That was an awesome tutorial
This lesson works really well for me. It helps to separate words and to tell what they mean. I start picking up new words🙂
Cool I didn’t know how to cook crawfish like that.
Thanks for the demonstration . My grandparents were Cherokee as well and African American. They use to give me sassafras tea when I was a child.
I had some from Granny's Kitchen in Cherokee. It was deliciious. I think it was dipped out of greens. Can you boil it right in the greens or do you boil them separately?
Myrtle, Wado.
This woman is a treasure
I'm so proud of you, Kallup! You've come so far from where you were when you were my student. So glad to hear that Rez HOPE got the funds from the opioid settlement. I know you and your wife will do great things.

Funny thing is in the Oklahoman dialect in the Qwa parts it is Qua, Que, Qui, Quo, Quu, Quv which did throw me off when i seen it shown as Qwa, Qwe, Qwi, Qwo, Qwu, Qwv. Same pronunciation just different spelling for the sounds, I also noticed that the Oklahoman dialect has more of a Spanish influence to it as well in general with how things are said.
I've always put a small to medium potato with the beans while they are cooking. We've always had little to no gas or bloating after eating the beans. Since we love pinto and navy beans we do eat a lot of them. I think the bean bread sounds great. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
So my dad's father is English Cherokee and my mother father is English-Scottish with Cherokee. Both of my parents also have German Hungarian Yiddish mother's. To me Cherokee sounds like a mix between Hungarian and Yiddish
Sgi, ijvyaliitseha. Thank you,I am grateful to you all.

Baking soda and self rising (wheat) flour are Cherokee?
Nowadays sure, we use modern day conveniences just like everyone else!
@@austinfaircloth1831 Not everyone uses that stuff. Traditional footways everywhere need to be preserved.
@@triskelehearth I highly agree but everyone does it differently I guess, I’ve had it both ways and either one is pretty good
The host looks so awkward and uncomfortable around Ms bush. Lmao. Like she's very robotic not even a real person
Just doing some research For a video project I am working on and wanted to leave a pleasant comment. I am in the knoxville area and have lived in east TN my whole life. The only time i feel spiritual Is when im in the mountains here. I am wanting to learn as much as I can about the 1700 1800 , Cherokee meals, diets , and traditions regarding food. In the off chance you see this in 2023 Thank you for this information!

i love natives from dark red to brown and light but this white women looks like she kidnapped natives and said cook . They fear for there lives.
I’m eastern band, my body does not make the enzyme to fully break down gluten, casein (cow milk protein) and soy protein. The result of this partial digestion is an exorphin that mimics endogenous opioids. If you are Cherokee and have trouble concentrating or feel numbness after eating these foods please get help. Much love for everyone 🙏 take care.
This is wonderful. I was a friend of Hawk Littlejohn and he was the first one to tell me about The Long Human Being or Long Man and have an old cassette of his sharing about the old ceremonies of immersion in the Long Human Being - - what day is the official Long Man day now? Also is there a place to learn the appropriate pronunciation of Ganvhidv Asgaya? Thank you for the work you do - it's so important.

I might try making the bread but I really can’t stand when people put info out on the Internet when they really have no clue what the F they are talking about… Kind of like she does when she answers the questions. Baking soda is good if you have an upset stomach caused by acid or if you have acid reflux but beans don’t cause acid reflux they cause gas and bloating. “Humans, unfortunately, lack the enzyme alpha-galactosidase in our digestive tract, which means that we’re unable to process raffinose. As a result, the compound is fermented by the bacteria found in our gut, which produces-you guessed it-gas,” Dr. Hazan explains. The reason why the bread sticks together is BOT because of the FLOUR (… good guess💁🏼♀️ I mean there’s only a few ingredients in this bread…. but unfortunately you guessed wrong.🙄) Self rising flour it’s not sticky -it is just flour with baking soda basically. It’s the BEANS that makes it sticky. (…You would know that if you ever cooked beans …I would THINK…but I guess not??🤦🏼♀️) Anyway other than being not very informative on things I already knew about, I thought this was a good idea to try making bean bread. Don’t make videos about things teaching other people about things you don’t know about. It’s just spreading there stupid and we really don’t need more of that. Thanks
