I know that this suffering is perhaps supposed to give his character more depth and likeability. But dang, the tears keep coming.

LXC wasn't left alone, he wants to be alone.... who was at seclusion that has so many company lol. LXC was reflecting all LWJ could do is to support him on the side like how LXC supported LWJ when he was the one grieving. I don't know where did people get that this person abandon this person issue lol. don't people know the word space. LXC needs space and healing just like LWJ did for so many years yet he was still not okay until WWX got revived. To be honest wangxian was just lucky at their happy ending and with the help of Huaisang they got reunited. but imagine if this was real life or it was slice of life or historical genre where no possession or it's not possible, just look at song lan's story there's no rebirth cause that's how actually in real life there's no second chances. wangxian would also not have a happy ending if he didn't possess MX everyone's life actually in this story is so complicated and tragic everyone lost someone until the end no one is really happy they just make the most out of what they have. And I believe that's also what wangxian was doing they're not actually happily ever after, they just earned what they have, they suffered a lot so they were rewarded but it wasn't really so happy cause LXC wasn't really okay.WWX also knows this, deep inside WWX he has a lot of regrets and something to be sorry for, he also lost people he cared. But they just moving on as what a person usually does. so I don't understand why people just painted one POV forgetting that this story didn't only have one side but had too many.

To be honest, to assimilate the characters like Lan Xichen to real life , we should not neglect their sorrow and the amount of trauma they got left with, after the drama . So this animatic really deepens the story and dives in to the emotions of side characters. They were not hero , they were humans.

sobbing rn, STOPP XICHEN NOOOOOO MY BBY 😭😭😭 On a note, this animatic was done extremely well, and the fact that you cant see LXC’s face at the end makes it even more tragic and sorrowful. Now im gonna rewatch this several times.

only hot ppl break down in tears about Lan Xichen at least weekly (<- evidence: after watching this I am weeping) this was so beautiful 😭 i particularly loved the sorrow following him like a dark wave, it was so evocative and heartbreaking. this was such a beautiful animatic, i am cradling it to my chest like a bowl of soup

LXC is such a tragic character. He loves so honestly, but it burns him at every step. He loved his mother, and was forced away from her. He loved his father, but he wasn’t there when he died. He loves his brother, but he had to punish him for loving someone. He loved NMJ, and lost him. He loved JGY, but has to live with the guilt of killing him (and there’s still guilt, even after knowing he betrayed him, even after knowing everything he did). He loved NHS, but now he can never truly trust him again, because there’s a chance he needlessly killed JGY because of him. And now, he is so distrustful of his own mind, that he relegates himself to seclusion instead of taking on his role as clan leader (because how can he be clan leader when all his decisions were the wrong ones?) I just want to explore his character some more. He’s great.

Reading mdzs was just expecting one way of snatching back my will to live for a while and getting a completely different one… I expected to do the usual escapism and ended up with a kind of ‘glad i’m not them’ and ‘if they can keep going after that-‘ feeling

It hurts. I'm bad at analyzing characters that didn't hook me (and that's pretty much all of the MDZS), so it's only other people who show me the real insides of the characters. And I really feel sorry for LXC. He deserves a better ending. Although I understand that MDZS is more life than a fairy tale. Even the best people don't have good endings. P.S. Its videos like this that remind me MDZS isn't just a love story. It's really a tragedy. All these awful things happen to the characters you love and they almost never process it. They are just forced to move on. LXC lost his found family. Jin Ling's parents are still dead and now his closest uncle is too. Jiang Cheng is left to grapple with the fact that he failed his brother so deeply so many times and still has to live with the memories of his clan's annihilation. A-Yuan and Wen Ning are forced to bear the burden of laying to rest their entire family. Nie Huaisang, though capable, has to face reality in that killing his brothers murderer doesn't bring him back and now his brothers soul will fight for 100 years, still full of rage. Even WWX and LWJ will be haunted by the events of the Sunshot Campaign and Burial Mound sieges. Pretty much no one gets a happy ending because of the choices they have to live with now.

Tbh LXC is one of my absolute fav characters in this series and it's honestly sad how we never got a proper conclusion to him after JGY's death Also he's just a great guy, justice for this poor man

I love it that two brother comfort one each other with their sober of lost.

I like the twist of Nie Huisang being an actual genius at politics and manipulation, and his character is very likeable. However, I will never forgive him for making Xichen the one to kill Guangyao. I guess he wanted JGY to know what it feels like to be killed by his sworn brother (and possibly lover), but that was CRUEL to do to Xichen

There is just so much emotion and so much of LXC’s pain packed into this little animation. LWJ trusted someone absolutely and got happiness. LXC trusted someone absolutely and got betrayal and heartbreak. Very powerful little piece.

This actually made me tear up, it was so so so beautifully made! I'm rereading the novel and rewatching CQL right now, paying more attention to Xichen, and he's becoming one of my favourites! The amount of grief and stress that he was put through from a young age - having to pretty much raise Wangji even though he was only 2 or 3 years older AND becoming the sect leader when he was barely an adult!! - and the way his story ends is so unfair and heartbreaking, I truly wish that somewhere, on an extra that was never published, he found happiness again or at least peace. Thinking about him mourning and meditating, unable to speak through the shock, destroyed me. Thank you for giving him closure here, the animation and character designs were gorgeous!
