Suzuki V-Strom 800DE Tail Tidy - How To Install HRT (Hessler Rallye Team) Rear Fender Eliminator Kit
If you're looking for a rear fender eliminator kit, or tail tidy, for your Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, then you might already know that Germany company HRT (Hessler Rallye Team) is the only game in town. It's a well-finished product from a premium company with loads of Suzuki knowledge, and an admirable rally racing pedigree to boot. But obtaining and installing the 800DE Desert Express Rear 2.0 system (U.S. version) is not exactly a simple process. For one, HRT is not distributed in the United States, and can only be ordered direct from Herr Hessler in Deutschland. Challenge number two, step-by-step instructions are well spelled out in a video by Stefan Hessler himself... in German. Good luck with that.
I recently obtained a tail tidy from HRT (after patiently waiting for Germany to return from its summer break), and went through the installation process myself, documenting our progress in my own video-in English (you're welcome)-to help out anyone interested in ordering the HRT tail tidy fender eliminator kit and installing yourself.
Check out some of our findings during the install, some oversights and complications we found, some errors we (I) made and the work-arounds that got us to the finish line.
Gotta give big thanks to my boyfriend and garage mentor Luke Adams for guiding me through the tough parts, doing most of the drilling, cutting and fabricating, and generally helping me look like I know what I'm doing. Without him it would be me and my nail file... taking a veeeeeery long time to cut down that rear tail piece. lol
This install how-to is part of a bigger project build on my 2023 Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, and there is more to come on this. Watch for more videos revealing the modifications and improvements made to this incredible capable middleweight ADV platform, that has a ton of potential. My goal is to unlock that potential with a "real-world" build that will retain the original handling characteristics, road comfort, and street-legality of the stock 800DE. Follow along and we'll see where we land.

Best ADV Motorcycle Lift Stand? Harbor Freight ATV/Motorcycle Jack Review for Off-Road & MX Converts
มุมมอง 2.4K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Quick review of the Pittsburgh Automotive 1500-lb Steel ATV/Motorcycle Lift Stand from Harbor Freight. I have no affiliation with Harbor Freight, simply think that this is a great solution for ADV motorcycle owners that might struggle to get their big 500-lb motorcycles off the ground. For adventure riders coming from the off-road and motocross world, it may seem that an ADV bike is just a big ...
Liv Intrigue X Advanced E+ Elite eMTB | Ride Review from Liv World Launch in St. George, Utah
มุมมอง 5Kปีที่แล้ว
An eMTB melts together the land-access of mountain biking with the go-power of a dirt bike into a tantalizing form of hybrid fun, giving you the ability to go three times and far and four times as fast as an analog mountain bike. (That’s what they’re calling old-school pedal-bicycles these days, FYI.) In a place like St. George that’s exactly what you want to do, ride farther, go faster and kee...

Getting a firm grip on your dirt bike is mission critical to feeling comfortable on your motorcycle. But finding the best grip on your handlebars is not as simple as it may seem. California Red Sticker Registration for Dirt Bikes Going Away? The Entire Issue Explained
มุมมอง 39K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Is California making off-road dirt bikes illegal?! No, not quite. Yes, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is ending the Red Sticker competition OHV exemption starting in model year 2022, and making some sweeping changes in the way off-road dirt bikes and competition motocross bikes are registered in California. But no one panic-the sky isn’t falling. Follow along as I break down the back...

