I don’t get the curtain spirit trick! The woman in the curtains is in trance with a bag on her head. She’s not “guarding” anything. The two gents sitting in front of the curtains aren’t “guarding” anything. They’re just sitting there enjoying the show. A lovely young assistant crawls under the back curtain, places the ball in the glass, rings the bell and crawls back under the back curtain. The magician then opens the front curtain, and everyone claps for some strange reason! It’s the simplest trick in the book; on the level of “got your nose” by placing your thumb between 2 fingers.

This is all fake, the bloke called “Gavin” has been on stage with him before in another show, all bloody lies & fake

Please stop saying his show is rigged. It isn't. Derren doesn't use stooges or actors. Derren once said, if he did that, it would cost him a lot of money paying these people, as he performs large number of times during a tour. And he said he wouldn't waste his money on it. People seem to think that if they can't work out how he does it, they go to the usual lazy cliche "fixed" answer.

At 17:02, Derren's production team in the wings are listening to this woman, and once she says the name of her late grandmother, they start to quickly name it on the coin. Derren uses the story about his grandfather to give the production team time to engrave the coin, and of course what you don't see here is that it did take the woman a while to get from the balcony seating to the stage, edited out of course for this TV version. Then with sleight of hand, misdirection, the coin covered in string was placed in the box.

He is brilliant

Just to let you know at 38:24 the woman is not drinking vinegar. This is a simple misdirection trick by Derren. He ensures the other audience members does taste vinegar, but the full glass he gives to the other woman is in fact diet coke, which has been left out for a few hours so it can become flat and not bubbly.

Picks a random person out audience and reveals a coin in a locked box he never touched and it had Doris on it how was that possible without knowing before hand

Why does introductory Derren Brown sound like Kryten? edit - I mean the Darren Ross version, not Robert Llewellyn's Kryten.

The vinegar was in the cap only, and when he unscrewed the cap, there would have been a normal drink in the bottle, notice when he asks her to smell it, she doesn't seem to react because there was no unpleasant smell.

I’ve always loved Derren Brown as an illusionist/mentalist and have always been blown away by his work. But the moments between 30:06 and 31:24 whilst he’s picking members from the audience are a bit off. His choices were very specific and didn’t seem random. And why didn’t it show why he didn’t take the guy from the upstairs seats? It’s first time where I have looked at his work and gone “fake”!

lol... he fuckt up.. he knew what was on the numbered pictures when he gave them. making it not random, the only thing random was the numbers on their chests, which he didn't use in any of his predictions.. doink.. the lolipops and picture order he picked.. as you might notice

The pictures , Egg, Needle, Ice cream, Goose, Moose, Apple Juice. Each letter spells out Enigma, he predicted it long in advance

Daren Brown is a good entertainer and hypnotist but certainly not a genius. Most of his tricks are done through slight of hand. 90% of his act he spends talking. Albert Einstein was a genius.

Before he took the girls smock off another envelope was handed to him through the curtain behind the girl which he put in his pocket. When he took the smock back to the table he switched the envelopes. Have you wondered why he put the girl center stage close to the curtain. Before he positioned the girl you could see him looking for where the curtains met.

p.s. He actually did not need a false top on the small box as it was not locked. My uncle had a lock on the small box as well.

He got the lady to say Doris. Then he told a story while somebody backstage was engraving Doris on the coin and wrapping it in wool. While the lady was coming on stage he walked to the side of the stage which was dark where he was handed the coin wrapped in wool. He walked back to the table put the wool in the glass through a false top of the small box. He then pushed the small box into the large box through a false back on the large box. The black cloth on the box was hiding everything. Did you not ask yourself why the black cloth was needed. My uncle used to do this trick twenty years ago.

Even though I am a skeptic, I find him to be wonderful.
