07 KX85 PART 3: Build is Complete!!
Completed the KX85 build.
In this video I cleaned and rebuilt the carburetor, sorted out the wiring and cables, reinstalled the carburetor, and installed the fresh plastics, graphics, grips, and more.
I installed bar risers, but ended up removing them off camera due to the clutch cable being to short. The bike sold within minutes of finishing the final video.
Wishing the best of luck to the bike and it’s new rider. Can’t wait for the next project!

07 KX85 Part 2: Bottom End Rebuild and Reassembly
มุมมอง 1.7Kปีที่แล้ว
Part two of the 09 KX85 project. In this video we dive into splitting the cases and installing new crank bearings and seals, a new crankshaft, and replacing the top end on this engine. This was necessary due to a poorly installed crank seal by a previous owner as well as my breaking the transmission side of the crank shaft during removal of a reverse thread nut. My mistakes definitely made the ...
07 KX-85 Part 1: New Project… Full rebuild??
มุมมอง 2.4Kปีที่แล้ว
First video of the 09 KX85 project series. I purchased two KX-85’s within a 2 week period, paying $900 for both. I swapped several parts over to the better frame and began my project. In this video we begin cleaning and disassembling the bikes, as well as flushing brake lines, bleeding brakes, new pads, servicing pivot bearings for swing arm and shock, and remove the engine for engine work.
01 KX 250 Carb Adjustment/Fixing Charleigh’s CRF 50 and Riding/Repair Lesson
มุมมอง 1.2Kปีที่แล้ว
CHARLEIGH TAKES OVER. Attempted to adjust my carb and ended up getting side tracked with Charleighs Shenanigans. We got a great riding lesson in and some wrenching time. I moved the needle clip up one position to lean out the mixture in my KX250. We then ended up noticing that her rear brake drum actuator rod was missing a nut. We installed a spacer and nut temporarily until the correct one was...

2001 KX 250 RESTORATION BUILD AND FIRST START (TWO YEAR PROJECT)
มุมมอง 3872 ปีที่แล้ว
Capturing the progress of my KX-250 restoration from start to finish. This build was started in mid 2020 and continued through a deployment and 3 moves. This was my first restoration or build of this level and I’m extremely proud of how it turned out. Next video we will show it run, hit the trail, discuss the budget and overall cost of the build, and discuss upcoming projects/the next resto. Th...
Thats really cool .. good for u dad .. that will help her later on in😊 Life and good bonding 💗
@@newellweeks2759 Thank you! We love riding together. We are hoping to get back to making videos soon.
Where did you get the plastics? That front fender looks way better than the stock one.
Actually, I got lucky and these came with the bike. I just added graphics after the rebuild. Rocky mountain, eBay, and Amazon should have some in stock in this color.
thank you for the video!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching. I had to take a pause for some commitments with my job, but I'm hoping to get back to it in the winter. I've got several awesome projects waiting on me when I get back to the states.
Bruh, the man is wearing PJs and working in his shop🤦🏻
Working in "My Garage". Not a shop. Not a professional. And it's mine, so I'll wear what I want. Glad you enjoyed.
You wonder why you don’t have that many subs, the man doesn’t even try. This is a shitty channel
I have a 1998 kx100 engine that needs to be rebuilt
Its really not as difficult as many people think. If you grab a case splitter off of amazon, do plenty of research, and take your time, it should turn out good.
For business purposes
What’s your ig
Is this the same for a 250cc engine for a hawk dirt bike
It’s similar but not the same. I’d look into a search specifically for that engine
How did you clean up the Pipe to make it shiny
Bench grinder with wire wheel
You forgot to put the peace of pipe that seals the connection between expansion chamber and silencer
I didn’t forget. I just didn’t have one to install. It works fine without it but I would definitely have ordered one if i were keeping it. That’s a great catch!
You tightening them clutch springs way too tight
You are correct. Thanks for the input! I’m investing in some good torque wrenches so I can make sure they are to spec in the future! This was only my second bottom end.
💯💯
Thanks for watching!
Looks like a nice bike! I can’t wait to see the final product!
You’ll have to come to the shop to check it out when it’s done! Next video should be up this week.
11:57 Interesting that the clutch/basket doesn't have to be removed to change the shift shaft. That's good to know. Just bought an '06 KX100 from a friend last week and I noticed the shift shaft has been broken off. Somebody put the shifter back onto it. It just has half of the splines to hold onto. Surprisingly the shifter is still tightly held to the shaft w/ no slop relative to one another. Can't decide if I should go ahead and replace it. On one hand, it's technically broken and it would stink if the shifter strips out. But on the other hand, it currently works fine and it's a loaner bike for me to get friends to try riding, so the bike will likely get crashed more, and with my luck, I'd replace the shaft and then a friend would drop the bike and snap it off on the first ride out lmao
Can’t blame you. I’d go ahead and swap it BUT couldn’t blame you for leaving it if it works right. And your right. It’s awesome that you can change it without removing clutch.
@Charleighs Garage what size is the nut that holds the clutch basket in place?
Hopefully you were able to find your answer. The bike was already gone so I wasn't able to check it for you.
Hi awesome video hoping you can help, I have recently rebuilt a 88kx80 on the bench it had all gears (casing off) now back together in the bike I only have 1st neural & 2nd but when selecting those gears the selector is stiff up and down once in gear the selector dose not spring back up? Could you shed some light on my issue? Thanks
Sounds like the shift mechanism isn’t set correctly. I’d start by pulling the inner clutch cover back off and inspecting the shift mechanism and spring to make sure it is all correct.
Hello, i have a kx85 2011. Does the clutch side case have to push against the shift shaft in order for it to stop any movements, as my shift rocks back and fourth quite abit and i figures that my clutch side case was previously welded and it might be warped.
Mine has some play. I think it’s pretty normal. I couldn’t tell you what the standard range of motion is or tolerance for it.
@@charleighsgarage306 Is there anything holding that spring in place ? If i was to shift without the case on the spring will come off.
@@brotherkhan2885 Yes the inner cover holds the washer onto the shift shaft, keeping the shaft from moving. You need the cover on to be able to shift without spring coming off.
@@charleighsgarage306 Yes I understand but for some reason when everything is put back together the shifter eventually will stop shifting, i think its because my case is warped, do you thing it would help if i put a circlip on the shaft on the other side were the shift lever is to stop the movement.
Try it. If it doesn’t work, you could always resurface the inner cover. You can do this by laying sandpaper over flat/level surface like glass and rubbing the cover against it to re-surface it flat. This will need to be done correctly to make sure gasket surface isn’t compromised. After that, the warp should have no effect on the shaft. May just need to get a new inner cover altogether.