I see that u also got rid of the passenger pegs. Great move cause they look like they’re leg breakers. Did I just cut the one side off for the shock reservoir?
Nice and to the point, thanks! On my way to Harbor Freight.
What are the part numbers for the number plate delete ? My dealer has no idea what im talking about
Hi Chad. It is here at this link. But they do not distribute in the U.S. which is why your dealer doesn't know what you're talking about! www.dr-big-shop.de/DL800DE_TuningSpecial_8016.html
The link is for the tail tidy, what about the black number plate replacement panels? That's what my dealership can't find. Thanks.
Those are Suzuki. store.suzukicycles.com/p/plastic-side-case-upper-bracket-vstrom800
Is the bike stable when it is on the stand? Will it teeter from side to side if bumped?
@@dougreikosky9530 It’s pretty solid on there. I climbed on and sat on it on the stand. No teetering!
I just saw your video and my first thought was: thank you ❤
t-rex adjustable side stand.
are those "number plate" replacement pieces from Hessler or Suzuki?
Those are Suzuki
cool video 👍
Thanks! 👍
@cross Rutted: Really nice made and informativ video! First time I see someone cut in there motorcycle. But it become very sharp looking motorcycle! If you run out of ides and want to help Captain Handicap out (me). Then feel free to also make a video of how to calibrate the headlight on a motorcykle. Even better if you show with your awesome Suzuki V-strom 800DE. 🙃😃 Wink wink, notch notch. The clue is in the plain text. Have a great day!
Air cooled engine can be good for UK but countries around mediterrenean sea, in hot climates, I believe it will be a problem in especially in summers.
Get the dolly so you can rest the bike on it after you jack it No hydraulics on it.
Suspension does get much better after a 1000 miles or so in my experience and the motor does the same and becomes much more willing after about 2000 miles but obviously thats my bike another one may be a bit different , and i have to mention that after a winter of salty uk roads i don’t have any rust on it anywhere so the finish isn’t super clean but it does seem to be decent quality 👍
What kind of helmet are you using in this vid?
I like the classic look. And I've never had a motorcycle. And I like the dirt road capabilities. Are there any other beginner bikes that would with those qualities? Thank you
Try the aluminum version. It lifts my Harleys easily.
Roll the stand in from the throttle side, leave the kick stand down! Less of a balancing act and keeps the kick stand away from the rear wheel and chain service areas.
So this is obviously a few years after the vid posted but I’m an AZ resident with a 24 KTM 350SX-F with an OHV sticker. Can I ride places like Glamis and other public OHV areas in CA with the Non Resident OHV pass?
Great video thank you ! I’m curious to know your shoe size😊
Why?
I own a 2023 Meteor and I disagree about the seat not being as comfortable as it should. It's an EXCELLENT seat and extremely comfortable.
very good reveiw and touched on many options no other vdo has. !! good job . sounds graet for me being lighter yet has great 2 up seating. my 750gs at 222kg is just too heavy now to move around; just sitting !
why is it lighter than the 660 sport ?? a good thing with my old body and want 2 up riding comfort, that this has . like to have tpms but...
very beautiful bike and lady !!!
Very well presented. Too bad CA is such a mess at the DMV.
It's Bike Bs4 or Bs6
Great video,thank you for sharing
Plz remove music when you talk.
I really wish they would allow adjustment of the Smart-assist support level. It is a bit too strong.
Lol I herd it failed
This sounds perfect me on an electric unicycle I rarely have to stop. I can ride on sidewalk bike paths or the road here. Does get hot here tops out most summers at 115. But I hardly ever have to stop and I don’t have a hot engine!
Wait, does this mean that a red sticker bike (mine is 2016) will not be eligible for registration starting in 2025?
Sorry for the late reply... your 2016 red-sticker bike will receive a green sticker in 2025! 👍
This is another method with a 5.5' bed. th-cam.com/video/mpqusVC4Rx0/w-d-xo.html
Thank you! As a small woman this has been a huge factor! I’ve been running those hand guards for years. I’m going back to the other bars and will carry levers for a while just in case. I tip over a lot due to my height.
Somehow, I always forget the setting in the front! Thanks for the video. Very well put together and helpful.
i just love this bike - th-cam.com/users/shortsNLtI7l_GVSI
hi there!what would you say about the hot air to the knees?i really like this bike, but,i m in a hot country.
Hi there. I only had the bike for two weeks, and it was in late February, so I honestly only rode in very cold temps. So my answer would probably be that there was not enough hot air to my knees! lol Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. Hopefully another review from someone who has had the bike longer term can give you an experienced answer.
@@CrossRutted thanks for the response
Picked mine up just over 2 weeks ago and love it. Engine and gearbox soooo smooooth. What tank bag did you have on whilst riding in the pov shots?
Awasome review ❤️
I have a 2021 in Blue. I bought it used at 900 miles. The key had "HERS" embroidered on it. The couple had matching bikes but I think he wanted them to have them more than her. Which worked out well for me! I save about $3k buying used in 2023. Plus I got Givi Crashbars and, TANKLOCK mount and handle bar rises preinstalled. I think it is very easy to ride. I have only done one 17 mile commute since I recently got my permit. I am 6'2 so I am a little tall but it works fine.
I’m kind of confused about the hose clamps. What is the point of them, are they needed? I’m doing this for my frontier and should be able to work. So far this seems like the best way to fit my 125 in my truck while being comfortable with it
The hose clamp keeps the tailgate from popping out of the hinge. Not sure about a Nissan, but on a Ford truck, if you were going to remove the tailgate, you would put it at that exact angle and lift it out - there's a gap in the female end of the hinge that allows it to lift free on the passenger side. A simple hose clamp will prevent it from coming out. The clamp doesn't need to be tight - in fact you want it loose so the hinge can still move freely. But without the clamp, it is possible to hit a bump in the road and dislodge the tailgate from the hinge. It has happened to friends of mine!
very good review!without saying specs(that we can find our own) in the whole video
Thanks for watching!

❤ Great on off Roads its a Trail bike made to Travel the province country side City ❤
You mentioned any red tags by 2024 will become green?
Correct.
I recently bought an ATV and I'm upset i can't ride it whenever i want only a temporary season. It's ridiculous i wish an ATV community would come together to change this laws.
The policies are not too strict. The manufacturers are failing the public with their unwillingness to innovate. Everyone of us riders knows that our sport pollutes and we all try to argue that “we’ll, it’s not as much as…” which is a bullshit argument. We need simple requirements and manufacturers who lead with innovation to reduce carbon footprints. I don’t like restrictions nor overreach but I also despise lazy bike manufacturers and they’re all lazy. I guess electric (debatable how clean it is) solves it all in the near future and gives us also better performing bikes.
We wish you'd do more reviews. You're really good. We need more women doing reviews!
So sad man i hate California more and more everyday.
I took my wife out on my Elite 3 (medium) which she liked quite a bit. I'll supply some data, which may be of help. In the men's Elite range, the 18.8 Kg model is insanely expensive. My Elite 3 is $6000, as is the Liv Elite 3. Interestingly, the Elite 3 is only 2 Kg heavier, at 20.7Kg, so it could be a very nice option. Also, as to range, I have mine dialed back a bit, as I am not looking for a free ride up the mountain. I'm 70 and 160 pounds and in a modified "Active" mode with support at 100%, torque at 40NM, and launch at 2, I went on a 19.25-mile ride with 2323 feet of climbing in Utah (Heber, Utah) and used 51% of the battery life. That ride was done in about 75% of my normal ride time on my mountain bike and my HR zone was 3 instead of the usual 5. So, a great way to control HR and go on rides that might not normally be possible. Oh, just as an aside, while she was on her mountain bike and I was on the Elite, I rode with the motor off. No resistance at all from the motor, so if you run out of electrons, you can still ride out.
I bought a 23 yahama 450fx , the dealer was kinda shady about it not sure they knew exactly what to tell me either
Love ❤from India🇮🇳😊
