I believe The Hollies did a great job on "If I Needed Someone'! George calling it "rubbish" was really uncalled for! There was a lyric change during the chorus of The Hollies' version which George might have found unacceptable. The Hollies sing "can't you see how I'm too much in love" instead of George's original lyric - "but ypu see now I'm too much in love". That's my theory.

I have no problem with Harrison not liking those the musicians less Neal Young, as others were "Pop" bands. Neal is different than any "rock" guitarist. It's almost Jazz like with his unique free form style. It may be George just did not understand like so many don't understand Jazz. it ain't smooth like Clapton - a bit rough which is why Neal liked playing with Crazy Horse vs playing with Crosby, Still and Nash, though Neal did play with Stills on Buffalo Springfield.

George got quite bitter & cranky in his later years.

I didn't realize how much George bitched about being a Beatle and about other bands! George had a lot of nerve criticizing other groups since he was a very mediocre Guitar player! He couldn't play a Guitar solo to save his life! There are many Beatles songs in which Paul and John perform the Guitar solos. George also wrote dour songs in which he bitches like - Don't Bother Me Think For Yourself Taxman Piggies I Me Mine
