the irony of the "wrist twist" is that in the late 80's /90' we came up with the butterfly wheel for short travel race cars, then in the 2010's we started using video game controllers to operate sensitive high end equipment (supercars, stealth fighters and even submarines), so really itvwas just ahead of its time

80 Suzuki GS750E, 81 Suzuki GS 650E, 82 Honda VF750 Sabre, 84 VF500 Interceptor, 89 Suzuki 750 Katana were my 1980's bikes. The 81 650E was my favorite of this group and even though I only kept it a year I managed to put 20,000 miles (including an 1100 mile day) on it. It (+ my later 99 Suzuki SV650) also made me realize that a nice torquey engine was a lot more fun to ride on a daily basis!

The Honda shown is the CB750F1. Two years later Honda brought out the CB750F2 with the black engine which was the best handling bike of that line and was capable of 125mph.

The Z1R-TC you showed was the ultimate 70s superbike, a friend had one that after visiting Sandy Kosman went 141mph in the 1/4 mile in street trim, it was insane!

Bench seats had another use for teenagers.

The Rickman Kawasaki from the 70s still left the 80s super bikes in the dust, particularly with a tweaked motor and definitely at high speed.

I was a motorcycle mechanic for 35 years, and cut my teeth on 60s/70's bikes. To include an ironhead sportster in a list of 'fast bikes' is simply laughable. I stopped watching right there... Cheers.

I had a 83 Honda Magna V4 750 cruiser! I almost got a speeding ticket doing a 128 mph on radar! I flew by the cop on the Hwy and as soon as he turned on the lights I pulled over. After chatting with the Officer and showing him my licence & insurance he showed me the radar. And he said, because I pulled over immediately he let me go with a Stern warning!

I have to disagree on your list.... I owned 2 Suzuki GT750 Water Cooled motorcycles... with a total of 200,000 miles between them.... I also rode a KZ900 Kawasaki on a 2,000 mile road trip and the Suzuki's were more responsive, faster and much more comfortable to ride..... guess it was left out because it was a 2 stroke triple, but I still have my '77 GT750 along with an '85 Gold Wing.... I still prefer the Suzuki

The Yamaha FJ1100 of 84, 85 is a exceptional bike. I still have mine. I crossed Australia 7 times . A very good sport touring bike. Time for some TLC now, with, 150, 000 ks on the speedo.
