you can say which tool is actually easier/faster to use

When I create this query with my data set, I get pct_ret as a decimal, rather than as a percentage. I don't see how she got the number to format as a percentage.

I was trying to see if I can do drill through filter.. like select a catagory and it automatically populate its sub category. This feature is in dashboard but it is also needed in SQL query filter like this. Can you point to how to achieve this?

It would be usefull to have a 'select all' button on the drop down list, specially when you have a very long list of options.

35:55 Does the open source version of metabase support having multiple schedules for refreshing models ? I have a model that has data that's close to a transactional level like orders that should be refreshed every 15 minutes. I have another model that has daywise stats which would refresh every midnight. Would I be able to achieve this ?

My company's dashboard is suffering from loading issues. Often the data doesn't load and throws an error and other times it works just fine. Not very reliable tbh.

I agree with @MohamedMontaser91. I am trying to evaluate Metabase and Superset for my small team, and Metabase is soo much more user-friendly. If not for lack of visualizations, I wouldn't even look at Superset..

from a user who used both tools, i would choose metabase over superset any day just for the easy deployment but you guys need to work on more advanced charts, roles and permissions and filters features. the one thing that is a down for me is row level security is a paid feature.

tableau requires centos 7 based on linux, or windows to work, gigabytes of install, high requirements Metabase runs as a container light, powerful, flexible... i use with docker container, but.. i want to try with kubernetes with high availability love Metabase.

I'm very sorry, but this is the second Metabase video tutorial where it does not go over the step by step process of creating the questions for which the visualizations are based on. I am a COMPLETE BEGINNER and do NOT have questions already saved that I can just use. Just show us the steps, stop skipping, and talk through it as you're doing it.

Would be perfect set specific folder to automatically map uploaded .csv files and reports.. imagine if we're abble to set default file path to metabase and metabase automatically load after that just need create a connection via FTP to this specific folder and drop files there and All Reports generated by .csv files get fresh information without "human upload".
