1 man job. 8 weeks. Laser cut and pre-folded. Welded and riveted.
Magnifique les barges en aluminium. Comment les trouver ?
From where you bought the aluminum foil/ parts?
So where is the final product???
I wonder if a fiber laser machine would handle this kind of job… if so, it would be half the hours welding… just not sure if they can penetrate 6mm 🤨
Modern fiber lasers can cut 5, 10, 15 and more mm ;) It dependent of laser power and laser head max power. There right now 20kW or 30kW lasers.
th-cam.com/video/b6MffOtKRCE/w-d-xo.html ;)
What are the overall dimensions, and displacement? Nice work, and a beautiful build!
Wish it was made as rescue boat, the capacity are big! Great built though. 👍👍👍👍👍
Nice job, I think I need to drop in and try and sell you some consumables, maybe a cooler and a push-pull mig gun :)
How much is the cost for building one of there? Aproximate
Beautiful Boat! Why did you choose to have the hull make two points at the front as opposed to one? And why not just totally flat on the back? How many welding hours would you estimate went into this? Thanks!
Hi Jacob, It was the customers' decision to have two hulls bow and stern. The idea is to lift mooring buoys through the gap on the bow. Space between two hulls at the stern is used to safely install/Mount 2 x 15HP engines. I will be posting a new video once the barge is completely fitted out. It is 95% ready and the customer deciding what lifting gear he wants to use on it. We have managed to do some stability tests and it was pretty impressive. Keep an eye on our channel for the update. Best regards, Slava from LatBros Marine
Now thats nice ,, that would make a great base for a house boat
have you got the spec,s for that barge would like to build one for my mooring bizo
Hi Kevin. Yes we have got all specs and drawings, including 3d model. Email me @ alloyboatsltd@gmail.com
Guys, how thick this aluminum is?
Arvidas, this is 6mm 5083 H111 aluminium throughout
@@latbros did not expected so thick. Thank you for reply! Great job!
@@gaspadorius it is a work barge so will have some rough times as well. Mooring blocks are quite heavy and will definitely bounce around so thickness is needed. As well as the ses bottom is not always clean. It is going to work in the shallow waters
She's a beauty :D

Красава 👍
Can you explain what the blue hull coating is?
That is been primered first with wjite primer and then antifouled with blue. Antifoul is used to protect hull from salt water corosion and other reactions.
awsome video!
Thanks 👌
What is that barge for Mooring laying? Or some other boat yard purpose? But why aluminium not steel? But that might depend on purpose. Cheers Warren
Hi Warren, That is right. Mainly for moorings services but also for other yard/harbour works. Aluminium is used because it is easier to maintain, modify and does not have to be fully painted. There will be more gear attached later as customer has not decided yet what sort of gear he needs. It looks different already. Since then we have added rubber fending and wheelhouse, engines to be fitted within next month or so. Regards, Slava
It turned out very well! Well done! We build from steel, but we would like to try aluminum. For example, our steel vessel has an aluminum ramp. Steel is cheaper than aluminum, but the material needs more weight. Purpose of the vessel: a houseboat platform? Can you tell me what grade of aluminum, the thickness of the outer skin? What engines do you use in terms of power? Here is a link to our steel ferry and our channel: th-cam.com/video/9aQU9uygJmk/w-d-xo.html m.th-cam.com/channels/5qa3yQGQF5MqmpYmriiGHA.htmlvideos
excellent work. can i please ask what filler wire you used? and also about what weld prep you typically do for new material? keep up the good work!
Hi Dave, Thank you for the question. We normally use 5556 Alloy 1.2mm. Weld prep depends on the thickness and type of weld. For the 6mm thick buttweld, we do 3mm @45% on each piece of metal for down-hand weld, after it is welded we do about the same depth root from underneath and weld it overhead. Thanks for your support!
@@latbros Thank you for your reply. What about in terms of cleaning the material before welding?
@@davework5922 just removed oxide at list 20mm of the edge and then after that just wipe edges clean with acetone cloth. Welds should be nice and smooth.
aweome
Thank you! Have a great day! Great to hear all the support we are getting from people.
Que raio de construtores são estes?, logo de inicio tem um grande erro, falta os corta mar na proa.
Hi, not quite sure what you were asking as google translate does not translate it accurate enough to understand.
how many gas tank to finish the barge Thanks
Hi Archie, if I am right I have used around 5 300Bar gas bottles. And to be fair could have saved a bit on that. There were areas that I could have welded less.
Quick question what is the coating you put on the haul and do you do water testing before coating?
HI buba gump, the owners of the barge were doing the painting. I think just a standard one pack aluminium compatible primer, several coats and then antifoul 3-4 coats. Owner chooses to paint it him self. All continuous welds have been welded both sides and Die Tested.

True. it was a tough fight for the little fella but he did really well. Water cooler would be a good help but due to the size, I have decided to leave it a side. )))

Hi, what is the brand of your aluminum welding machine? Thanks!
Hi Anita, here we use Kemppi Kempact Puls 3000 Very reliable, amazingly compact, up to 250amp pulse output with 1.2mm alloy wire 5556. Need a water cooler and water cooled torch for long day exploitation. Would definitely recommend for mobile use. Thanks, Slava
